  8. I'd like to get everyones honest statistics on length of band, and weight loss. Also if you'd like to give details of your loss, please do.
  9. What type of feeling or pain is there after the surgery? Is it discomfort of the air being pumped into you, the band site, etc?

    Self Pay Finance Options

So you haven't checked them out yet?? Most of these medical loan companies look shady, and thats what I'm afraid of.
  12. I was curious about this. So I guess it depends on the person. But can I assume its safe to say to take a week off?

Has anyone kept their lap band a secret?

If I do get a band, my wife will know, and thats it. I hate the minute you tell one person, and they swear not to tell anyone, BAM it spreads like wide fire.

    Lap-Band Failure Rates

I'm just nervous because I would be a self pay, and dropping $17k for something that will go bad by the time I have it paid off would suck. I don't want to go through all of this, and then 5 years later need to get it removed.

    Lap-Band Failure Rates

So what are the current results of the band? I'd like to hear what type of results are happening now if the methods have changed.
  16. Nice.... Ok off to my doctor I go then... :tt1:
  17. Well I guess there wasn't enough proof for them. I explained that my family has great history of heart disease, and that my father had his first quadruple bypass when he was 42, and then had his first heart attack at 48. So I expressed that I did not want to get to that point, thats why I wanted to stop it here. I mean my BMI is 38... ah duh... heart disease, high blood pressure, and BMI of 38... starting to see a problem..

If you need financing for self pay

Ha-ha... no one responded, like I was the plague... I'm just trying to help.. :tt2:
  19. Please don't think I'm trying to spam on here, I just want to help. I know first hand how fustrating it can be when you want the procedure, and get declined by the insurance company. (it happened to me twice last year) If you are thinking of self paying, I may be able to help. I'm a Home Mortgage Consultant for the largest mortgage company in the US. So if you own a home, and are thinking of doing a refinance to take cash out to pay for the procedure... give me a shout, I can help. (even if you think you don't have good credit) You can email me on here if your interested, or even if you just need some financing advise.. I'd like to help.
  20. Yeah she wasn't very nice... I'm like I'm trying to get this weight under control before I have more problems.. she wasn't hearing it. :tt1: :tt2:
  21. I finally spoke to someone at United Resource, and they declined me for the band. She said I was "only" at a BMI of 37, and it has to be above 40. I told the lady, so what I have to gain more weight and have more problems for them to cover it... and she said "basically". GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.......................

    Diffrence in Bands??????????????

yes I to would like to hear why.
  24. Hi all, I'm back on the road to getting banded again. Here's the story.. I was going to get banded a year ago, and I was going to be self paid. But right before the surgery I started having financial issues, and needed to call it off. Well I'm back and ready to go at it again!! Also in that time I switched companies, so I want to try and get them to approval the procedure first. So cross your fingers!!!
  25. Yeah I'm starting to see that. But I'm on the mortgage sales side, so 100% commission isn't the easiest to take time off. But I hear you, I'll probably have to work from home for a week or so. I'm getting all excited.....ha-ha...:huh2:
