Am I the only one who loves their band?

I am with you on this. I love my band and have had success with it until about two months ago when I noticed I could eat more and was gaining weight. I had not seen my Dr. in years and finally went to see him when I gained 15 lbs and had no restriction. Guess what? My esophagus was stretched and I had created a new pouch in it to hold my food. The Dr. also discovered that my port had flipped. He was able to empty out the port (after several attempts) and wanted to give my esophagus time to relax and go back to normal. Today I had a port revision. I will start the fill process all over again after my incision heals. At least I only have 20 lbs to go instead of the 80 I had when I first had the surgery. I will never go a long period of time without seeing my Dr. again. -
I just got home from my port revision surgery. It was a easy surgery. I am home now and my stomach is very swollen (not sure if this is normal) and I am in a lot of pain. Dr. said he will refill my band in two weeks. Hopefully the swelling will go down soon.

I am having my flipped port fixed on Tuesday. I'm a nervous wreck! He said he is doing it under local anesthesia and something to make me sleepy. Has anybody had this done? I'm scared.

Pouch dilation, now band unfilled
Irma replied to michellemybelle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Did the Dr. see the pouch forming in the esophagus ? I found out yesterday that my port flipped. After SEVERAL attempts he found the port and was able to get the liquid out, but for some reason the needle had a leak and he could not refill it. He did a X-ray with a barium and noticed my esophagus was stretched. Now I have to wait a month for my esophagus to shrink and have a port revision. Like you, I am a wreck but the Dr. did say it should go back to normal. Hopefully this will be the same for you. -
Hi Everyone, I have had the lapland for several years. I recently changed insurance companies and had to find a new dr. I had not had a fill in several years and felt I needed to see the Dr. Well.... after poking over 10 times without any numbing medicine he decided to to an x ray. My port has flipped, it is facing straight up toward my face. He tried several more attempts at getting to the band and FINALLY got it. He was able to get all of the fluid out, but when he tried to put it back in the needle had a leak. After several more attempts at poking me he called it quits. Now my band has no liquid in it and he wants to do a port revision. Has anybody else had this type of issue. I am so depressed and crying. I do not want to gain all the weight I lost back. He also said my esophagus was stretched and wanted to give it some time to heal. HELP!
