    Sleeve to RNY

I had revision from sleeve to rny in September 2020 and have had zero GERD symptoms since surgery. I do dump with some sugar substitutes, but so far it seems limited specifically to sugar alcohols (xylitol, erythritol, sorbitol, etc.). Splenda and Stevia have been fine so far.

    Revision completed

No vomiting for me either. Made the mistake of overeating twice and will never do it again. I also dump from sugar substitutes like erythritol and most dairy/dairy substitutes. I've always had an issue with milk, but holy moly has it gotten exponentially worse. I've also had to take it super slow on a bunch of different foods and am just now adding more raw veggies/salads in (at 5 months out). BUT, I still haven't had any GERD, which is the primary reason I had revision, and I've lost about 65 lbs since the week prior to revision, so I'm pretty happy with the results!

    Anyone for September 2020?

Revision from sleeve to bypass due to severe GERD and lack of weight loss was 9/19. I'm down almost 74 from the start of the process and almost 50 from the date of the revision. Still having trouble with a bunch of foods, but I otherwise feel great! No GERD since revision to bypass, which is totally wild to me considering I had horrible GERD from the moment I woke up from sleeve surgery.
  4. I am experiencing the same thing and am just 10 days behind you as far as surgery date. I had really bad dumping on Thanksgiving (I had a tablespoon of whipped cream against my better judgement) and things have not been "right" since then. My clinic said to keep watching things and go back to purees for a few days to see if that helps. So far... eh. I have also had zero appetite since the dumping, so I'm mostly just focusing on getting my protein in.

Revision due to Reflux and scared!!

I had revision from sleeve to bypass on Sept 18 due to severe GERD. I had also not lost much due to maladaptive eating I had developed due to the GERD symptoms (the symptoms were WAY worse when my stomach was empty, so I had to eat something every 1-2 hours). After sleeve surgery, I woke up with GERD symptoms and they never really stopped. Since the revision to bypass I have had zero GERD symptoms and it has been glorious! I have absolutely no regrets for going through the revision. My only hiccup has been in the transition from pureed food to mashed food, but I think it's mostly me just needing to adjust to the new way my stomach/system works. Good luck! I hope it goes as well for you as it has for me!

    Anyone for September 2020?

I had revision from sleeve to bypass due to severe GERD (with minimal weight loss due to maladaptive eating developed as a result of the GERD) on 9/18. I am thrilled to say that I woke up from bypass with zero GERD symptoms and have continued to have zero symptoms since surgery!

    Anyone sleeve to bypass?

@Christina760 - He said I’ll lose less than I would have if I’d had bypass first, but expects that I’ll likely lose about 60 lbs, which is right in the 69-65% range for me. I’ll still be overweight by the BMI tables, but I’ll be much better off than I am now. I’d love to lose more, but I’m not getting my hopes up since this isn’t my first surgery.

    Regrets?

I regret having sleeve as my first surgery. I woke up with severe GERD that never went away. I just had revision to bypass and am so happy I went through with it!
  9. I revised primarily for severe GERD, though there was also a lack of weight loss due to maladaptive eating to avoid GERD symptoms. I woke up from sleeve with severe GERD that never really went away. I woke up from bypass with zero GERD and have not had any symptoms since surgery on 9/18.

    Anyone sleeve to bypass?

Me! I only lost about 30 lbs with sleeve and gained half of it back due to maladaptive eating to avoid the symptoms of severe GERD. I just had revision to bypass on the 18th and am down 20 lbs from the start of my liquid diet 10 days prior to surgery. My doc said he expects me to lose about 60-65% of my excess weight, so a little less than I’d bypass was my first surgery.
  11. I agree, the cream of chicken is quite good! I also liked both the beef and chicken bouillons and the hot chocolate.

    Revision completed

I had my revision from sleeve to bypass last Friday. So far I’ve had zero GERD symptoms. This is the first time I’ve had no GERD since waking up from the sleeve surgery over two years ago.
  13. I liked the thick shakes pre-surgery, but I couldn’t handle anything thick post-surgery, so my nutritionist suggested Unjury and the high protein Slim Fast shakes thinned out with some Fair Life milk. Otherwise, I ended up getting the BariatricPal broths (chicken and beef) and those have been a great substitute for the sweet shakes so far.

    Anyone for September 2020?

Surgery was this morning (revision from sleeve to bypass for GERD). So far I am doing very well and much better than I did at this point after sleeve. I’m already walking the whole hallway and have passed my sips test, so am drinking water and watered down apple juice. I am so happy I went through with this!

    Anyone for September 2020?

I just got a bunch of Protein2O and it is quite tasty. The Dragonfruit and the Peach Mango are my favorites. Definitely better than the premiere protein water.
