I have one for medication allergies. I’m not able to add anything else because I’m out of room! I bought the bracelet from someone on Etsy years ago. They normally made bracelets & I told her what I needed. Now that I’ve lost so much weight I can slip it off!

Mental inability to drink
toodlerue replied to Stephanie H.'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Have you tried juicing? When I juice, I use breast milk bags to freeze it. They have ounce marks on them & the are heavier then a plain Ziplock. I can make up about 9-10 bags with each juicing. I know that fresh is the best, but froze is better then canned stuff! I love carrot, cucumber & beet. When I go to a place that makes fresh juice I always get a large so that I can bring it home to freeze. You can also get unflavored protein powder & add it to the juice. -
Trying to eat more veggies- 3 months post op
toodlerue replied to fourmonthspreop's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Ranch Dressing🤣In a few months you will be able to have a salad. I always put spinach in mine when I'm at home. It is really hard to fit veggies in & raw veggies are harder for our tiny tummies to digest. I try to do at least 1 oz with my dinner, then I have 2-2.5 oz of protein. It just seems so wierd to have 2 small portions on my plate, but that's all I can do. I know I'm not getting enough veggies. I have berries with my oatmeal in the mornings & then fruit before I go to bed. Fruit is much easier for me because I can take an apple with me in the car when I'm out & about. This is why it's so important to take a multi vitamin! -
It felt like high school bullying because they probably were in high school!! Try to brush it off. You are doing great & you will be down in the low 200’s before you know it! But just wait until you have lost a bunch of weight! It is so hard not to tell someone that was the same size as you once were that they should have weight loss surgery! Everyone is fighting their own battle that no one else can see.

I have worn a medic alert bracelet for years because of all my drug allergies. There is no room on it to put anything about my bypass. I have a silver bracelet that has a jaw clasp at both ends that I wear with it. I also have made other one with colored beads to match what I’m wearing. I bought it on Etsy. I showed the seller what I wanted & the length I needed. I have had this one for over 6 years. There are loads of them out there, just Google medic alert bracelet. PS after my stepmom who had Alzheimer’s got lost aa couldn’t remember her name or phone number I got her one with that info on it. I’m trying to post a picture but I can’t figure out how to do that.

Flight home 5 days after surgery
toodlerue replied to TruNorth's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I would not have been able to do that especially if I was by myself. Most of my pain after abdominal surgery is the pain in the left shoulder from the gas used to inflate your stomach. Mine is always almost unbearable for 3 weeks after any surgery. But every one is different so no one here really has the answer for you, we can just share our own experience with you. -
If your hair is that long it might be a good idea to get at least some length cut off before surgery. It will be easier on your drains at least if you loose some hairs in the months after.

toodlerue replied to yesno789's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
No I’d say it’s just been getting progressively worse for about six months. I actually puked in the Gastrologist office last week when she was talking to me! but I did make it up to the garbage can in time. 🤦♀️ -
Pouch/Jejunum stretched - Barium Swallow
toodlerue replied to yesno789's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Wow! That’s crazy! I had a barium swallow done last week but I don’t know the results of it. Yesterday I had am EDG. They did these because I’m nauseous all the time and they want to look at my stomach. The doctor mentioned yesterday that I might need a the one where they put that small thing through your nose and it goes down into your stomach and you have to drink when they get it down there to see if how you swallow is OK. That test was just awful! I think I’d rather have a colonoscopy🙃 -
I totally forgot about the ricotta back! I was so good. It’s like lasagna but with out the noodles! https://bariatricbits.com/single-serve-baked-ricotta/ Here’s a recipe for a single serving. Just Goggle Ricotta Bake. Or as we say at my house GTS (Google the s!:7)

I made a roast in the crockpot for my family. I took a little bit a roast a little bit of potatoes and a little bit of carrots and blended it all up and it was pretty darn good! Cream soups are OK you can just pick out the two pieces of chicken or the three mushrooms that are in the can😹🤦♀️ There’s always mashed potatoes😋 with gravy! I got unflavored protein powder and added it to a lot of things.

3 weeks post op and struggling with nausea
toodlerue replied to Szietsma's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Sorry you’re having such a rough time. Your body has gone through a tremendous shock. It is still healing & trying to figure out what to do. I remember crying at 3 or 4 weeks out thinking “what have I done?” I was so terribly weak. Try a different brand of protein drink. Add the unflavored powder to everything. As you are able to add more foods in you probably will start to feel better. Check to see if your insurance plan has a dietitian you can speak with. Cigna provided one for me. We talked weekly the 1st 2 months & them monthly till about 8 months out. She was really helpful. -
3 weeks post op and struggling with nausea
toodlerue replied to Szietsma's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I know this will not make you feel any better I am almost 4 years postop Roux n y and I buy three bottles meclizine at a time on Amazon. Some days I have to take anywhere from 2 to 8 a day. I want to a gastrologist a couple weeks ago because after this like the time I don’t trust my surgeon anymore. I had a barium swallow test earlier this week and on Wednesday I’m having an EKG. I actually threw up in the garbage can while I was talking to the new Gastrologist! Sometimes it’s just something we have to live with because of what we have done to our bodies even though I do not regret this decision one bit! -
Oh Gigi, I’m so sorry about your mom. That is a really hard thing to go through. Sounds like you are in stage 4 of grief. Google the stages of grief. Give yourself some extra care & seek help. Maybe your primary care doc can give you something to help you deal with everything. Medications don’t make our problems go away, they just help us to deal with them better.

Gastric bypass and hiatal hernia repair 27th april
toodlerue replied to Merill's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi & welcome. I sorta had a Hiatal hernia repair when I had my bypass 4 years ago. I had a fundolipacation 15 years ago to repair the hernia. That lasted about 8 years & is slowly failed. I had the bypass to repair all of that. I have lost 65-70lbs depending on the day😸 Good luck with your surgery. -
I told my family (brother & sister) because I knew they wouldn’t say anything rude to me - that’s just how we are. I told a few friends & if one of them asked about my weight loss I told them. But I told my husband & daughters that under any circumstances while I’m still alive are they to tell his dad & brother! His family has always made us feel bad about the size of all of us & I just don’t want them knowing. We saw his dad a couple weeks ago when my oldest was visiting. His girlfriend hasn’t seen me in a while. She kept calling me skinny mini & going on & on about how much weight I have lost. When she asked how I did it I just said by changing my eating habits & eating smaller portions. (That’s not a lie) I felt bad that she said anything because my older daughter is a big girl. She would love to have surgery but can’t afford it right now. I could tell that it was upsetting to her😿

All of the above. I read all of your posts. But sometimes I don’t have any/or I can’t remember what it was like 4 months out of surgery so I don’t say anything. -
3 years out and still afraid of gaining the weight back
toodlerue replied to RachaelLou's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Sounds a lot like me. I lost 60 after the surgery. Never got down to my goal, just 10 pounds away. They I started to eat crap, I quickly put on 30. Last February my friend talked me into doing the Fast Metabolism Diet by Haily Pomroy, your gonna have to Google it. You eat really clean it’s just what you eat in 3 different phases. We followed it for a couple months & then just continued to eat clean. In August I hit my goal weight!! I have been hanging out 130-135 since then. Still try to eat clean. We are going on a cruise in September & I am super nervous about that! -
Before my RNY when food would get stuck I would take just a couple sips of Coke and it would go down. It got so bad that when we ate out I would just order a Coke. Just in case. Even though I’m not a soda drinker. I would buy the little bottles and keep it in the refrigerator just in case I needed it.

Negative comments from family members
toodlerue replied to fourmonthspreop's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I’m sorry your family is being so negative. You are trying your best! Sometimes we all just need a kickstart so tell them to shut their pie hole! I hope you seek the help of a professional who can help you deal with all the things your family makes you feel. You are doing it for yourself with or without them! Maybe you should distance yourself from them (at least for a time) if that is at all possible. Then go prove them wrong!!!! -
How Onderfull!

What do you do when you get sick?
toodlerue replied to berryboo97's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am almost 4 years out. I still get nauseous about 5 times a week. I buy Meclizine by the bottle on Amazon. When the nausea is really bad I just take a couple of sips of ginger ale. I buy the 6 pack of small bottles so we can keep the rest for the next time. This is really weird but I have also found the eating a spoonful of raw oatmeal settles my stomach. There have been a few time that I have actually thrown up but that was because I ate something I shouldn’t have. -
Post op day 4 complications
toodlerue replied to gabbykittyvsg's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I’m sorry you are having so much trouble. I pray everything get figured out soon! -
Did your surgeon give an amount of food to eat? Mine & my daughter’s surgeon/plan/team (we each had different doctors) told us to not eat more then 3 oz. I am over 3 years out & I still weight my food at home. When we go out I cut my meat in 1/2 & have about 2 bites of veggies. I know that’s about 3oz. I know from doing my own cooking that adding ham, cheese & tomato to 1 egg is more then 3 oz. Stick with your plan & doctors instructions! Don’t try to eat more just because you can.
