You’re really not eating anything, it’s all liquid 😹 Sorry for being a smart a$$ I just couldn’t resist.

You can wear the same clothes home that you wore to the hospital. You won’t be in them for long.

Starting to exercise 3 weeks before surgery isn’t gonna change much of anything. Besides you can’t exercise for 6 weeks after. When your six weeks are up ease into something slowly. Hopefully loosing weight will make it easier on your body to move more without being in pain. Best of luck on your surgery & weight loss!

This pain is a be time thing after it is used to blow up your abdomen.
-
The only pain I had (and it’s always really bad for me) is the pain in the left shoulder from the gas used to inflate the abdomen. Nothing helps that pain as mine always lasts about 3 weeks! I do see a pain specialist so I can’t remember if my surgeon gave me pain meds or not. If something just doesn’t seem right, call your surgeon’s office, they are the experts, not us! Check with your insurance about a nutritionist & therapist.

4 months out, having a bad day. Ate an entire 10" pizza

Take a deep breath, it’s not the end of the world but please follow the food guidelines that your doctor gave you! Start again on your next meal. -
Try using an electrolyte drink like Drip Drops or Liquid IV. I was feeling this way & a naturopath suggested that for me. She said I looked & felt “punnie” (sorry don’t know how to spell that). Using one stick of Drip Drops a day has made such a difference for me!

I haven’t had any regrets. 5-7 days after surgery is when you think “what the hell did I just do?” But then you are able to drink a little more protein each day & then you progress though all the food stages & you slowly start to feel better as the weight starts falling off. Then you feel amazing & wonder why you didn’t do it sooner! I think most of us were scared before surgery. It’s a natural response.

Not sure what is going on but please check in with your Surgon/bariatric team & your primary. -
Sounds like a combo of dehydration, tiredness, pain. Take it easy & don’t over do it.

Maybe you used too much liquid in your salmon. I puréed beef with a baby carrot from the roast I made the family & it was surprisingly good. Make sure you put your fork down between bites. This will help you to eat slower. Don’t forget about cottage cheese.

Wow! You turned back time!

Nausea after eating- 3 weeks out
toodlerue replied to Bananas4Bananas's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Babyspoons said everything I would say. Keep eating the soft foods for another week & then try moving on. My daughter couldn’t eat chicken for the longest time after her RNY. I didn’t have any trouble unless I ate more then 3oz. Make sure you’re not eating too much. That can make you nauseous! I use the alarm on the Baritastic app to remind me to drink water every 15 min (accept when I’m eating of course). I’m over 5 years out & I still need to be reminded sometimes. I never leave the house without a bottle of water & I always have it right next to me. I use 1/2 a stack of Drip Drops in 23oz. Gives it a little flavor. I aim for 3 bottles a day. Good luck! You can do it. -
Food Portions - 6mos post op

I was told no more than 3.5 oz. If I eat more then that I’m too full. I eat 3 meals plus 3-4 snacks a day. I had surgery 5 years ago. -
Congrats! Getting all the fluids in the 1st couple of weeks is hard! Just take little sips every 15 minutes. I have reminders set up through the Baritastic app.
-
Good luck. See you on the losers bench!

I have a timer from Bartastics sent for ever 15 minutes reminding me to drink. I have silly sayings like “Must drink coffee”, “It’s 5 o’clock somewhere “ , “It’s wine o’clock “, “Tequila because water is boring “, & “Must go pee” as reminders.

Day 4 of conversion to bypass and MAJOR hernia repair
toodlerue replied to coccomo's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Don’t give up! The 1st few days can be pretty bad. I remember thinking the same thing. That was 5 years ago. Just do what you can. Always have a protein drink, water or even tea next to you. Take a little sip every 5 minutes. All of those count as fluid right now. You will feel better once you get to puréed & then solids. It just takes time. Try Cortaid or an anti itch cream on your incisions if you need it. -
Wow! That’s crazy! Good luck on your stent surgery!

I have nothing to offer but a hug. Try to take a short walk in the sunshine. -
It will get better. I remember thinking “What the hell did I just do to myself?” We have just put our body and mind through a lot it’s gotta get used to everything.
-
Welcome Melba! The tiredness will get better as you are able to add more solid foods. Try to eat 5 small meals that are high in protein a day. That should really help. Good luck returning to work.

Your insurance might not require a waiting period but they might have several of things you have to do before surgery. A psych eval, meeting with the dietitian so many times and meeting with your doctor several times before they will approve surgery. You’ll probably have to have another sleep test since yours was over a decade ago. But sometimes they are done at home. You wear a monitor for 1 to 2 nights at home. From that they determine if you have sleep apnea.
