  1. Anyone have to do a bowel prep before a RNY? I can see the benefit since the doc will be attaching your intestine to your new stomach. Just tell me it’s not as bad as getting ready for a colonoscopy! Toodles, Rue

    C-PAP machine??

It took me 2 years to get use to wearing mine. I have had surgery 12 different times & only had to take my Cpap to the hospital once. Toodles, Rue
  3. Bye Atorvastatin. My PCP said I could stop taking this. After my surgery I can also stop Pantoprazole. Toodles, Rue

    Some questions

When my primary 1st suggested WLS he put a notation of all the things that would justify me having WLS in my chart. Sleep apnea (I have used a clap for 13 years), back pain, joint pain, depression, GERD, trouble walking. So when insurance asked he already had all the bases covered. I saw him this week. He was very informative & wants to see me a month after my surgery. Toodles, Rue
  5. There is an English show on Netflix called Embarrassing Bodies. On S3:E7 a man has a buried penis after weight loss & has the excesses skin removed between the penis & his tummy. Toodles, Rue

    Family cook

Wondering what others have done about cooking dinner for their family. I am the family cook. I'm not sure how I am going to feel after surgery. Am I going to want to meal plan, shop, cook & clean up for my family? 5 years ago I had major back surgery & friends bought over dinners for the 1st week or so that I was home. I'm not telling everyone about the WLS so friends won't be bringing any food over. I know that most of the cooking is going to fall to my daughter. She's plenty old enough, but she's not very good at cleaning up after she cooks. Guess I will just have to let somethings go. How did you handle it?
  8. I see a pain specialist because I am in constant pain after having my back fussed 5 years ago. I told her about my upcoming surgery. She said that she should be managing my pain after the RNY. Anyone else have a pain specialist do this for them after WLS? Toodles, Rue

Can we talk about boobs and bras?

I had a reduction & lift 7 years ago! Insurance paid for it because of the back pain it caused me. Check into it.
  10. I’m 2 days after you! Going under is the easy part! I have had 13 different surgeries in my life & lots of other things I have been put out for. I always sing [emoji445] I Wanna Be Sedated by the Ramones to the doctors before I go under. I’m sad because I just realized I won’t be able to have my “last meal” the night before because of the liquid diet! I always stay up late & eat something crazy like ice cream or Froot Loops the night before!!!! Toodles, Rue
  11. Anyone get a medic alert tattoo after surgery? I wear a bracelet because I am allergic to 5 medications. No more words can fit on my bracelet. I’m looking for ideas for a tattoo, so if you have one with your WLS info will you please share it with us. Toodles, Rue

    Medic alert tattoo

So what y’all are saying is that I don’t even need one to wear a medic alert bracelet at all? Toodles, Rue

    Note to self

My daughter & I were practicing chewing our food today at lunch. We were cracking ourselves up be cause one of us would started talking & then we would loose count. One thing that helps is laying your fork down between bites. Toodles, Rue
  15. How exciting! That is going to be so amazing to not have a saggy muffin top any longer! Best of luck to you! Toodles, Rue

    Medic alert tattoo

Well I’m always gonna be allergic to at least 5 different meds & after a RNY I’m always going to not be able to have a blind tube inserted down my throat. Toodles, Rue

    Medic alert tattoo

I can see your point Fluffychix but I only have a tramp stamp so I wouldn’t be adding that info back there. It would be on my right wrist with the symbol & pertinent info. Toodles, Rue

    Endoscopy

No, it was a special test I had to have done. I did get an Endoscopy done later that day & I was knocked out for that! An Endoscopy has to be done before the WLS to make sure everything is ok in your stomach because it’s going to be a lot harder to look in it afterwards! Toodles, Rue

    Endoscopy

A narrow but long tube was inserted through my nose. It was supposed to pass all the way down to my stomach & then I had to drink water though a straw to test the pressure in my esophagus. Because my fundolpacation has come undone my esophagus is L shaped so the tube never made it to my stomach. It was an awful experience! Toodles, Rue

    Pre-admission testing

It’s probably just getting blood work done. Some hospitals will give you a special soap to wash your body with the day before. Toodles, Rue

    Endoscopy

You will have to change into a hospital gown. You will be knocked out & won’t remember a thing. When the pressure was tested on my esophagus I was awake & had to swallow, that was horrible & I hope I never have to do it again! Toodles, Rue
  23. How do you take your daily meds after surgery? I take gabapentin, estradiol, pantoprazole, citlopram, atrovatatin, & montelukast daily plus pain meds as I need them. How are meds broken down after a RNY?

    Wls body shamers smh

I told my husband & kids the only reason to tell my husband’s dad that I have had WLS is when I’m dead! I have always felt looked down on by his family for my weight. Toodles, Rue
