toodlerue replied to New To This23's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had a RNY over 5 years ago. I see lots of activity on this board for one. Good luck with yours. Ask any questions you have. Even what to pack to take to the hospital. -
🎶🎵 It's the Final Countdown!! 🎵🎶

How exciting! I had a fundolipcation years ago & after ten years it was discovered that it had failed at some point. And that my esophagus was L shaped & 1/2 of my stomach was above my diaphragm! I had a bypass to fix all of that and lost over 60 pounds. I feel so much better now! Good luck & God’s blessings on you tomorrow! -

Acid re-bound effect after stopping omperazole
toodlerue replied to DandelionSun's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Oh boy, my dr says I need to take it for the rest of my life! That could be that I had a huge GERD problem before, I had a huge hiatal hernia fixed during the surgery because my esophagus was in the shape of an L or that my surgeon isn’t really a bariatric surgeon, but a thoracic surgeon that I was sent to because of the L shape in my esophagus. -

Unable to get enough fluids or protein 5 weeks post-op
toodlerue replied to Jlw1403's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
If you are drinking your protein this can count as your fluid intake (this is what my nutritionist told me) for the 1st couple of months. Try adding something like Drip Drops or Liquid IV to your water. Set a time for every 15 min to drink, even it’s a little sip. I’m over 5 years out & I still have a time set with the Baritastic app yo remind me to drink. -

3 Months Post-Op: 50 lbs dropped! But, I am Weak

Good for you! Try adding an electrolyte water to your fluids like Drip Drops or liquid IV. That really help me when I was feeling “punie” -
When did you have the surgery? Take a deep breath to relax. Maybe your body just needs sometime to work into your new routine. Your stomach had been through some major trauma! I’m sure it will be alright.

I haven’t heard anything like that before. If you reheat in the microwave maybe try the stove top instead.

I’m over 5 years out. I eat about 2oz protein & one oz veggies for dinner. I have 5 small meals a day. When we go out I eat about 1/3 of the protein & about 3 small bites of veggies. If I go over that I know I will put on weight. If I eat more then that I end up throwing up.

I drink about 3oz of fresh juice for a snack. I love carrots, cucumber & beets. I juice up a bunch & freeze 3oz in breast milk bags (they are much stronger then regular ziplock bags) and have one every couple of days.

Bypass +Hiatal H+ Barrett's- Two Months Out from Surgery
toodlerue replied to Deep6's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Congratulations on doing so well. I had a bypass over 5 years ago & I still weight my food at home. I never go over 3.5 oz. I do 2 oz of protein & the rest in veggies or fruit. You have a great attitude & will do well. -
Sounds like an amazing day!

After you loose a considerable amount of weight you really should have another sleep study. I lost 70 lbs & still have to use one! I’ve been using one for 18 years 🤦♀️

What a great achievement! Congratulations!!!!!

Eating too much 6 days post op RNY
toodlerue replied to lolyschmoney's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Wow! That seems like a lot of calories so soon. I think I didn’t have more than 800 for the 1st 6 months. I was told to concentrate more on protein. To have 60-90 grams a day. Good luck to you. -
Congratulations!!! You can show us pictures whenever you want want!

I’m not pre diabetic but I would suck on a mint when this would happen. I’m over 5 years out & this only happened during the 1st year.

You’re really not eating anything, it’s all liquid 😹 Sorry for being a smart a$$ I just couldn’t resist.

You can wear the same clothes home that you wore to the hospital. You won’t be in them for long.
