Losing control (sadness over major loss)
toodlerue replied to perfektlynrml's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm so, so sorry for your loss. That has got to be really hard. People seem to really only think about what the mother of the child is going through. The rest of the family goes thought devastating greif & loss too. Please find someone to talk to or a support group to help you get throught this. -
Feel Amazing almost 6 months out!
toodlerue replied to Amanda0911's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Wow! Your backside looks amazing 😂🤩😉 -
SO SORRY! I meant Meclizine (Dramamine).
-
I’m over 2 years out & carry meloxicam with me all the time. I have to take at least 4 times a week. I buy it on Amazon.

This is something you should talk to your doctor about. As a nursing couple you need a certain amount of quality calories to maintain breast feeding if you want to continue it. There are also some meds you can take that are safe for the baby that can increase your milk production. You could also seek out the help of a lactation consultant One helped me tremendously! I wish you the best of luck with continued breast feeding if that’s what you want to do. My youngest & I were a nursing couple for 28 months & it was amazing to provide so much of the “good stuff” for so long.

I took meclizine (Dramamine) for almost a year out from my RNY. I am 2.5 years out now & I carry it in my purse & have to take some at least once a week. I buy it by the bottle in Amazon. I sometimes still have 2 protein drinks a day. It’s just easier & then I’m not eating crappy food either. If I’m going somewhere around lunch time I take one with me in a lunch box.

What to bring to the hospital?
toodlerue replied to xoxomaya's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I wear the same thing home that I wore to the hospital. You won’t be in them for very long either day. Your own pillow. You may need it in the car on the way home to hold against your tummy if the roads are bumpy. And what everyone else said. -
I have been using PatchMD vitamins. My vitamin levels have been fine.
-
I used to before I had a RNY. I always kept a can of Coke in the fridge to take a couple of swallows to help the food go down. At a restaurant I would always order a Coke just incase. If would be miserable if I waited until it happened & I asked the server to bring me one.

If the kids don’t care about traditional Thanksgiving Day food get food from your favorite restaurant or make a special meal. Play some silly games. Go to the movies. Just make some memories together. I too am dealing with an empty nest this year. My youngest moved 1100 miles away 2 months ago! My husband is working 6 12 hour days a week right now. It’s just me & the dogs home all day long!

Anyone have surgery with a Nutcracker Esophagus?
toodlerue replied to SunshineandRazberry's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had to Google the hospital because I have never heard of that one and I’ve lived in Phoenix since 1967. Good Sam is a good hospital but I didn’t know they did gastric bypass there. Good luck to you! -

Never heard of that before. Who is your surgeon in Phoenix? What hospital will you be at. Asking because my daughter & I have both had a RNY but with dr in the Phoenix area. -
Is this what your doc recommended to use? I have never heard of it before. I think most of us just used broths, juices or a protein shake.

How long does pain last?
toodlerue replied to Soon2BThinKim's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Where is the pain at? Is it the pain in your left shoulder? That’s pain from the gas they use to blow your abdomen up. That pain depends on how well your surgeon is at getting all the gas out. Mine lasted 3 weeks & it was bad! My daughter had a different surgeon as did have any pain! Heat & a tens unit helped me through it. -
One week before surgery
toodlerue replied to Eats with Two Forks's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I loved reading your story. Thanks for sharing it with us. Food is always gonna be a struggle, surgery just helps you get to your goal faster. Just like an alcoholic has to remain sober. Obesity is a disease. Please follow all of the guidelines that your surgeon gives you!!! I wish I would have never let sugar & alcohol back into my life. I am struggling so much right now. Best of luck to you. -
How Soon Until You Can Exercise?

Usually 6 weeks. Just like any other major surgery! -
I do Pilates 5 days a week. I can’t go on walks because of hip problems. I wish I could!

Dilated jejunal loops?
toodlerue replied to tarotcardreader's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I Googled that & Google didn’t even really know! It’s not just the pain from the gas that is used to inflate the abdomen during surgery? Mine hurt for 3 weeks! I always have trouble with that! Hope they figure it out for you! -

34 Days Post Op eating trouble (Phase 4 )
toodlerue replied to IsaSamu's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Maybe your pouch just isn’t ready for that stage. Or maybe your pouch doesn’t like the brand of protein you are giving it. It’s. Ok to stay in stage 3 for a little bit longer. -

What foods are you cleared to eat at one month out?
-
I take 300mg in the morning & 600mg at night. I had surgery over 2 years ago. I have been on Gabapentin for about 7 years. At one time I took 1800 mg a day. I take so many different prescriptions it’s hard to pin my nausea on any of them. I just take 1-2 meclizine a day.
