Yes. Find a hobby. I have learned to crochet from YouTube! The Dollar Tree sells cotton yarn. Then you only need a crochet hook (get what the yarn says to use) and a large eye needle. Start off making dish cloths. Very simple & they are great for cleaning!

I got Covid but my bypass was over 3 years ago. I only had a massive headache for about 36 hours. You are taking that many meds now after the bypass for reflux? Some docs have you take at least an omeprazole or Prevacid after. Mine told me to take it for the rest of my life. But I had a bypass just because of acid reflux.

Stomach pain / nausea 9 days post op
toodlerue replied to Bariatric_Babe's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Did you Surgon give you anything for nausea? This is weird but try taking a teaspoon of raw oatmeal. Wash it down with water if it gets too dry in your mouth. I’m over 3yrs post op. I buy meclizine by the bottle on Amazon & take it about 4-5 times a week. I always do the oatmeal when I’m at home, but I do the meclizine if I’m out somewhere. I hate feeling nauseous! -
Didn’t your Surgon give you any instructions? Does your insurance have a dietitian you can speak with? Mine did & she called me weekly during the 1st month. You should only be having broths & stained cream soups the 1st week. Make sure you stay hydrated but DO NOT drink any carbonated beverages, no sweet beverages, no caffeine & no sugar.

Breast Reduction after WLS approval
toodlerue replied to Katja's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had reduction surgery 8 years before my WLS. I didn’t have to do any PT or anything before. My doctor had to provide proof that it was needed for insurance. Tell them that I had tried PT & that I was currently seeing a pain specialist for back pain. -
Weight gain after Bypass surgery
toodlerue replied to Lisa LoVuolo's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I regained 1/2 of what I lost 😠 I used the Fast Metabolism Diet by Haylie Pomroy. I lost what I had gained & then hit my goal weight over 3 years after my bypass. The diet recommends eating a lot of food each day. I couldn’t do that but I did follow what foods to eat in each phase & did it for 1 month. Then I loosely followed along & kept loosing. We just got back from vacation today. We ate way too many bad things so we are gonna do it for another month starting on Monday (it’s easier to keep track of the phases if you start on a Monday). My whole body felt better & my face waits swollen each morning. There is a very good Fast Metabolism group on FB. They are always very helpful & answer questions pretty quickly. you can always send me a PM if you have any questions. -
Did you add any liquid? The Mayo is probably to thick to make a purée with chicken.

Lots of us have regret the 1st month. Give it time, it will get better. You have just put your body through a major shock! Just take it easy & slow down your eating. Take one bite, wait 10-15 min then take another. In a couple of days shorten the time between bites. You’ll get there.

Ask him if could handle a liquid diet or how he would like to be on one for an extended amount of time.

Best Calcium chews after bypass surgery
toodlerue replied to Michele 2021's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
The Caltrate chewable tablets have been discontinued? What about the soft chewable ones? I just bought the soft ones because Walmart was out of the tablets. I know we shouldn’t use gummy’s. Regular Calcium pills are way to big to take anyway😹 -
Only acetaminophen unless you go to a doctor. I that ritzatriptan for migraines.

Yes! It’s called Vasovagal Syncope https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/vasovagal-syncope/symptoms-causes/syc-20350527 I had one a month ago & passed out from extreme pain & broke my ankle! After reading about it I realized I have had them before I just didn’t pass out but my ears were ringing & I was getting tunnel vision. (My daughter has been having them too, she had a RNY when she was 23 - she passed out in a convenient store last week!) I have noticed that I get over heated easer & my blood sugar seems to drop more. I am over 3 yrs out from RNY. -
Sounds like you are doing good. Here’s the thing about sleep apnea, it is really hard on your heart & can lead to an earlier death. Yes the mask is hard to sleep with. Your right, you can’t catch your breath through your mouth when you have air constantly pushing through your nose. You just gotta learn to keep your mouth shut when using it. It’s even hard to talk with it on. I have slept with one since about 2005. It seriously takes 2 years to get used to. I jokingly say that I sleep with it so my husband won’t hit me. He has to get up really early in the morning & he needs a good nights sleep so I learned to sleep with it for him. Now it’s hard to sleep without it.

I had RNY at 53 for medical reasons not related to obesity even through I was over weight. I lost 70 lbs in about 8 months. -
Think I am in trouble 3 months out
toodlerue replied to SoulGardener's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Oh my! What does your Surgon say? Sounds like they might need to got in & take a look. -
Measure out your food. At 3 weeks you should probably be having 3 oz per meal. I’m 3 years out & still measure my food at home. Eating until you are full isn’t really a good idea.
-
Then try taking the meds before you eat.
-
Did the surgeon give you any anti- nausea meds? You can try OTC Dramamine - the kind with Meclizine. I'm over 3 years out & I carry some with me at all times. I still get nauseous at times. I buy the meclizine in bulk from Amazon!

I was gonna say the exact thing that Kristieshannon said! Protien, water, walking & stool softeners. You may need a laxative or enema (If you feel like it's right there but is too hard to come out) to get things started. -
Have you vomited a lot after surgery!? My severe Hiata Hunias was caused by vomiting so much during pregnancy, I had severe Hyperemessis Gravidarium for both of my pregnancies & 3 miscarriages. I hope the omeprazole helps control your GRED. I have to take pantoprazole for the rest of my life so they won’t come back & I had A RNY.

Vitamin A supplementation
toodlerue replied to Wahinebythesea's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I use the PatchMD multi. They have 900mcg RAE which is 100% daily dose. For 3 years my vit A has been great. Vit A isn’t meausured mcg IU. It’s measured by mcg. I would ask for more clarification. -
I used Magnesium Citrate (capsules) for constipation. A naturopath started me on a combo of magnesium (citrate, malate, glycinate) last week to help with pain & getting a better nights sleep. I usually only sleep for a few hours because a different pain wakes me up every night! The 1st 2 nights I did have the best sleep I’ve had in a while!
