Protein shakes making me sick
jules1 replied to lo.la's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bodiez do protien water in kiwi fruit and other flavours. Apple juice also counts in clear liquid though it isn't protien of course -
I agree. As a theatre nurse the throat use is dry and irritating. Some people get extra affected by the side effects. It will pass[emoji846]

4 days post op sleeve — gas pain is horrible!
jules1 replied to AiyanaC's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
As a theatre nurse gas pain is usually passed by 48 hrs. I wonder if the delayed gaspain is due to stomache surgery being involved. When I worked GIT(gastro surgery) nursing we gave patients peppermint water concentrate. -
Hi, thanks I'll love the cauliflower/cheese soup as I tend towards savoury flavours. Your home garden sounds great. I grow herbs, chard and cos lettuce and have been prepping today for post op. I did Kent pumpkin. Chard and carrots. All cooked softer than usual. I just had to make sure I froze correct amounts for reduced stomach. I realise preop diet sheet says squash allowed so I think pumpkin is in the squash family so I added a bit to my vegetable curry. I also made a rustic vegetable soup with some cannelini beans for protein. I am pretty nervous as it will be hard to feel so hungry while feeding family as normal and I am a midnight snacker which will be difficult to curtail. My dietician said to have protein snacks if I get hungry. Are you worried about hunger?

Protein shakes making me sick

I got Bodiez unflavoured protein powder. I can add it to soups and drinks. They also do flavoured protein waters. -
I wondered if anyone here knows if pumpkin is allowed in 2 week preop diet. My diet sheet hasn't mentioned it.

That's great. Colonoscopy patients are usually given sedation medication instead of general anasthaetic- unless of course a GA given due to a health concern. Discuss issues with anaesthatist and they can often prescribe intra op or post op medication to improve experience for you. I hope it goes better this tim around[emoji5]

Yes i have fine hair though a lot of it, but its just come back properly from my last pregnancy and started sitting properly as i style it again. Let me know about calcium but I'd say its because dairy and greens intake reduced. Saying that I'd say dieticians all have different preferences they advise on. I watched dr Matthew weiner on You Tube and he recommends Biotin 10000. A big dose but worth it if it helps. Watch his hair loss video. Its very informative[emoji3] Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

Hi. I understand it's something we all worry about. I can reassure you as a theatre nurse I have so rarely seen this occur. A car accident is way more likely. Saying that I worry also and think it's totally normal. Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

Yep i get nauseous easily too so i went with Bodiez unflavoured protien water powder and plan to add to soups water etc. Scared about vitamins so have gone chewable and will take late arvo as i couldn't even tolerate multivitamin during pregnancies. Do those calcium tablets give nausea? I haven't tried them yet and they look huge. Need to get biotin also for my hair. My dietician starts vitamins in preop diet but it will give me time to work out a routine and if i can't tolerate them for a couple weeks post op it hopefully won't matter too much. Sounds like me taoz. Have to provide food etc to my hubby and 2 boys. It can be stressful when u don't need to be tempted by food preop and are dealing with own diet postop. Trying to get organized and freeze things. My boy turned 6 in March and we did flip out this yr. Worth every cent I think. The heat here is still like Summer. I am looking forward to Autumn if it ever arrives but we had family from Ireland so they loved the heat. I have to start freezing some more meals now myself or i know my kids would live on Red Rooster. I am very particular with my kids diet and like them to eat lots of veges and salad. Hi it could be the amount of sweetener in shakes. Artificial sweeteners cause stomach pain and diarrhea. My dietician gave me a food only based plan as well as usual optifast one but also told me about a bodiez protien water. I got unflavored to add to water, food etc after surgery. I hate sweet things so was worried about tolerating protien shakes. Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app -

Thanks. That is reassuring. Luckily my surgeon doesn't put in a drain. Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app -

I've had 2 x caesareans but wondered if this surgery was more painful. I am not good with pain meds stronger than paracetamol as I get nausea I really hope I can have a shower morning after surgery also but I imagine that will be fine as they will encourage movement. -
I've got a skirt style swimsuit and while they look better on and conceal stomach hang, they do billow around you in the water like a small parachute which can be a bit embarrassing. If you don't have bad stomach hang I'd recommend board shorts

Anyone with no hair loss after 3 months?

I have been watching Dr Matthew Weiner on you tube and he recommends Biotin 10,000. I am preop but will try that I think. -
That's great. My surgery is May 2nd.
