Hi, if you watch dr Matthew Weiner on you tube he explains hair loss at different stages after surgery and time frames for what reasons. I know after a certain period of time it can be due totally to iron levels as if they drop too low you start losing hair. It may be due to surgery shock and initial diet changes though. Watch his hair loss video as it's very informative and maybe get a ferrotin blood test making sure your iron stores are checked also. This is a different test to a general full blood count and shows a more detailed picture for your iron levels.

That's a good idea on dresses. I will pack a coupon loose swing dresses I have. Often hospital rooms are hot. I am nervous but excited to start my weight loss journey. I have some photos near my fridge of when I was size 8-10 to keep in mind how good it will be to slim down if I'm struggling at any point.

It's good to read that as I'm so worried. I am in my 1st week low carb/fat diet and I'm starving. I have caved in a couple times now and had extra carbs such as toast and last night instant noodles during night. My dietician said if I get hungry to have extra vegetables and last resort extra protein. I am eating extra veg and protein and it's not working for my hunger for long. I am now finding myself fighting binge eating. By the way I don't have an eating disorder and definitely don't binge eat normally. Should I ring my dietician and ask if I can eat a normal balanced diet do you think.

Could be a bit of pulling as skin starts knitting together forming slight scar tissue. Particularly as it's 11 days post op

Is it at a bar? If so you could ask barman to pop some fresh lime and maybe mint in a glass water. People that push you to drink may assume you're having a vodka lime soda or mojito then.

Hi, I'm May 2nd. I am going to pack leggings and loose tshirts for daytime. A loose long cardigan if it's cold. Made sure I have comfy undies. I have stretch crop top type bras that pull on over head. Much more comfy than proper wire ones. I have some loose nighties for sleep time. I'll bring a light dressing gown in case I'm worse than I expect first day and not up to dressing. It's nice to have some coverage if nurses and drs in and out. God I hope I get a private room.

4/17/18 is my day! Anyone else having surgery in April? How’s your Pre-op diet going?

Hi, thanks Nikki. I feel a bit better mentally today and have been thinking of a nice recipe I can make up with my low carb vegetables and herbs. I still have the constant headache but assume it's carb withdrawal. It's funny as I've been dying to eat a piece of sponge or donut and I don't eat sweets usually. I think it's the sudden withdrawal of all the bread my body was getting. I imagine it does get easier after a week as your not feeling too bad. -

My surgery is May 2nd and I'm really struggling with preop. Today is day 2. My son is on school holidays and we went to shops and had lunch in food court. We got mini felafel kebab and while I got lots of salad in it I know the carb ratio exceeded my 1 serve a day allowance. I have been topping up with soup and verges but sometimes needing extra protein like a hard boiled egg to. Also finding it hard doing all family's meals and snacks is making me feel so angry at my husband for not even bothering to help. Is anyone else feeling like this. Hangry and teary. -
Hi hopeful. I can understand your anxiety regarding operation with your medical issues and why you hoped for a proper consultation with anaesthetist in their rooms. These days it is regularly done just before theatre or in a pre admission clinic. What may be helpful to put your mind more at ease is if you find out who your anaesthist will be and ask your GP to draft a medical letter that can b. Faxed ahead to anaesthetists rooms outlining your intra op requirements. Keep a copy to put in your patient notes on day by the admitting nurse also. This will make sure all bases are covered. Believe me the most important person in the operating room is your anaesthetist. It's important you feel safe and secure in their hands

Good luck. I'm May 2nd also. There are a lot of us but as I'm in aus, i think its a day ahead really.

Thats a good idea if i get sick of unflavoured as it won't be so sweet

Weird that no one at work has commented on my weight-loss..

Hi. You can notice. I think maybe it because you're face never looked fat and i know I've said to people before "you look great, have you lost weight" and they've said no. That can be pretty embarrassing. A bit like you shouldn't ask someone if they're pregnant. Maybe your colleagues think it might offend. -
Just saw. BIPRO do unflavoured protien powder also. Looks the same as Bodiez
-
Hehe i was the difficult patient who flatly refused optifast so i think they generally have this as back up option thank god.
-
Hi i just saw Bipro in America do protien water sweetened with stevia. They have flavoured ready to go. Not sure on unsweetened.
-
I think its on ebay so you should be able to get it but i doubt in time. America has so much more than Australia with options so you probably can get it under a different brand.

This is the diet I got from surgery dietician. It might give you an idea of food amounts if you need to replace shake meal again.

Welcome, I'm May 2nd. I know what you mean about last treats. I was imagining making hot fudge for some ice cream for desert tonight and I don't really eat icecream. I even made apple crumble for desert other night as I imagined I wanted it and I don't eat sweets lol. My sons thought it was the best thing ever though as I rarely bake them sugary things. They were all blissed out[emoji1]

That makes sense about coffee afterwards. I keep thinking about everything I'll miss like coffee and wine but I hope it will be different after surgery and I won't really notice it with stomach changes. I'm glad I can have coffee preop or I would find it hard to cope in morning with fighting kids, temper tantrums and moody cranky hubby.😱

That is so good and imagine the kilos you'll lose over next 2 weeks preop(starvation diet)Lol. I am so looking forward to getting under 100kg again. I know when I went up that extra 10kg from90's -100kg I really noticed it physically and mentally. Every bit we lose I'm positive will give us more energy and enthusiasm. It's hard work carrying our big loads of weight. I know often I have felt so trapped in my own body. It's not like an uncomfortable outfit you can just rip off and feel fine. It's funny but I was due the surgery 3 years ago and found out a few days before my bariatric ordered gastroscope I was pregnant. If I hadn't realised and gone ahead I would've lost my baby. Anyway now it's time for me to focus on myself for a change and I know my boys will benefit.

I am finally starting my 2 week preop diet tomorrow. It's interesting reading all the diets given preop. I'm glad I don't have to do a liquid diet and can have low carb vegetables and a little lean protein. I think missing dairy will be hardest but my dietician said I can have a splash milk in my coffee. By the way Is anyone having trouble with this app.it keeps freezing and if I try to delete a letter it deletes half a sentence

I feel very excited too and so ready to be slim. I am especially excited for my 2 young sons to see me slim for the first time in their lives. It is hard if you have a condition that prevents exercise. I am in the same situation and am going to get active gradually. I can't do high impact but I think even gentle activity helps keep your focus off the fridge when sitting around house. Best of luck Doxiemom.☘️

Hi. I'm in Canberra and scheduled for May 2nd. Glad it went well. The gastric band caused issues with people i knew also. I hope this procedure gets you to your goal.

Protein shakes making me sick
jules1 replied to lo.la's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's definitely correct with protein shakes. One person mentioned premier and that it's available in chocolate, banana etc it so that is not a clear liquid. That is why I mentioned Bodiez. My dietician told me about it as it dissolves without colour or taste in water, broth etc and can be used at every stage. He also said it shouldnt make me sick. Fingers crossed.
