Hi Ivastic, congrats on the loss. 20kg wow. That will definitely show in your appearance not just scales. So nice to chat in kg also. I have to keep googling pounds to kg for American posters.

Hi Baribetty, I’m curious about these preop liquid diets popular in America. I wonder why liquid is better than actual healthy low carb vege group just eaten normally. It all dissolves in stomach same way. Did dietician explain it to you?
-
My preop diet was low carb Veg and lean protein only so I left everything nice and chunky. I am still on fluid stage post op so am blending soups thin now. My struggle is getting enough protein in as I’m only managing 30g a day as I hate the taste of anything except bodiez flavoured orange protein water. The surgery just rang me and suggested up&go drink which is a ready to go breakfast drink in oz, so I’ll get the the vanilla and make it into an iced coffee in my blender with my kids no added sugar ice cream. It will hopefully give me some energy as I’m feeling weak and hungry today.

Now I’ve got lodged in my head hot chips and gravy 🤦♀️

I got sleeved May 2nd and since surgery lost 4kg. My hubby is sure they are just starving us really to get our weight down and for sure at the moment he’s totally right😄 what I did to make it through my preop diet was make a hearty chunky vegetable soup using allowed veges and I also made a vegetable curry.-lots of eggplant, zucchini etc and the base was curry powder and tinned tomato or passata. Nothing in either that was bad but a bowl of either really satisfied me when I was getting over hungry. My dietician said go for extra veges 1st if hungry and then protein if that doesn’t work. The purpose of diet is to shrink liver and having appropriate veges won’t hurt at all. By the way I’m jealous-a hubby that will cook. Lucky girl.

Hi Astro cat, it was so hard dishing up yummy roast potatoes etc to my family. I did cheat a little but with ok choices not junk. I had chicken vindaloo the night before I went to fluids just before surgery which was my worst cheat, but so worth it-yum. Saying that I did not lose much preop like others. I only lost about 3kg. It’s good you’re sticking to it as you’ll see it on scales. For me anyway it is just as hard post op. I made my kids cheese on toast this morning and used lovely soft thick white bread from the bakery and honestly could have eaten whole plate. This is where head hunger comes in. I am noticing every burger add and my mouth watering at every cooking show(I basically don’t watch those at the moment) i am sure when I go to soft diet and can make nourishing healthy meals my head hunger will improve.

I agree, I have now started sprinkling cayenne or harrisa on top for some spice and flavour. This helps my cravings a little bit. Are you doing your preop diet at the moment Prisa?

I had my sleeve Thursday. I have had some stomach sounds also which I never really had before. Apparently stomachs can be quite noisy after this surgery. I have also had a few burps which I also rarely did. My hubby might get some competition now.

I know what you mean. I got a small dose oxycodone and it tasted manky. My fantastic anaesthetist gave me iv dynastat twice during the 2 post op days which is an anti inflammatory and was great for my pain without making me sick. It’s ok for the stomach luckily unlike ibuprofen and voltaren and is used during gynae surgery a lot also.

What a great way to do it. Everyone on the same journey and goal will make it easier for you i hope.

1st day home from hospital and nothing beats sleeping in your own bed. Inspired by Taoz i made my own chicken stock. I have then made for next couple days vegetable soup and pumpkin, carrot and ginger soup. Heres a pic of my vege soup for may post op sleevers on liquid stage. Not a pretty colour but tastes great. Swirled some natural yoghurt through also

My anaesthetist had a good dig around putting in the art line. I have rubbish veins. Here are my war wounds and photo is complementary

Oops Capsule

Just check with pharmacist on that because sometimes you shouldn't open capsicum. Something to do with auditor i think

Day 1 Post Op Gastric Sleeve
jules1 replied to hopeful333's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi May sleevers. Just wanted to say good luck to everyone being sleeved in the 2nd week of May and if you have a difficult experience like me it all honestly feels so much better by day 4. Now I'm feeling excited about it all again. Initially i had an awful fear descend on me post op at the enormity of what I'd done and did feel teary depressed and so worried. If any of you have that emotional experience it will get better very fast. Even through those thoughts i was definitely telling myself that not doing surgery would lead to diabetes and worse. So hang in there through those first few days. -
Thanx. He's definitely a character

Day 1 Post Op Gastric Sleeve
jules1 replied to hopeful333's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Keep track in your head roughly as often the nurses come in at end of day and ask which can be difficult to remember -
Had my surgery may 2 and have to say its been a struggle. Had bad nausea and pain post op and then migraine hit for last 24 hrs. If i can be rid of that I'll be happy. Tolerating thin fluids ok. Just having apple juice and broth really. 🤞home in morning. Missing my boys despite a visit each day. My 3 yr old starts pretend sneezing and saying he's sick when he's here as he wants to stay in with me.
-
I’m doing the same. Casserole and Bolognese in fridge. Instructions all over the fridge. I even laid out my 3 yr olds clothes for next 3 days according to the weather with a post it on indicating the day for each pile. I might be slightly micro managing but anyone who has let hubby dress kids knows they will put them in all sorts of clashing patterns and colours given half a chance😀 i will be on the morning list tomorrow as am fasting from midnight tonight. I’m having plenty of fluids now as there is nothing worse than dying of thirst but not able to have a drink due to fasting. Will have to be up at 5am so I can get myself organised before I wake kids to get to hospital by 7am. i am now worrying a bit about the gas pain post op and nausea which I’m very prone to. I will be asking the anaesthetist for lots of antiemetics to hopefully prevent vomiting(fun times) Good luck tomorrow For all the May 2nd sleevers (I think May 1st if you are in USA or UK) ☘️☘️☘️

Wow you did well with all that temptation around you. Good luck for the 3rd☘️

I am definitely going to make some of that soup when back home next week. I’ll be glad of something tasty when I get to stage 2. I confess I was very bad with my diet last night. Knowing it was my last chance in a long time I got a takeaway for dinner. I went for super spicy and tasty and got chicken vindaloo. I enjoyed every bit of it but am now stressing about being found out about my poor preop dieting attempt on Wednesday when the surgeon sees my liver. 😞 It is what it is now and I’m sure he won’t close me up and send me off to do preop diet again. anyway onto the thin smooth soup tomorrow after lunch and that is hopefully the last day I will feel very hungry for a long time.

May 2nd for me too. I did the summer to winter wardrobe rotation today now the weather getting a little cooler and I was folding up my size 18 - 20 summer dresses etc then thought about it and it sunk in that they’ll be much too big by next summer. It was a bit nerve wracking but I then threw a lot of stuff out. I did keep some things as I literally can’t imagine being slim ever but I know From all the you tube videos I’ve watched that the surgery is effective. It’s hard to trust myself I guess after so many years and so many broken diets. Anyway here is a photo of me the last time I was really slim. I was 32yrs old and then I started gaining slowly but ballooned after 35yrs old. I was 60kg here and I am going to aim for that again. Hey I won’t even complain if I only get to 65kg.

CALLING ALL 2 WEEK PRE-OP DIETERS.
jules1 replied to SmileyMay's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi, I felt exhausted, wiped out and headaches also. I read a post where someone said her dr said to get electrolyte sachets from chemist and it would help. Just be careful to get sugar free. I think a lot of it for me is the fact I was eating lots of multigrain bread and suddenly stopped. I find I'm craving cakes and hot chocolates suddenly which is unusual for me.
