When will I be able to sleep on my side and/or tummy?
slim2be posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi All! I'm 5 days post-op and wondering when people were able to sleep on their side or tummy? I'm having trouble getting a good nights sleep only being able to sleep on my back because I usually sleep on my side and then tummy. Lisa :tt1: -

Thank you all for the encouragement.....I know a good nights sleep is just around the corner. Good luck to you all! Lisa  -
Hi all July bandsters! My surgery was July 2nd and it went very well. Feeling a bit better each day and happy the surgery is behind me. It's been tough recouperating and getting comfortable sleeping at night (I usually sleep on my side and tummy so you can imagine how I long to do that!). But I know it will all be ok. I wish you all good luck with your up-coming surgeries and a good recovery! Take care my friends! Lisa :tt1:

Hi Lisa, I'll have my surgery at North Shore LIJ Syosset Hospital. Yes, I have to do a pre-op diet for 1 week prior (liquid diet) which I'm actually happy about because it will give me a good jump start to losing weight. How about you? From what I've read on this site, most people have to do a liquid pre-op diet. Some have to do it more than 1 week. That must be hard because we also have to do the liquid post-op. For me, post-op is 2 weeks and then move to mushie foods. Tell me about your pre and post-op procedures. Lisa :cursing:

Good luck to all the July bandsters! We have a good group and it will be fun to keep in touch and share our progress! Lisa

Hi Lisa, I see you live in Bohemia.....we're neighbors, I live in Patchogue. My surgery date is July 2nd with Dr. Geiss in Syosset. Who is your Dr.? Because I'm being banded 2 weeks before you, I'll keep you posted about what to expect. Keep in touch! Oh, and I'm a Lisa too! Lisa

Does anyone know the success rate of lapband surgery?
slim2be posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Everyone! I was talking with my friend who heard on the radio today a Doctor talking about lapband surgery and gastric bypass surgeries and the success rates for both. The doctor said the success rate for lapband is 25% and 80% for gastric bypass!!?? That really doesn't sound right to me. From what I've read here on this site, that doesn't make sense. Anyone hear what the stats really are? Lisa :wink2: -
Does anyone know the success rate of lapband surgery?
slim2be replied to slim2be's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi To All! Thanks for all the responses....I really appreciate your concern. I already know that I'm going to have the Lapband but that statement my friend heard from the Dr. on the radio kind of scared me. I just couldn't believe a 20% success rate. I've been doing a lot of research on the Lapband and I do know it's a tool and I plan on fully taking advantage of that tool. I think maybe my friend misunderstood what the 20% was. I wouldn't have gastric bypass....the body is altered too much and there are lots of risks. I've been researching all my info since Jan. My surgery date is set for July 2 and I'm very excited. I know it won't be an easy journey, but I welcome the challenge....I feel it's finally time to lose this weight and really , really join the rest of the world in things my weight has been prohibiting me to do. Thanks again for all your help and support....I wish you all good luck and great success! Lisa :tongue2: -
Hi Eeyore, I'm so happy you had the surgery! It's true what everyone is saying, that he did you a favor. You are going to be just fine and it's truly HIS loss. Good luck with your recovery and keep us posted! Lisa

I'm really sorry about your bad news. I think almost everyone in this world has been dumped at one time or another but that really doesn't lessen any of the hurt. YES, you should absolutely go on with your surgery! It will be a good thing to completely focus and put all your energy into YOU. As you start to heal mentally from the breakup, you'll keep feeling better because you are investing in yourself with good health and you'll feel better physically and mentally. Keep your chin up and truly know that things WILL get better for you! Good luck in your journey. Lisa

Hi Everyone! I'm July 2nd too! I'm very excited as well as a bit nervous but I know this will be great. Just went shopping today for some of the things I'll be needing post-op (Gas-x, gauze pads, liquid Tylenol, etc.). This site is very informative...someone recently posted a long list of things needed pre and post op. surgery. So, I've been getting prepared for this amazing journey. I wish you all good luck on your journeys as well! Lisa

Good luck to you! I really hope it works out. That's such a shame that your doctor did that to you. And we all know what's involved and the whole process to have this surgery. I wish you the best! Lisa :crying: -
banded 21st and never ending chest pain is here...
slim2be replied to jls_27's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Jessica, YES! You should definately go and have it checked out right away! I hope you're on something to help break up that clot. I had a blood clot in my leg and a piece traveled to my lung in 2003 (this had nothing to do with Lapband surgery, I haven't had my surgery yet). They put me in the hospital for 5 days, I was on heparin and coumadin and the doctor told me I was lucky that I was alive. Blood clots are serious stuff. Take care of it right away.....good luck! Hi Everyone! I'm soooo excited about getting my surgery date! I got the call today and it's set for July 2nd. I'm very excited and have to thank all the people here for the great information and support. I've learned so much and it's very comforting knowing my feelings about certain things are the same concerns other people have.
