  1. It was today!!!! Omg, why did I think it was the 30th? I’m so glad you’re doing well. If you think of anything else please post, I’ll be looking at the same view in a few days. So happy for you[emoji38] “I know that I’m in my own little world—but it’s ok, they like me here.”

  3. Hi there! I have Dr. Bessler and will be having my surgery this Friday (yay). I had done research on Dr. Bessler before my meeting so I made my first appointment with him. I don't have any complaints, he was very easy going and explained everything. The staff there is also really great. I know there are a couple of people on the forum that have Dr. Krikhely. Good luck and reach out if you have questions!

    Saying Hello!

You are in the right place!! I'm about the same height as you are and when I met with my surgeon I was around 209 (I gained weight throughout my 6-month process). I got the same confusion from family and friends because my weight is equally distributed so I look like I weigh less than I do. However, it's about your overall health and I was not at a healthy weight and felt that all over my body. Like you, I also have comorbidity (hypertension) and my dad also had heart issues (he had his first heart attack at 31 and second when he was 40 to which he succumbed). This is surgery is for you to experience life at your healthiest best. Welcome!

    New here

Hey Kenny and welcome! You’re in the right place to get answers, the “hive” here is really supportive and knowledge. They’ve certainly helped me along my journey. Have you decided on a procedure? Congrats on your decision.
  6. This is perfect! I now have a portable copy on my phone. Thank you for sharing. “I know that I’m in my own little world—but it’s ok, they like me here.”
  7. 3 pounds is great! I haven’t checked BUT my clothes fit a little looser. Definitely gets better— the first 2 days my head felt like a Pez dispenser. Oh and for your coffee you can mix your flavored protein in like a creamer. I have the pre-mixed liquid Premiere shakes, so it actually tastes like a flavored creamer. I will probably continue that trick post-surgery! “I know that I’m in my own little world—but it’s ok, they like me here.”
  8. Not exactly the same date but close-ish. I’m May 25th and I’ll have been on the same diet as you for 7days tomorrow. Days 1 and 2 were the worst for me. Now I’m ok but feel like even food that I don’t like looks tasty. The diet is necessary though, the doctors need to reduce the size of the liver so that your surgeon can do the procedure optimally. Hang in there it gets better in the next few days. I can have also have broth on mine, you should check with your surgeon.

    First day of liquid diet

2 days??? (insert hot jealous tears here). Lol.
  10. I’ve read on other forums that GasX and similar products don’t really work for gastric procedures. The type of gas that we experience is due to the gas used to inflate the abdomen during our surgery. It gives the surgeon room to work. GasX type gas is intestinal. Walking, heating pads, tea and leg exercises are said to work. Check this out: https://healdove.com/health-care-industry/Getting-Gas-Pain-Relief-after-Surgery[emoji255]. I hope it helps. “I know that I’m in my own little world—but it’s ok, they like me here.”

    Pre-surgery

Thanks girl, we’re doing this! “I know that I’m in my own little world—but it’s ok, they like me here.”

Well take it easy. I’m scheduled for next Friday so I will be in your shoes soon. 😄

    Pre-surgery

Hey Bryn910! How are you feeling? My surgeon also tried to convince me to get the sleeve. I wonder why they do that. I just knew that the sleeve wasn’t for me as well. I’m glad I stuck with my decision. Hope your doing well. “I know that I’m in my own little world—but it’s ok, they like me here.”

From the time my surgeons office sent my docs to the insurance company it was about 4 days.

    Belly binder post-op????

Too funny!! Your little rabbit friend is cheaper than a belly band—I’m going to look for a NYC Pizza Rat for mine. Lol. “I know that I’m in my own little world—but it’s ok, they like me here.”
  17. Hi all—anyone hear of using a belly binder or compression panty post-op? I’ve never had abdominal surgery, but friends that have had tummy lipo or c-sections say they were life savers in reducing pain and swelling. Any thoughts? “I know that I’m in my own little world—but it’s ok, they like me here.”
  18. cammarays

    Is this price outrageous? (NYC!)

I’m in NYC as well and unfortunately that sounds about right. I know for my surgeon/hospital my procedure (gastric) would have run about $28,000 and that’s no where near the same amount of OR time. I asked my surgeon how much the procedure cost out of curiosity. Some ppl have success in Mexico for a lower rate??? “I know that I’m in my own little world—but it’s ok, they like me here.”
  19. cammarays

    Belly binder post-op????

Yeah, I have horrible seasonal allergies and the thought of sneezing or coughing after my procedure is making me nervous.
  20. cammarays

    Belly binder post-op????

    Awesome, thank you!
  21. A dream come true? Yes. Grateful? Absolutely. It's all becoming very real as I get my surgery date tomorrow. Yay!!! But now the "nevers" are creeping in. I had my first experience with the "nevers" over the weekend when I thought about the things that I enjoy that I might never enjoy again. A NY slice (NYers will understand the pain), bagels, Ben & Jerry's, real coffee, (don't even mention decaf) and the list goes on and on. Now don't get me wrong, I started the post with what a dream this is and how grateful I am. I realize that this is a life-changing journey. The rewards of that journey far outweigh the temporary gratification of my "never" food choices. So I've decided to look at my "nevers" like an ex--just not good for me, which is why they are exes in the first place, no? Never give up Never going back Never lose sight of the finish line Neverending story where I am my own Shero (what color is your cape?) I mean, who needs bagels anyway, like really?

    First day of liquid diet

Try the caramel or vanilla in your coffee. It does not disappoint. I was really surprised at how good it was. “I know that I’m in my own little world—but it’s ok, they like me here.”

    First day of liquid diet

Hey there! So, the worst day was end of day 1. I had a ridiculous headache. Today was day 4, and I have to say I think I’m in a groove. Yes, every single food related commercial makes me salivate, but it passes. We will make it sweet tea and java less—we will cross the finish line. Wishing you the best! Whoop whoop! “I know that I’m in my own little world—but it’s ok, they like me here.”

    Surgery is tomorrow !!!

Wow! Congrats, do you think you’ll be able to sleep at all?
  25. As my mom would say, some people have no home training. I would bring it up with your care team to just clear the air.
