Infection is gone but still leaking!
YankeeGirl replied to adelarosa33's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Abby. . You can't have cottage cheese amd scrambled eggs on your mushies hon? Its funny how different our doctors can be. Anyhow, I don't know you or your story cause I just got on here and really started posting a few days ago but it sounds like you have had a rough go at it? I hope things continue to get better for you hon, take care!! -
I am starting mushies on Monday too! I am totally having some mashed potatoes, LOL! And some canned chicken and then the next day I will have some egg salad, mmmmm, I am just excited to EAT!

So i went in at 11am for my post operation check up. I lost 3 lbs, I was happy with that, surprised it wasnt more given my diet the past week but I am okay with 3lbs. The appointment went great they gave me all of my information for the mushies stage, which I start next week, Monday at the earliest. Then I am on that for 10-14 days and then its soft foods for 10-14 days. At first I was thinking how the heck am I gonna do this? But now I have really thought about it and I have decided I will definitely do it! I did not go through this surgery in vain, I WILL do what they tell me to and I WILL lose the weight! So I am outta here now to go make a wonderfully yummy dinner for my family, LOL!! Then I am off for my walk, oh and my next appointment is on Sept 23rd and they said I will more than likely get my first fill then. Have a great night ladies, hope everyone is doing GREAT!!

I wake up with pain every night?
YankeeGirl posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone! I got banded on August 12th and I have a question. I am feeling great so far, except for night time. I am not even really sore from recovering from surgery anymore but for some reason every night I wake up 2 - 3 times a night with this pain my stomach/back and I wondering if anyone else has had it and knows what it is and what I can do to make it stop? It drives me insane! I just can't get a good night sleep, I though maybe it was just recovering from the surgery but its still happening every night and I have felt great the past 3 days. What hapens is the same each night. I go to bed at around 10pm, I wake somewhere around midnight with this pain so i get up and get a jello cup and eat it while sitting in my recliner, I am up about an hour and then I go back to bed at around 1am, then I wake up again at like 2am to the same pain so I come out and drink some water, go tyo the bathroom and go back to bed at like 2:30am and then I wake up again at around 4am or 4:30am with yet again the same pain. Again I sit up drink some water feel better and then I go back to bed this time like a half hour later. Then I sleep until about 7am or 7:30am when I wake up to the same pain?! Its obviously related to laying down for so long. What the heck is wrong with me and will this last forever, I need some consistent, all thru the night sleep!!!! -
Congrats! Its the beginning of a new life, how exciting!! I got my period the day before surgery as well, Iit was a week early! When I go to the hspital I told the nurses and they went and got these real thin gauzy kind of boy short panties for me to wear and gave me those huge pads you wear when you have kids. I was having flashbacks, LOL!! Anyhow they let me wear them into surgery so I guess I lucked out cause I was nervous too on how they would handle it. Unless they took them off me in surgery?! That's a wierd thought, LOLOL!

Yeah I only lost 3 lbs since my surgery but 3 lbs in one week is pretty good so I am happy with that. Honestly I did expect to lose more though since our diets right now are so restrictive but its ok, I will take my 3lb lost and be happy with it!! Slow and steady wins the race!!!

Yeah I hear ya, I was feeling the same way on Sunday when I went to my FIL house and he made corn on the cob and italian sausage and potato salad, OMG I just sat there salivating!! I added another scoop of protein powder to my shakes, talked to my Doc about it today at post op appointment and she said that was absolutely fine. It seemed to make a difference for me so maybe you could try that? I think no matter what way us wives and mommies do it, it is going to SUCK making yummy dinners for the fam for the next few weeks! It will be over before we know it and I just keep telling myself that these stages are important and that it won't last forever, UGH!

Ok I need some help with a few things please . . .
YankeeGirl posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ok, first things first where do I set up my signature? I am fairly computer savy and I have been on forums before but I can't seem to find how to set one for myself? Next, I am wondering how you guys got your picture on the thing when you post, almost like an avatar? I upload a pic to an album under my account but I don't see where it says you can add it to your profile/posts? And lastly, I am wondering if this is a "group" I need to join or do I just post on the the threads in here and that does it? Sorry to sound so ignorant but I want to get these things figured out so I can involved in the postings. I think support is the biggest key to success and from what I have read so far you are all so wonderfully supportive!! Looking forward to getting to know you all! ~Jess:thumbup: -

I wake up with pain every night?
YankeeGirl replied to YankeeGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH FOR THE TIP!!! I tried the pillow under my side thing and only woke up once last night and not because of pain, I had to pee, LOL!!! Thank you, thank you, you don't even know how much I needed some sleep!! Mrs Mateo I completely understand where you are coming from! Thankfully I don't really have gas pains, I only had them the first 3 days. When I was still in the hospital the docs and nurses told me to walk, walk, walk to alleviate the gas pain. So that's what I did, i would get my pain medicine and then walk for twenty minutes, every time I got my pain meds. It didnt feel great and my legs and butt hurt terrible the next day but it worked and for that I am thankful!! I will take some minor muscle aches over that gas pain anyday! Hang in there!! -

Hi, I am new here but I figure the best way to get to know you all is to jump right in with both feet! Congrats hon, you are officially banded!! I am so excited for, here's to the new you! I am 6 days post op now and my gas pain was gone by day 4, WALK, WALK, WALK! I walked practically non stop at the hospital cause the nurses and docs said that was the quickest way to alleviate the gas pain...and it worked! Good luck hon! :-) Jess

I am feeling so, so, so much better today!! Day one I was up and walking in the hospital to try to alleviate the gas pain, holy mocha did they hurt?! Day 2 I still had nto passed gas and the pain was even worse. I was still on IV fluids until about 5pm when they gave me crystal light to drink and a pudding cup to eat. It hurt to swallow anything down, I think just becaus eof the breathing tube during surgery and of course obviously the tenderness in my stomach. So yesterday was my first full day home. One of my good friends took my kids to the zoo since my husband had to work, thanks goodness because I pretty much slept all day! I only had 2 of my 3 Protein shakes I was supposed to have and only 2 of the 4 protein meals (pudding, broth, glass of milk, etc). I just slept so much that I couldn't fit them in. So this morning I woke up feeling so very much better! My doc sent me home on Lortab but I am going to try just extra strength tylenol so I don't get so drowsy, we'll see! I am so excited that the surgery is finally over. I had quite a process, I started all of this in September of last year and I just now got banded, about time!! How do I set up a signature thing like you all have?

Banded August 12, 2009
YankeeGirl replied to YankeeGirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Leah it would be great to be band buddies! e-mail me at my junk e-mail JessicaB526@gmail.com and then I will reply using my real e-mail address, that way if there are any spammers in here they won't have my correct e-mail to flood with a unch of junk, LOL! How fun to have someone who had their surgery the same day as me!! -
Glad I found you august Bandsters! I got banded on August 12th! I am feeling much, much better today. Still tired but not nearly as tired and sore as I was. My gas pains are pretty much gone now so its mostly just port site pain but that was to be expected. I look forward to getting to know all of you and to going through this exciting process side by side!!
