  1. Hi guys. I’m 3 weeks post op from getting VSG. I am on purée and soft foods right now. I’ve been dealing with nausea a lot the past week. Sometimes it happens after eating, so I’ve been eating only 3oz at a time whereas before sometimes I’d have 4oz. That seems to help some but then there are other times when I haven’t eaten anything recently and I feel nauseous after taking a sip of water. I haven’t vomited at all, but whenever I feel nauseous I have to lay down for a bit so that the feeling passes. If I wasn’t able to lay down then I’m not sure if I could keep myself from throwing up. I’ve started taking my anti nausea meds again that I have leftover from surgery. Is this normal? I have my 1 month post op appointment with my doctor next week and I will ask him about this then, but I wanted to know if any of you have gone through this. I hope it’s just a temporary thing because having to stop and rest until the nausea goes away keeps me from getting a lot done during the day.
  2. Thank you so much. Tomorrow is a new day.
  3. Yeah, I’ve been feeling really weird not having my car and being able to drive. I know I shouldn’t drive because what if I got in an accident and injured my new stomach, of course. I think once I’m done with my Lovenox injections I will go back to my own house. Thanks for your kind words [emoji177]
  4. Thank you so much. [emoji173]️ This made me feel a lot better.
  5. Thank you. I’m glad it’s normal. Being around my mom when she’s not feeling very sympathetic doesn’t help. I called my dad because I was upset and he told me not to worry about her.
  6. Hi everyone. I had my VSG on 5/25. I’ve had a pretty smooth recovery so far. I am staying with my parents while I recover and my mom checks on my cat at my house every other day to make sure she’s alright. Today when I woke up I felt really good. I sat outside on the deck with my parents’ dog for a little bit in the morning and I felt so happy. But later this afternoon I started thinking about how much I missed my cat and feeling guilty that I haven’t been home for a few days and I started crying out of nowhere. This led to an argument with my mom because she told me I was “acting like a third grader” and well, when you’re upset about something, being told that isn’t exactly comforting. I’m just wondering if it’s normal to feel emotional like this so soon after surgery. And I just needed to vent a little. Thanks for reading.

    Any MAY sleevers???

I’m 4 days post op now and feeling pretty good. I’ve been needing my pain pills less and less. I’m staying with my mom and dad while I recover. I was surprised because when my mom started browning some ground beef on Saturday for their dinner (def not for me haha) I got suuuper nauseated at the smell of it and had to stay in the guest room with the door closed until they put it away. I really thought I was going to vomit after smelling it. This really surprised me because food smells have never really made me feel sick to my stomach before. Overall I am doing pretty well - I’ve just been surviving on sugar free popsicles, broth, and some other fluids. I can’t wait until I am cleared for full liquids (hopefully my surgeon will give me the go-ahead on Friday). Also it’s really bizarre to feel full after drinking some water and eating some ice chips...!

    Any MAY sleevers???

My surgery is only about 24 hours away now! I’m hoping they can still do it because I’ve had a wicked sore throat the past few days. No fever though. I really don’t want to reschedule.
