Anyone with young kids? How did you explain hospital stay?
AASosa replied to megolego's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I told my children about the surgery, they are 6 and 3 cause they love to jump on dad and horseplay lol so told them they had to be careful with me for a couple of days and they got the message loud and clear also showed them my surgery scares. I chose not to stay in the hospital since I was self pay told them I was checking out Pronto and did so once I woke up from surgery I got up go dressed and went to my truck and let my brother drive me home. I think I was out of there 2 hours after surgery lol I HATE HOSPITALS and consider myself to have High Pain tolerance. Good luck the kids will understand and its the best decision of your life I can now play with them much more than before and Theme parks are no longer a burden Not fitting in roller coasters SUCKS. -
Ive been stuck between 262 and 256 for the last 5 weeks and it sucks, Bu I agree clothing is fitting much better now im down to a 38inch waist and some XL shirts are starting to be a bit baggy can't wait to break into a 36 and L shirt lol... The daily struggle is real, with the holiday season approaching making sound eating decisions gets more and more difficult. Good luck hope you breakthrough soon

4 Months 9 days Post Op Side by Side
AASosa replied to AASosa's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi Kathy, Thank you I have lost another 15lbs since this picture was taken and 2 pant sizes 42/38, its been slow as I have been a little lazy with the gym and diet due to work schedule being so busy and a few too many weekends enjoying myself (weekend Bachelor party cruise, Birthdays and Football Beer time). Actually today is my Day 1 reset if you will lol started a fast last night and planning on cleaning out my system over the next few days (No sugars, Starches) to restart my program. My birthday is coming up in a few weeks and my goal is to be down another 15-20lbs by then. I appreciate you bumping this thread it came at the right time for me as I was indulging too much I am sure we all get there at some point, Just have to play the long game and refocus. Hope all is well. -
I am not one to go on Social media and post these type of pictures, as I hate calling attention to myself and I cant stand looking at my pre op self. With that said I figured this was the best place to do it since we are all on similar paths and it might motivate someone who is on the fence about this decision... It is not easy changing the way you eat or live but dammit its worth it, this process is hard and slow but happens at a blink of an eye keep grinding away and those small victories will add up to your end goal... Picture was taken March 9th Surgery was April 4th New picture was take August 9th

Feeling resentful, missing my favorite foods
AASosa replied to rs's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@aasosa I'm trying. Thank you. Of all places to share this is probably the best as we all know what were going through. The first couple of weeks our minds are a$sholes lol avoid the comfort foods and drink your fluids to kill the cravings. I found low-fat low calorie Chocolate Ice pops really helped me get over my sweet tooth and made me feel normal for a few minutes lol dumb I know but anything helps. -
Feeling resentful, missing my favorite foods
AASosa replied to rs's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You will once again be able to enjoy these treats, but trust the process and commit to the change. You will see that these things are not as important to you as you think they are... Wait until your in a dressing room at a normal store buying off the shelf clothing or better yet ordering online and knowing its gonna fit... I guarantee you its all worth it! Avoid the temptations on weak days and enjoy yourself when your in control we only get one chance to live. -
I told everyone that I needed to tell in person at first about my decision to have the surgery, and then how my recovery was going. But I never posted anything about it on social media cause I don't want the attention or everyone knowing all my business lol. Now whenever I post a picture online my friends that don't know say wow looking great what are you doing?? If I am asked in person I will explain the process to them, but social media friends get the generic Diet and Exercise comment. No right or wrong way to do it

Know your Triggers!!! AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE!!! For me its PIZZA!!!!!! Coca COLA!!!! Sweets of any kind So I avoid them daily, Doesn't mean I won't eat or drink them but make conscious decisions like ordering a pizza having my slice and tossing the leftovers in the Garbage don't let it sit on the counter or you will return and finish it off at the worst hours of the night (GUILTY). I crave a Soda every now and then so I have a Coke Zero or Perrier to kill the want before making a worse choice. Here is some info that has helped me the last couple of weeks (Excess intake of high-glycemic carbohydrates sets you up for a vicious cycle in which your blood sugar and, consequently, your insulin levels spike, leading to a blood sugar crash soon after a meal. ... If your food cravings are due to unstable blood sugar, a low-glycemic diet can help reduce them drastically.)

IT IS NEVER RUINED!!!! a bad week couple of days we are all human... The surgery as you already know restricts us from partaking in our favorite pastime activity EATING! but it doesn't do anything else if you made a bad choice or choices turn around and make good choices for a while hit the gym harder drink more water reset your diet habits ( Like fasting, liquid stage diet again, etc...) I went to Disney world last weekend for food and wine festival and drank beer instead of water pretty much all weekend, got a great buzz and enjoyed myself kept the food calories down but did eat a little as well (Not Drinking and Eating together) I gained 7lbs over the weekend and came back at 267lbs. On Monday I fasted for 16hours (No food after 7pm - Lunch at 11am) and ate minimal calories for my meals and drank a ton of water, on Tuesday I did the same weighed in a 263, on Wednesday I did the same (ate wendys lol 4 piece nuggets and a $1.39 cent doublestack patty meat Only no bread) weighed in at 259.9 new low, and yesterday I did it again but hit the gym for 90mins and weighed in at 256.7 New Low for me. So my point is don't let a few bad choices make you give up mentally, this journey is 100000% mental make the right choices and if you slip get back up and come back stronger. Good luck Stay focused

Questions about your experience with the Sleeve
AASosa replied to KymmerShimmer's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Do you enjoy throwing up? Cause if you do the band is the tool for you! (Being facetious) I had the band for 6 years it sucked, between the doctor visits making constant adjustments 1 or 2 cc at a time getting it too tight where nothing goes down (not event fluids) having to wait till the doctors office opens to get the sh!t removed the next day so you can swallow something, dealing with swelling cause of food that irritates, plane rides were fun, diving was fun why you ask pressure is a b!tch especially when you have a band lol... I lost 70lbs with my band over a year period, I then got irritated and loosened the band which was like opening a dam I gained all the weight back and then some cause it was easy to reverse oh yeah while gaining weight and I was still throwing up constantly cause dry foods do not go down well, bread, rice etc not unless you coat them with sauce (and you will when your desperate to eat something) I got sleeved in April, made a lot of changes in my life cause I made a decision to get healthier for myself and my children’s future. So far I have ZERO REGRETS except not having done it sooner cause my food will power has always been Sh!t. Make your decision based on the idea of being a healthier person, if you think the surgery alone will make you loose weight it won’t gotta work for each and every lbs lost same way we worked hard enjoying ourselves putting the lbs on. good luck -
5 days post op VSG- horrible experience
AASosa replied to kristennicole19's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sorry for your complications, some people just react differently to the meds administered. Don’t worry about eating it will be a while before your on solids just take it easy eat your popsicles and Sip your water you will get through it. Look on on the bright side you should be kicking ass at loosing weight 😜 hope you fell better keep keep your chin up. -
AMEN!!!!! its funny cause we all do the stupid farewell food trip and yet after surgery you can choose to eat whatever the hell you want. It’s just a MUCH smaller portion than before and you will loose weight coming from 5000 calories a day to 600-1200. Now when you start loosing weight and competing with your scale your going to ask yourself do I really want to eat that? How will it affect my numbers??? Some days your strict while others you enjoy some comfort foods. I still eat pizza 1 or 2 small 4inch square thin crust slices no problem, eat chicken wings sure no problem, (not at the same time) drink a soda sure no problem, have a beer no problem, eat desert no problem! BUT I fail at the scale that week and it makes you feel like sh!t plus your hair starts to fall out cause your eating JUNK. My point is start coaching your mind now, that the plate of food isn’t going to bring you happiness! But looking good in the mirror, fitting in a normal size chair, tying your shoes without loosing your breath.. small victories that really improve your life! F junk food it’s not worth it. good luck with your journey

Self Pay Surgery Requirements
AASosa replied to Kmartin6168's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Have money, stress test and blood work. Did I mention have money? Lol Depends on on your doctor, I tend not to beat around the bush when talking so I found the doctor that fit my needs and gave me a great cash price. -
I think I'm done. But how do I stop?!
AASosa replied to Screwballski's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Start excercising, change routine for muscle development. Fill that farm girl frame with lean muscle by doing so you should open up your appetite and you’ll be happy with the future results. -
Boil water first then mix with oatmeal and wait for consistency of your choice. Best way to do it don’t microwave it cause it sucks lol. Stay strong your almost there...

I had a lapband installed in 2011 and had it removed this past April and had the sleeve revision done in the same surgery. I would strongly consider doing the same no point in having two surgeries and two recoveries. The lapband was Hell I was always stuck and throwing up while loosing weight and then plateaued and would just get stuck all the time. Saucey foods became a normal just to get the food to go in and fluid intake sucked. The sleeve has been way easier for me, the initial liquid diet part was difficult but tolerable and the post surgery diet while could stand to be better has been more forgiving since portions are extremely limited. Id get another opinion on your surgery methods. Good luck

When did you start losing hair?
AASosa replied to ChloeSleeved's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
4 months out and I’m starting to notice more shedding in recent weeks. Started taking one a days men plus biotin and vitamin E this week to help combat this hopefully. I’ve used Rogaine in the past as well before surgery and it definitely helps slow/stop the shedding so might be jumping on it again very soon. -
What are you guys taking? I started using a fat burner to incorporate into my workouts I use it as a preworkout to get a little more pump going, So far I like it but cant take it to late or I will lay in bed thinking of **** I gotta get done lol https://www.amazon.com/Muscle-Elements-Burner-Gummy-Ounce/dp/B06XXY1S6L/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_121_lp_tr_img_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=J609BNTH1FMJYA287GZJ Not looking for miracles in a bottle just wanting to know what you have taken and if its working for you.

40cal Fudge pops got me through the first couple of days. Stay strong 💪 you can do this and it’s worth it!
-
Able to yes SMALL AMOUNT! If I am out socially I drink non carbonated or mix drinks. But for the days I want to have a beer yes I am able to drink a pint over an hour, compared to the pitcher I use to drink before VSG. Alcohol does slow down weight loss though and Stalls are a B!tch to get over so you learn as you go what to stay away from as it’s a balance between indulging rewards and scale victories.
-
I had a lapband and it sucked glad your getting it removed lol lap band = stuck sensation followed by a more controlled Yak Gastric sleeve your full to capacity you forget and drink some fluid and Yak but it’s quicker and uncontrolled, it happened to me playing beer pong at a party lol lesson learned... good of luck with your surgery.
-
Did you get past your stall? More Water and More Cardio helped me get pass mine as I was stuck between 276 - 272 for 3 weeks!!!
-
Drink more fluids, I find that when I don't hydrate enough I don't completely GO lol Good luck OP
