  1. I guess leftover dinner protein would be good. Since the surgery I've been experimenting with lots of different flavors but on a limited budget but it still works. I was making egg cups, I think now that I have more stuff on hand I may do some more. The steel cut oats with premier sounds yummy, I actually just bought some but I was disappointed because the protein was low. But now that I'm eating "real" food I'm not losing! My calories aren't more that 700. Time to get a "real" exercise routine I suppose.
  2. I'm sure people have posted this kind of thing before, but breakfast or lunch? I'm mostly at a loss for breakfast. I'm 7 weeks out and I suppose I'm still on soft foods? I'm gluten free. Anyway, I know a lot of us do shake for the protein boost and I do that often but that can get boring and I do eggs all kinds of ways. What else? I'm a good cook, but I hate cottage cheese so that's out. It's like bariatric breakfast seems like shakes and eggs and I know more than that. LUnch? I guess my brain is drawing a blank. I am not a fan of salad (yes, I know) I just can't think of stuff that's new and interesting. Looking back it looks I eat leftover breakfast, yogurt, some low fat chees, shakes. I need variety! So basically i just want to know, what do YOU eat?

    Advice

I saw awhile ago someone said they use a power they mix with water that is tasteless, a protein powder I mean. Which one is this and who has tried it and is it REALLY tasteless? And also, where can you find it? I use Cabot whey protein powder (I live the next town over from Cabot) and I like it, but I need more choices. If it has a aftertaste like that Protein20 then no way. Also, any recommendations on new shakes? I've heard the ones from bariatricpal were good. I use premier protein now, it's getting old. No slimfast, Atkins, or that TERRIBLE advatedge, gross. I do have some Pure Protein I like, but lately the froth on the shakes I make make me feel sick (6 weeks out) I don't know why. Thanks!
  4. Ok, I've posted about this already but I am getting so depressed and frustrated. I have had pretty constant and moderate to severe nausea for over 2 weeks now. I'm 6.5 weeks post op! I was fine (mostly) before! I'm not really vomiting, but occasionally do. I hate the thought of eating or drinking, it repulse me, but I choke down food and I try to get at least 24+ oz of fluids and the past 3-4 days got 70 grams of protein, mostly with the help of protein supplements. I still feel hunger, it's not head hunger, but it's rare. I've stalled again! 2 days ago my hands up to my wrists were numb and tingly, yes I did call the surgeon and my pcp and my dietician. -Dehydration, possibly. My surgeon says I could be a bug, it's been 2 weeks, I had a follow-up with my pcp, she put me on compazine, nope does not work. Now Tigan- terrible. The patch doesn't work nor does zofran. I've tried ginger every way possible (no soda though, no way) , sea bands, Dramamine, acupressure, essential oils, meds, magnet therapy, mint tea. anyone else deal with this "pop up" nausea? How long did it last? Should I try my surgeon AGAIN? Because really, he doesn't seem to care. "Keep drinking and get your protein" they say. I'm trying! I'm SO nauseous ! Plus I can't drive anywhere because of these meds so basically i never take them. Anyone? Anoyone? Bueller?

    Seriously?! Losing my mind!

Yesterday was really good! I feel like every time I complain about it, it goes away...then comes back lol! No but yesterday was really good. And dehydration is an issue, I was getting over 20 oz but it's definitely not enough. I'm bumping it up as much as I can everyday. I've been getting over 36 lately, still not enough but more. My issues are: when I feel terrible I take a snooze, can't drink then and when I eat I'm full for literally 2 hours (over an hour at least) and I can't drink. I set timers for water all day AND after my meals and I'm STILL TOO FULL! I don't do caffeine Idk it's annoying, BUT IM hoping that this feeling better trend will stick. Now to get rid of this cold!!

    Not losing like we should

My scale is annoying me, but I know (or am pretty sure) that it's because I am (was) really nauseous and not eating enough and not drinking enough. I've since gotten a lot more protein and water, still not ENOUGH water but much more than before and my scale barely moves or creeps. BUT I'm NOT gaining and I had my surgery 4/17 and lost 39 since 4/2. Do I want more? Yes. I have to drink more, get my calories probably over 600 and start at least walking. @Matt Z do you have a body fat measuring scale? I was looking at one that linked to my Fitbit

    Weird question...

This year I will fit in my kayak!
  8. magpie26

    Weird question...

Wow 8 weeks I was once (barely) super obese,....But in 8 weeks I've lost enough that I will go down another step and be a severe obese person. I'm winning and I'm killing this!
  9. I have chronic pain and bouts of debilitating fatigue , which of couse, I ha e one of THOSE doctors that says it's in my head. One of my other doc believes me but it's a conflict of interest. Anyways, I was on that liquid diet for so long ànd nothing I had had gluten in it, so I've been gluten free for 8 weeks, I am pretty much pain free, my fatigue is related to nausea medication. I've discussed this with my surgeon's PA and dietician they say it's great, keep doing it. My sister in law is a nurse with moderate to severe celiac, so she helps and coaches me, and I ha e no use for bread and pasta anyway. I did this before my surgery too, but the carbs were too tempting. This week I will start eating it again to 1. Prove my theory and 2. I want to get tested for real

Stall a complete week and this week

I'm 6+ weeks out. I'm dealing with bad nausea for 2 weeks now. So I've stalled for about 6 days and I'm total lost maybe 3 in ² weeks. I also had the dreaded 3 week stall for about 5-6 days. I'm annoyed because its cutting into my "honeymoon" period! But right now i! I'm having a hard time eating or drinking. But I've lost 39 pounds from my last post op visit until now (8 weeks)

    Seriously?! Losing my mind!

It's just so hard. You're doing so well (ok, kinda, mostly) and BAM! Out of nowhere this nausea and I'm the beginning some vomiting show up right when you get to the point where life starts to be "normalish" like I could actually cut the chicken up I ate and have it with my family. out of the hospital i was in terrible pain for 3 almost 4 weeks, I get feeling better for a few days and then this happened. They said practically no one has much pain and rarely used their meds. Lies! And I'm sooo not a wimp! And now brushing this off without even seeing me or even the PA talking to me is infuriatin . I know TONS of us go through THIS, but idk give a gal some hope. Today was one of my first days I actually made my fluid goal EVER! AND still wanted to puke every sip. But @Matt Z I will write that down and talk to my surgeon. I know my PCP won't budge on things. I've been looking for a new one for awhile. When I told her I needed a referral for the bariatric clinic she point blank looked at me and said, "you KNOW, over 50% of bariatric patients just gain all the weight back again plus more." I'm trying to find a statistic to prove her wrong. If not, I WILL prove her wrong! I'm just so frustrated. I bet you my psych NP is more likely to prescribe that than anyone else, she will say it's for sleep. I see her in like 4 days

    Seriously?! Losing my mind!

Actually, that was my next thing I was going to try. I hate smoking pot, I dislike the smell the taste, etc. But I've used edibles for my chronic migraines before I was puts on a beta blocker. So I'm actually having my husband try to get me an edible. I use CBD oil, it doesn't help. And for such a hippie green state like Vermont, you'd think it would be fairly easy to get a medical card.....Nope. My doctor is a witch (currently looking for a new one) she won't give me that script. I asked for promethazine instead of compazine and she just gavd me something else even after I told her I thought promethazine worked before! It's not like I was asking for narcotics! I can ask the surgeon next week but I think he's on vacation.

    Vermont Sleevers?

Hi @Greyfaery I do live in Cabot. I had my surgery 6.5 weeks ago at UVM with Dr. Abujaish and Bruce. Everyone is super friendly, it was a good experience there. The wait time wasn't FOREVER like some surgeries. What part of VT are you in? Feel free to message me.

8 months out and still vomiting

I'm only 6.5 weeks and I'm super nauseous. Oh God, I hope it doesn't last 8 months! Mine doesn't happen when eating, it's just all the time off and on unpredictable. I hate it. I don't vomit much though
  15. Do you l like to cook? There's some awesome websites/cookbooks etc out there. I even do Hello Fresh once in awhile (I have a family of 4) I use the Groupon app to get it. My nutritionist had some recipe for "muffins" that were basically very ripe banana with unsweetened cocoa powder baked. Yes, fructose and carbs, I know. Do you use the Baritastic app? It's great! Cooking and plugging it all into my app makes me accountable and I love trying new things. Baritastic has recipes too. I also physically write my food AND my feels in a actual notebook (calories, carbs, fats etc) people who keep a food journal keep more weight off statistically. I also keep my calorie counting book near me, sometimes it is just handy. Good luck!
  16. Lok put the scale away for longer, OR only weigh yourself once a week (after the 2 weeks) I bet tons of us have gone nuts stepping on the scale daily. I hid mine, but from my daughter. She's very fit and thin but obsessed about her weight. I've stalled twice, I swear I will weigh myself once a week, I never do. Oh and I gained 12 pounds in the hospital!
  17. I had and still have (did to constant nausea) big trouble getting all my water an protein in. Protein has been better lately. I've found if I put my liquids in a paper to-go coffee type cup, I'm having an easier time with water and I've been flavoring it. If I don't see that HUGE amount left to go it makes me feel better for some silly reason. But being so sick, the nausea meds make me tired and I sleep through time I could be drinking!

    Advice

Gas pills are my life, not from dairy though, day 2 on the burping is UNREAL, plus the initial pressure was annoying. The fairlife milk is lactose free so that's a plus. After my liquid phase was over I decided to stay gluten free because gluten gives me headaches (literally) and makes pain flair up in my hands. No gluten- no pain. And it's not like it's practical for a bariatric person to eat bread and pasta so it's easy. The changes are awesome! Ben and jerry's....The factory is 30 miles away from my house! If you worked there I think you got 5 (yes, FIVE!) free pints A DAY! nope!

    Advice

Someone said GenePro. I'm taking the risk and trying it. I'll try almond milk too, good idea! I use fairlife milk, it has 80 calories per 8 oz. And 13 grams of protein vs the typical 8? Less carbs and sugar and lactose free too. At this point I'm so incredibly nauseous it's hard to eat or drink anything that's kind of why I asked (and I'm too lazy to read my original post). I'm struggling with my water and protein and all that is stalling my weight loss! This came out of nowhere, I was fine for almost 5 weeks! Ugh. I just can't do my usual Cabot right now and even shakes and yogurt are bothering my stomach.
  20. I don't know if you're religious or not, but my father always tells me "God has a plan for us all." And "to always have faith" maybe corny, maybe not what you what you want to hear. But I'm not going to be negative. Maybe this is 2 blessings in one. It won't be easy, but life seldom ever is, and I'm sure surgeons have seen this before. I pray for your successful recovery and a healthy pregnancy. It's an oops, you can undo it. ((HUGS))
  21. Yes. I was sleeved 6 weeks ago and I lost 38 pounds. It hasn't been easy but it's worth it. Oh and I'm 38, weighed 292 at last pre op appointment. Good luck, it's great!

    Universal flip off

Exact same thing. 3 days later, awful, early and LONG. Bonus: yeast infection.

    Help!

So it's been 8 days, in case anyone was wondering, I'm finally feeling a little better. I felt so bad that I didn't even go online lol! I tried everything, zofran, then compazine which worked better maybe, but maybe just sleeping through the nausea was it. Then ginger (which I hate), peppermint (all kinds), sea bands, magnetic pressure point bracelets (basically the same as sea bands) other acupressure, all types of water. Broth, (homemade and store bought) I could get regular Gatorade down, kinda. But anything with artificial sweeteners make me nauseous still, no yogurts, many protein shakes, popsiclels, jello. Makes me feel sick thinking of them. So I'm cutting it out, diluting it or I just let myself have it because I was getting barely 200 calories anyway and struggled with fluids and protein. I'm not up to full par yet but at least I'm up to over 50 grams of protein and 36+ oz of water, yes more is better but I am still nauseous but I don't want to take the compazine, zofran does nothing. So im hoping that's it. I've seen many here struggle with months of nausea i pray for them. And i say a big F you to all those who say this is the "easy way out" it's been 6 weeks and it hasn't been easy.

    Help!

Hello everyone! I have a question, I think I know what answers I might get but I have to ask. Since Friday I have had pretty nasty nausea and not much vomiting but a lot of heaving into the sink to the point where my eyes look blood shot! I felt a tiny nauseous Thursday but it was ok. I am barely getting anything down, I'm lucky to get 24 maybe 30 oz of fluids down, everything makes me feel so sick. I run to the bathroom all the time but it's dry heaving. I'm almost 5 weeks post-op, I felt like this on day 2-3 why now?! My surgeon is 2 hours away, my scheduled check up is tomorrow. My 2 nurse friends suggest for me to go the ER to get fluids. Did anyone have this problem? I fear another endoscopy (I was WIDE awake during my previous one!) Plus my grandmother just died this morning! I don't have time to be sick of hospitals. Ugh.
  25. magpie26

    Help!

That was what I was thinking also. I wouldn't go to the ER without calling my surgeon first. But I would ask if he told me to go, if I could go to my local place if it was just for fluids. I'm just sitting here trying to sip and sip. My husband just informed me his stomach is bothering him (other end) he's not nauseous or throwing up. Maybe it's a bug, either way, nausea is the worst! But yes, I would (will?) definitely call the surgeon before I went anywhere.
