  1. This is not true for everyone but when I stopped eating carbs and sugar, I stopped my cravings. Then I had some wedding cake and it all came back, I gave into "just a bite" about 2 months out, which turned into once every few days and then maybe every night. It was a TINY amount, I still lost but I felt guilty. I cook things differently now, like @Laura7 does. I cook tons of different tastes that I wouldn't have made before and nothing has come out of the freezer section except veggies (not that that's bad but we lived on frozen pizza and chicken nuggets sometimes). Treats are fine, "cheating" is fine, but it can be a slippery slope. Food is fuel, but I'm not going to live on salad because I effing HATE salad and always have. I want taste but I choose wisely and I almost exclusively make my craved food from scratch at home. Good luck.

The Yo-Yo of LIFE & SLEEVE

I'm not in your shoes, and hopefully won't be, but I'm 4.5 months out and I'm 1. Scared of not meeting my goals and 2. Regain. I really never had an issue with food or stress eating or anything that I'm aware of but I'm seeing a therapist for general things but we also talk about my weight issues in the past and my fears for the future. I also (like many ive seen around here) have been become almost obsessed with the numbers, the scale, the calories, carbs, etc. so I'm working on that. I've just seen too many people I know personally fail and I say fail because they gain it all back and don't even attempt to do anything about it! You're awesome and doing something and using this wonderful tool we have! And thank God you still have the restriction, I pray I will continue to have mine, I know my mother does 12 years out. I'm on your side!
  3. I think this is completely normal. I have seen a lot of ladies talk about this. I had my surgery in April and I was VERY regular up until then but even up until three months out I was STILL horribly irregular. I think this has been the first month things have been normal. It's just your body freaking out is basically what my doctor said

    Before and After Pics

4 months out. Left is morning of my surgery.SW- 293 right- 8/10/18 65 pounds lost so far.
  5. That's an awesome body fat percentage for any age for a woman! My resting heart rate is low to mid 50s, I'm approaching 40.
  6. I get BMR and it also confuses me. I know what it is, I know (mostly) how it works, it was covered in a nutrition class I took in college but sometimes it doesn't make sense to me. With my weight/height/age/gender my BMR should be roughly 1765, I eat less than 1000 calories, and I exercise about an hour a day. I've been drinking about 80 ounces of water but I'm not really losing much, only a few pounds a month lately. I can't see how I can physically fit more water in. I'm technically 4.5 months out, 67 pounds down. I need to re-do my measurements again. But I've lost 35 inches

    Patches

I eat a lot of meat as well because if I don't make meat my husband would die. And obviously it's a great source of protein, and some of it is game like venison. I'm thinking I may try these. Are you getting yours on the Bariatricpal site?

    Patches

I've thought about them but I worry I won't be getting what I need. I didn't research them a lot anyway because I was pretty sure my nutritionist would discourage them. I'm still considering them because of my tendency of forgetting my multi. What about Iron? Is it in the patch? I'm taking supplemental iron now (4 months and change) because of fatigue (nutritionist advised) and my ferritin was borderline low and my iron was low on my 3 month labs. My six month labs are in October. But seeing your positive results are encouraging @Matt Z
  9. @shalove first of all, you're beautiful and 70 pounds is great! They say we can keep losing well, forever if we keep working it (I mean until we hit goal). So you're definitely not done! Everyone will give you different advice, you do you! We know that higher protein and cutting out the simple carbs is what we should do. I eat nuts almost everyday, I always measure them out and I'm crazy anal about using my Baritastic app
  10. I know how you feel. My surgery (sleeve) was 4/17 and I also have a mood disorder. I also take Lamictal and Prozac. My doctor (and I agree) that Lamictal doesn't usually cause much weight gain but sadly, lithium does, that's why I don't want to take it but my hypomanic episodes are few and far in between, but I do have depression almost all the time. Luckily since my surgery my depression has been much better, maybe from the weight loss and probably from increased exercise? I know with mood disorders change is big with us, making us manic or depressed quickly. My loss slowed too but I wasn't getting enough fluids at all and I also upped my calories and I've started to lose again. Feel free to PM me if you want

  13. I had 4 chocolate truffles yesterday (yes, FOUR!) the Lindt kind. I do not remotely feel bad about it. I haven't had any candy or anything like that in almost 5 months, it was an anniversary dinner thing. I put everything in my food journal. I'm ok with it because I know I'm in control of my eating habits.

Any suggestions on a good app?

Good luck! The liquid diet is like bariatric boot camp, you'll be great by day 3, I had a 2 week full liquids only pre-op diet. The first few days are tough, I'm not going to lie, but by day 3 it gets easier. I didn't work so I just drove myself crazy!

    PPIs mandatory?

I had GERD before my sleeve, but it was due to my meds I was taking, I've been on omeprezole for quite awhile and I definitely notice if I miss a few days. It's not like instant acting like tums. I haven't had issues with any GERD since surgery (3 months) but I definitely wouldn't stop mine. The only time I get heartburn (kinda) is when I eat things like chili or really tomato base stuff, I'm not a fan of spicy things anyway.

    Fit bit

I'm just addicted to selling on eBay. All my nicer big clothes are on there now or will be soon!
  17. magpie26

    Fit bit

Darin'Sharon- sounds like yours just needed a little adjusting, but it's not for everyone, my dad won't use one. It only uses GPS if you have it turned it on for walks, runs or bike rides, it will count a lot of steps at night if you roll around a lot (I do!) and it's set to sensitive. Depending on the model you're supposed to wear them looser now, I didn't with my other one and got rashes. Sad that yours didn't work out, sell it on eBay lol!

    Fit bit

I have worn a Fitbit for probably three years or more, I had the basic one but I wanted a newer one after surgery. I got the Charge 2 which I like a lot, like nibble said above it's great for monitoring sleep quality but I got my Charge partly because my heart rate was (is?) really low and i know it's not 100% as accurate as manually taking your pulse, but it keeps me more active. Looking down at noon and seeing I've only taken 1500 steps motivates me to move.

    Food amount week after week

I am 3 months out, I can definitely eat more than I did at 1 month post op. I probably can eat 3 ounces or less of solid food and am pretty full. I make my own Greek yogurt and I measure that out with my blueberries and that's about 3/4 cup but it takes me about a half hour + to eat it and that's more of a slider food. @sillykitty your link to that thread was great, that helped me too. It goes to show you how different everyone's sleeve is. It was nice to see what people ate too, I'm sick of everything I'm eating!

Any suggestions on a good app?

I use Baritastic, it's great for pre and post op, especially post op. But I always set a reminder on my iPhone, not the timer, the reminders just make a ding noise vs the annoying alarm. I know there is a some specific water apps but I like the all in one Baritastic app

    April 2018 sleevers!!

This is my third stall, my water intake has been not great lately but I know it's all temporary.
  22. magpie26

    Greek yogurt

I wasn't a Greek yogurt person either until I decided to have the surgery and I had to figure out the whole protein thing. I loved triple zero, cannot tolerate it anymore something about the sweetener. Loved the one Creek talked about, then that kind made me sick too. So I make my own now, the tartness can be adjusted and you can keep it "runnier" if you like but you're sacrificing the protein per ounce. So incredibly easy if anyone is interested, I make mine in my instapot. I'm not a fan of plain yogurt so I make a fruit "smash" and add that. I just like I know what is in mine, no fillers, no gelatin. All I need is milk, half a cup of my previous batch of yogurt, my instapot and my nutmilk bags to strain out the whey. I guess I just like making stuff lol!

    April 2018 sleevers!!

@Chrisb428 we've all been there! I seriously googled before and after pics of people with the sleeve for hours before I decided to get mine done. And I'm super thankful I found this site , it's very helpful when you're newly post-op and almost all of the time people are really encouraging and helpful. I guess we've been through this together.

    April 2018 sleevers!!

Ok what are these protein chips?! I was just complaining to my husband literally five minutes ago because I'm sick of pretty much every snack option (or everything) I have. Oh I was sleeved on April 17th. My surgeon counts my weight loss from the day we started our liquid diet (so April 2nd) so far I'm down 56 pounds! I'm currently in a stall that started about a week ago I will post my before and after pictures later, I keep nagging my family to take one now since I'm officially over 3 months out! I am doing ok, but yeah it's summer and there are times I miss certain stuff, like fruity cocktails and even grilled veggies because I just can't fit enough of those in! Social stuff isn't that fun right now as many people lately have food I just can't eat and I've been randomly getting sick on new stuff. But I'm pretty happy about things, stalls suck, I should do what I always tell the people that are a few weeks out and just put my scale away! But seriously, those chips...?
