I'm a believer in trusting your gut. My husband was the first guy I ever dated longer than 6 weeks. We got married on my 30th birthday, so I'd been around a while. We were engaged at 11 weeks and married at 9 months, only because the Catholic church required a 6 month waiting period. Next anniversary will be our 30th.

Congrats on your upcoming surgery. This is the time to make your transition easier. Get off all caffeine. You don't want caffeine headaches with the pain of surgery. Stop drinking all sodas, even decaf ones. Start drinking lots of water/non-cal decaf liquids. Walk daily. Start logging your foods to find a method that works best for you. Collect some post-op recipes to try. Take some full-body photos of yourself. It really helps to see how far you've come. Get your measurements. Again, this is really great at times when your scale is being a b!tch 😉 Good luck!

Are you just now getting off caffeine? That can cause brutal headaches. If so, let yourself have a half-cup here and there for a couple days to ease the withdrawal. Congrats on your approval! It is life-changing!

Good luck. In my area, you can attend support group at any area hospital, not just the one where your surgery was performed.

In my experience, the first appointment was pretty low-key. They take measurements, talk to you about your goals, etc. Until the insurance approval comes back, they don't do too much.

Do you go to any support group meetings? I find them to be very helpful.

@sillykitty I'm proud of you for broaching the subject. It obviously means a lot to you. Just don't rush him into it. Give him time to adjust to the idea. Now he knows that's one of the steps on the commitment path. @Biddy zz Congrats! Hitting a milestone always matters! That's awesome!

Try one Tums when you feel it. Chew it super well. If the "hunger" goes away, it was acid. You may need stronger acid-reducers.
