Six months post-op+ : The Sophomores Thread
Orchids&Dragons replied to sideeye's topic in The Lounge
Very pretty! -
I'm in for bragging rights!

My motivation is my wedding gown. I now weigh what I did when I got married (30 years in July), but it still won't zip. Maybe that has to do with the 35 pounds worth of babies I delivered? Apparently stuff isn't in the same places 😳 Anyway, I'm close and would love to zip that sucker by July!

Have you connected with a surgeon in your new state for continuing followup visits? The will see patients on whom they didn't operate. Also, look for support groups in your new area. They are usually open to everyone, no matter where you had surgery. Good luck!

You're looking great. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us! -
Please give the developer a chance to correct the problem. This site is super-supportive, both the website staff and the user community. We'd love to have you stay and share your inspirational story. I mean, you lost 210 pounds before you even had surgery. That's amazing. Congrats on you success thus far!

Frustrated by lack of information/resources from dr

I started with just a tablespoon or so and worked up to 1/2 cup over time -
Oh, guess I'm part lesbian. I love my flannel shirts! 😁
-
OK, I'll bite. I'm old and not hip. What is lesbian flannel?
-
Much better. I'm 9 weeks post-op and I'm not hoarse at 10 am anymore or waking up with acid burning the back of my nose.
-
Congrats on your excellent progress so far and welcome!

It's terrible that they're being so unresponsive, but this will give you an idea. I was also a sleeve to RnY revision. My doctor uses the same diet protocols for both surgeries: 2 weeks full liquids 2 weeks puree 2 weeks soft regular foods as tolerated. Minimum 64 oz fluid/day and 60g protein. 30-30-30 rule (Don't drink 30 minutes before a meal, during, or 30 minutes after) Multivitamin with iron -
Severe reflux that couldn't be controlled with meds.

I still make it into egg salad

That's not a salad, it's a fat bomb! Why don't you sprinkle on a few walnuts while you're at it? 😂 -

Holy cow, Fluff! How much salad dressing can you put on 1/4 cup of salad? -
Mine is still falling out and I'm 10 months post-op. But, I had revision surgery 8 months out, so that may have contributed to my problem.

Protein water

I preferred the Protein20 in bottles. I didn't find them as cloyingly sweet as some of the others. -
Does the hunger ever go away?
Orchids&Dragons replied to veroa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The "full" feeling is different after surgery. You have to learn what it feels like to you. If you get to pain, you've gone too far. Right now, focus on the amounts your team said to eat. Don't try to hit "full". I found cravings to be brutal until I got to real foods. I just wanted to frikkin' chew something! Some of this will die down, but cravings do continue. Head hunger is really tough. If you're feeling hungry again an hour after you eat, try a Tums. Stomach acid can mimic hunger. If the Tums "cures" the hunger in a few minutes, check with your surgeon about medicine to reduce stomach acid. Hope this helps. It will all be worth it. -
I think supplying an answer for people who ask is brilliant. Plenty of us struggle to handle invasive questions. Our friends may not have even considered how to deflect awkward questions and when you get caught without a plan, sometimes you screw up.
