Cooking help!
Orchids&Dragons replied to jazzyj13's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I love Skinnytaste.com recipes. They're low-cal versions of familiar staples. The recipes aren't bariatric, but all the nutritional information is given and I usually eat 1/3 to 1/2 of a serving. So, I just divide the nutrition info by the amount I actually ate. -
No big change for me.

Yes, I got to goal weight a couple of weeks ago.

There hasn't been a gallbladder surgery thread in a while, so I have a question for those who've had their gallbladder removed - I had my gallbladder out 3 weeks ago. Still, if I eat any appreciable amount of fat (say over 8g/meal) I get the terrible, cramping pain like I had before surgery. I've googled this and everything I found said that you could have issues with gas/diarrhea for a while until your system adjusts. But, I haven't seen anything that talked about the kind of pain I'm having. It is not gas, does not cause bathroom issues and the pain starts immediately, while I'm still eating. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks in advance!

No weight loss in first week

Don't worry. You've probably still got fluids that need to flush out and swelling, for sure. It took nearly a month for me to get back in the same size pants I wore before surgery! Go ahead and reinflate your bubble. It will happen! -
Thanks for the response. But, what was the nature of your roller coaster? Was it gas, diarrhea, pain, other?

Maybe I've led the sheltered life! I've never tried putting gummies in the freezer! -

I agree. One thing he mentions (I'm not sure if it was this video) is that we have to get to the point where we don't identify as weight-loss patients. I'm not sure if I agree with that. I think we always have to be cognizant that what goes down can go back up if you're not diligent. Also, we can't forget the challenges we have to get enough nutrition when our intake is much less than other people's. We also need to ask, every d@mn time, if meds we are prescribed will work properly with our altered anatomy, etc. -
I'm so sorry you've had to deal with so much pain. I don't know anything about bile reflux but I hope they find some answers for you. (hugs)

Lots of times, I think he's gone off the rails, but some of this was really interesting. -

Having already had a revision to bypass for reflux, this one scared the hell out of me! I do totally agree with his comment about fixing your brain, though! -
Introduction - Hello, newbie here! How long b4 ret to work?
Orchids&Dragons replied to ginamac's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
For the first surgery, I took off a week, then I worked a week of half-days. Yes, I felt ready to go back. I was still sore, but not in pain. The second surgery was easier, I think, because there was so much less of me to haul around. I was only 20 lbs. from goal weight when I had the revision (for severe reflux.) One thing to consider: If you drive a stick shift, I hear that it may take you longer to feel comfortable driving, especially if you're in an area with a lot of traffic. -

A lot depends on how physical your job is. I'm an accountant, so . . . I took off one week with the sleeve, then did a week of half days before returning to work full time. When I had my revision to bypass, I was off 10 days. Good luck on your journey! -

Congrats! You're lookin' FINE, woman! -
Lisa, a revision for reflux is not considered a weight-loss surgery. I had mine when I was only 20 lbs from goal weight. It is considered a fix to the GERD problem and does not have any weight-based criteria, just the damage caused by the GERD and whether you are responding well to non-surgical treatments.

Welcome, Erica! Good luck next week. I hope all goes smoothly!

I made banana SF pudding the other day with FairLife milk and a scoop of peanut butter powder- tastes like a pb/banana sandwich. Low cal, low fat, good amount of protein. -
