Hijacking a Group Session

Very rude and frustrating for not just the other veterans, but the newbies, as well. No matter how interesting her story, it is still just one person's story. -

When to get the surgery
Orchids&Dragons replied to tbarne19's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Taylor, depending on where you choose to get surgery, it may take you 6 months or longer to go through the process. There are a few places that are quicker, but most of us had a 6 month or longer "pre-op" period when you go through counseling as well as informational and nutritional classes. There's no need to delay getting this part of the process started. (And, at least with my insurance, your first weigh-in with the surgeon's team is the weight they use to determine your qualifying BMI since they want you to lose weight during the 6 months.) They don't schedule surgery until you've completed all the pre-op requirements. Good luck! -

Six months post-op+ : The Sophomores Thread
Orchids&Dragons replied to sideeye's topic in The Lounge
You can do IF on certain days of the week, so maybe you could work around your nursing schedule? -
If some of your "purge" is clothing, many cities have some sort of workforce development sites. They are often in need of good, work-appropriate clothing for clients that are trying to re-enter the workforce. Plus-size clothing is often in demand and would definitely find a good home. There are also charities that help people re-establish a home after a fire or other disaster (or escaping an abusive relationship.) As far as antiques and vintage, you're so busy that your best bet is consignment. Good luck!

Surgery Tomorrow 🎉 (5/13/19)
Orchids&Dragons replied to Ruby Hernandez's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Best of luck tomorrow. Wishing you a quick, smooth recovery! My tips: 1-don't let the scale determine your success. Through the whole process, the scale may be your best buddy and treat you nicely, or it may be an absolute b!tch. Take your measurements now, so that even when the scale is not cooperating, you can see how far you've come. 2-focus on fluids first, then protein. Dehydration will land you back in the hospital a lot faster than lack of protein will. Experiment with different fluids if you struggle. If plain water doesn't work, try sugar-free popsicles or ice chips. Maybe warm herbal tea, maybe room temperature or ice water. Try Crystal Light or maybe some fruit sliced into the water (but don't eat the fruit at this stage). Figure out what works for you. 3-come here anytime for support if you're getting discouraged. This forum is wonderfully supportive. Again, good luck! -
Different categories of obesity
Orchids&Dragons replied to gabybab's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Google is your friend! 😉 from: https://www.cdc.gov/obesity/adult/defining.html Adult Body Mass Index (BMI) Body Mass Index (BMI) is a person’s weight in kilograms divided by the square of height in meters. A high BMI can be an indicator of high body fatness. To calculate BMI, see the Adult BMI Calculator or determine BMI by finding your height and weight in this BMI Index ChartExternal. If your BMI is less than 18.5, it falls within the underweight range. If your BMI is 18.5 to <25, it falls within the normal. If your BMI is 25.0 to <30, it falls within the overweight range. If your BMI is 30.0 or higher, it falls within the obese range. Obesity is frequently subdivided into categories: Class 1: BMI of 30 to < 35 Class 2: BMI of 35 to < 40 Class 3: BMI of 40 or higher. Class 3 obesity is sometimes categorized as “extreme” or “severe” obesity. -

Starting process for revision
Orchids&Dragons replied to CarmelComplexion's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
The process is different depending on the reasons for revision. If it is for reflux, then it is not considered weight-loss surgery and the process is much more streamlined (even if you do plan to lose more weight.) -
Triple congrats, then!!!

Nausea...does it ever go away?
Orchids&Dragons replied to Taranurse 1's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
You might try contacting the doctor's office to see if they would phone in a prescription for an anti-nausea patch until your stomach settles down. I hope you feel better soon. -
Awesome! Congrats! Are you at goal now?

Re-sleeve or revision
Orchids&Dragons replied to sweetsagi's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
It would depend on why you need the revision, I think. -
