It certainly could be lactose, but this early on, it just may be a cranky tummy. Good luck! Did they put you on antibiotics in the hospital? If so, it may they may have killed off the healthy bacteria in your intestines, causing diarrhea. Definitely call the doc.

Clear liquids again until your tummy settles down. Sorry 😥 Then maybe try another brand or a different type of protein (i.e. plant vs. whey)

Has anyone heard of Malabsorption Gastric Bypass

All gastric bypass surgeries are malabsorptive. I'm not sure if yours is different from a standard bypass, You can be successful with any weight loss surgery. It's more about brain than stomach. Good luck and don't let the switch put you in a negative frame of mind. Your doctor had to do the best he could for you given the circumstances he found. Best wishes! -

Most of the pre-made shakes taste good in coffee. Seems like the #1 favorite might be the Premier protein caramel. If you do mix them, let the coffee cool down a bit first. If it's too hot, the protein shake will curdle (UGH!) But, there are lots of flavors to experiment with. -
