But we all have to take the steps as we're ready, and most of our lives, we won't be on a liquid diet. If the OP wasn't feeling up to the challenge, it's ok to bail. There are plenty of other opportunities to wish the people well, give them a hug, etc. Martyrdom isn't a requirement.

I think most of us did some kind of "Farewell Foodie Tour"

Are you handling the liquids ok? I'm sure your stomach is still very swollen.

You've had a really rough start but we're all hoping you heal up fast!

Surgery Complete! Need some recipe suggestions!
Orchids&Dragons replied to CurlyV's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Glad your surgery went well. Wishing you a speedy recovery. If you like veggies, I thought this cauliflower soup was delicious. I made the "gluten free" version at the bottom to reduce the fat and flour. The recipe calls for leaving the veggies whole, but I blended it up after cooking and loved it. https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/cauliflower-soup/print -
That does sound really rough, especially the "friends" encouraging you to break your medically necessary pre-op diet! Don't expect a lot of support from them afterwards, either. Maybe they're jealous?

I like that, thanks!

I met with my dietitian yesterday and mentioned salads. She doesn't recommend them until 6 months! UGH!

That's terrible. Hope the antibiotics kick it quickly!

I don't believe I ever experienced "full" like she was talking about. Not even on Thanksgiving. I think I'm leptin-challenged! -

I think we just need to accept the fact that these forums have many different personality types, who have many different opinions, and are following the advice of many different doctors, who have vastly different life experiences, who have widely different diplomacy skills, with major differences in culture, age, education and support. If there was only one way to lose weight successfully, even within the surgical realm, we'd all have done it and we'd all have the same result. But we don't. We all have asked a lot of questions; some are brilliant, some are brain burps. Generally, if someone is taking the time to post a reply to a thread, I believe they are trying to be helpful. All we can do is try to help each other out, share victories and be supportive during struggles. Hugs to all. p.s. for you good grammarians out there - I realize that was one hum-dinger of a run-on sentence!

4 days post op!!!

While you're off work, take naps when you need to. You're recovering from major surgery and your body needs healing time. For some reason, since the surgery is elective, we don't seem to think we need that bit of consideration. The sleep will even out as your body heals. You probably shouldn't weigh yourself at all for the first week or two. The hospital pumped you full of fluids, plus you have swelling that needs to resolve. Be kind to yourself. It will get better -
I never felt full on liquids. But you're probably not really hungry. You've been attacked by the craving monster. I had terrible cravings for several weeks. But eventually it did die down.

I used to eat very "Mediterranean" - love it. My problem was quantity, not quality -

OMgosh, 20 grams of protein in one meal - yikes! I looked at my log and the most I've ever gotten from "real food" was 12, and that was yogurt! On solid food (other than protein bars which I now use for breakfast), the most I've ever hit was 9!
