Packing for hospital overnight
Orchids&Dragons replied to moondoggie1983's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh, yes! Totally agree! -
My instructions said never. But really, since you need to wean yourself off for the surgery and at least a while after, why not use the opportunity to just stop with soda? There's nothing in it that's good for you and you'd already have been through the withdrawal.

If you like, it's not a bad idea to have a sleep mask and earplugs. -
50 days post op

That's fantastic! I'm happy for you! -
I get it at Sam's club. Some has 20g of protein. I find it very sweet, so I dilute 50% with water to get even more water in.

Wow, is that the new you trying on clothes? Good for you and congrats on your continued success! -
Sugar-free Jello counts as a clear liquid. If you don't chew it well, it gives a sense of fullness in your stomach for a while when you're doing the pre-surgery liquid diet.

My doctor wouldn't clear me to drive until my 1-week checkup, regardless of narcotic use. Check with your doctor's office.

Weight watcher after 1 1/2 years
Orchids&Dragons replied to lisaheffernan's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I haven't tried it since surgery, but in the back of my mind, I thought that I might need to at some point. It's helps me to be held accountable to someone else. Just my 2 cents worth -
When will the weightloss start?
Orchids&Dragons replied to Miss Sweden's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Don't despair! Comparing yourself to others isn't helpful. There are people here who are on liquids for 4 weeks post op, others go right to soft foods. There are people in their 20's and people in their 70's. Male and Female. Some need to lose hundreds of pounds, others just 50. All those things make a big difference is how fast you lose. The most important factor is that NOT ONE of those people has your body/metabolism. And your body is the only one that matters right now. 11 kilos is nothing to be ashamed of. It's slower than you'd like, but maybe you had more swelling or just take longer to heal. The weight will come off and in the book of your life, this will be only a chapter! Keep the faith! -
Is that why I'm still wearing all my baggy-a$$ clothes? I hadn't really thought about it. (I'm quite a shallow person ) I'll have to ponder that.

Welcome, Kristina! We're all happy to encourage you and help in any way we can! Sounds like you're already making great strides. Blessings!

More Tests... wishing I could be a puffer fish

So sorry for all the jerking-around that you're experiencing, I hope it all goes smoothly from here on out. Thanks for that video, it is hilarious!! (Which is why I posted a laugh on your post, not for your struggles) Sadly, yeah, the process is a bit slower for humans! -
How are you feeling now?
-
Congrats that your surgery is over, but sorry you had such a rough time in the hospital. I's sure you'll improve quickly at home! Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
-
No, no, no. Ten days is way too soon for the swelling to be gone. Depending on how fast you heal, it can take as long as 6-8 weeks. I had a heating pad on my belly every evening for the first 6 weeks. It just takes time, and the amount of time you need is totally independent of the amount someone else needed.

Buyer’s remorse 4 days after surgery
Orchids&Dragons replied to Gundy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You've got to give yourself time. You just had major surgery. Some people bounce back, for others it's a slower recovey. I'm sorry you have all the nausea. That makes the day soooo long. You might try some peppermint herbal tea, that helps a lot with nausea and would count as part of your liquids. It will get better, the first week is tough. -
I'm glad you're figuring out what caused some of your issues. We were all worried about you. I, too, never felt real hunger pangs, I always got nauseous. So my solution, for 57 years, has been to feed nausea. For me, since the surgery, this is the absolutely wrong thing to do. Maybe once I can tolerate more foods, I will revert to that, but not yet. So glad to hear you're doing better!

Congrats, sounds like you're doing great! -
Hope it wasn't me! I do think everyone tries to be helpful and supportive, but some of us are diplomatically challenged.
-
If he checked out the site, he'd see how often the responses are "check with your doctor" and maybe not be so worried
-
It's amazing how different they all are.

I was told not to drink anything when foamies started. But, I'll definitely give this a try. Thanks!
-
Thanks, @FluffyChix I was so disgusted I just threw it out. Maybe try again in another month.

Luckily, my stomach doesn't mind Flintstones. But I'm hoping at my 3-month checkup the doctor will let me switch to regular pills.
