just had my gastric sleeve about 6 hrs ago

Probably just a bit too much. I don't really get a good warning when I should stop until I take one bite too many. Early on, portions are impossibly difficult to estimate. Good luck as you figure out your path.

Did you try to eat the whole egg or just a bit?
  3. That's awesome! I'm so happy for you! Hope you have a speedy recovery!

I am so sorry. (((HUG))) They are definitely a member of the family.
  5. Brings the movie "Spaceballs" to mind!

I realized that my glasses no longer leave a dent on the side of my face! Woo-hoo!

    We need Fat Moderators

I kind of like the idea of the weight-range specific rooms. It is nice to be able to talk to people with a similar path. But, then again, I pretty much like talking to everyone Just try to get me to shut up! Couldn't we do pretty much the same thing just by starting different threads? i.e. maintenance, final 20, 20-100, 100-200, etc.?

    So sorry to hear that

    Regarding caffeine

It is a diuretic and they want you to wait until you're handling plenty of liquids before you let it back into your routine.

Out With the Old--In With the New!

I've already signed up for just that reason, and since the surgery has already eaten up our maximum out-of-pocket, the insurance will cover the sessions with no co-pay for the remainder of the year! I just know that I'll need help developing other coping mechanisms besides stuffing my face because stress, grief, frustration (my personal fave), boredom, etc. will all still exist.

I would do that with my solid foods if I could figure out how to get credit for part of it

    Vegetarian

Now you know what to discuss when you meet with your nutritionist! It's not impossible, but there are a lot less ready-to-grab-and-go type foods, especially early on. There are vegan protein powders, but you have to be careful and make sure you get complete proteins, and, of course, they are definitely processed food, too.

Fluffy! You're losing your fluff! Lookin' good! This is me exactly! Good luck to us both!

    Crushing pills gag

On a different thread, another poster (maybe Creekimp13) mentioned mixing them with sugar-free Cool Whip. You might give that a try

Out With the Old--In With the New!

Good for you, Fluffy! Sounds like a very productive day. 8 loads of wash for me after church today. I'm counting that as exercise! I would have done it yesterday to leave mother's Day free, but we had a wedding and a college graduation, so yesterday was out, although I did go to the gym while everyone else slept.

    Week 4

You'll be eating very small amounts. I wouldn't worry about white/dark meat unless you just prefer it. In fact, the dark meat tends to be less dry which helps a lot.

    Tomorrow is the big day!!!

Good luck to you both and best wishes for a speedy recovery!
  20. I've never seen the Fairlife shakes. Where did you find them? I also usually use clear protein waters diluted with both ice and some extra water. They are just overbearingly sweet.
  21. I think we've all got different successful outcomes. For some, it's getting to a certain number, for others, it's lowering blood pressure or releiving pain in their joints. Still others are losing weight to help with fertility issues. Once someone gets to the point that their driving issue is no longer an issue, they may be completely satisfied or they may then re-evaluate and continue. They may set incremental goals rather than a final goal so as not to have others see them as a failure if they don't make that goal. We've all suffered humiliations; maybe they just can't stomach the possibility of one more (pun intended). We all need different things out of this life. However, that was not the point of the article. This is one of the articles that comfort some people and irritate others. It was perfectly ok for Fluffy to state that she disagreed with the premise of the article. I suspect it depends on your own personality, maybe even an alpha type vs. beta personality. From Psychology Today "In a group of women, the Alpha is the one who exerts power and influence through her ability to take charge of the conversation, while the Beta will tend to listen and support. In the extremes of both, an Alpha may be too confrontational; a Beta may be too passive." I'm a beta, leaning toward omega - very non-confrontational, low drama. It's not a case of better or worse, just different. The world needs all types! Great article if anyone's interested https://themindsjournal.com/alpha-beta-omega/

    Goal accomplish

    Congrats! You look great!
  23. For me, I thought Isopure was horrible for this. UGH! I didn't find it as bad with the other, less concentrated, protein waters.
  24. Most of us had weeks to obsess like this before our surgery, but you were just too busy! Probably a good thing. You have handled absolutely everything that is in your power, now you have to trust your surgeon and your family and you will do great!
  25. @Creekimp13 beautifully said, I wish I had your talent with words. Another parallel, I have 4 kids. 3 were perfectly capable of A's almost all the time and we expected that. The other had to work harder than them to gets B's and C's. We sent him to extra tutoring, we helped with homework, followed up on whether he had turned in papers (ADD) and just had to push/guide him more than the others. He's a great kid whether or not he ever achieves educational "success." He's exploring the options of trade school because after 6 years, he's still not finished with college. We are very proud of him.
