Bingeing on soft foods
Orchids&Dragons replied to kgbhalloween's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Slider foods scare the cr*p out of me. I'm also worried that they will turn into my new "cheat". This is especially tempting since I'm still not able to process solid protein, so I'm pretty much on sliders 24/7. I do have an appointment with a therapist who specializes in eating disorders because I really want to make this work. -

Did anyone have to do lovenox injections?
Orchids&Dragons replied to Bryn910's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For anyone pre-op, this tip from my nurse: Let the alcohol that you used to sterilize the skin dry completely before you inject. It's the alcohol that stings. -
Weightloss surgery won’t work for me
Orchids&Dragons replied to Yo-yo girl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Best wishes for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery! -
Relax! You've had major surgery with some complications. You are being pro-active and trying to get all your ducks in a row before you do anything too bad. It'll be ok. Don't dwell on the past; you can't change it anyway. Go back to your NUT's guidelines and log everything that goes into your mouth. When you want to cheat, call a friend, walk if it's not raining, do chair exercises. (https://www.workingmother.com/11-quick-chair-exercises-that-work-as-well-as-going-to-gym) There are also some on youtube. Hope this helps!

Anyone else have an issue with too much acid?
Orchids&Dragons replied to moondoggie1983's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry, this is pure misery. I feel for you! I tried to get off the precription-strength Prilosec after 1 month. I only made it 4 hours before I was begging the Dr. for another prescription. A week later I was back on 2x/day. In between, I chew Tums. -
Ideal Calorie Intake for Weight Loss
Orchids&Dragons replied to Gundy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine only focus on protein and water intake. They don't even ask about calories. -
I'm so sorry about the loss of your grandmother ((hugs)) I agree with the others. Try and call your surgeons team first (I hope they have someone available 24/7.)

It sounds like you've got the right approach. Are you going to continue to see the psychtherapist for a while after surgery? I would. Best of luck on your procedure! -
Can it be a secret?
Orchids&Dragons replied to lessismore1001's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
If you want to keep it secret, tell NO ONE. My husband spilled the beans to his sister within a few days (she's a nurse) because HE needed support. (Don't discount this possibility). I had told my boss and a friend at work (she had had bariatric surgery and was kind of my inspiration and source of information). Well, she was hospitalized for an unrelated problem for several weeks and during one of her phone conversations with HER boss, she asked if I had had my surgery yet. She just wasn't thinking. I do understand, a month in the hospital can scramble anyone's brain. Long story short, her boss didn't know it was a secret and congratulated me for my quick recovery/back to work in front of an interdepartmental meeting! Stuff happens! -

Thank you for sharing. I had been warned about this, but that's not the same as someone sharing their personal experience. Good luck to you. -
It would have been ok on my plan, but it depends on the plan you were given.

We think alike! My definition of "success" is size 14 Levis. No other brand. Levis. (and not stretchy ones, either!)

Holy shit...what do i do?
Orchids&Dragons replied to xoxococojay's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I got outed at work in an interdepartmental meeting. It sucks, but other than telling the person (and anyone else who asks) that you prefer not to disclose your personal medical information, there's not much you can do. Hopefully, she'll honor your request and not discuss it further. It's a shame that people can't mind their own business. -
Glad you're improving!

It could be acid. Just as an experiment, next time it happens, eat a Tums and see if the pain goes away. If not, it must be something else.

Stuck on liquids 5 weeks out!
Orchids&Dragons replied to Krizivester's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry to hear you're struggling. Are you doing any protein supplements, aka Protein shakes/protein water/protein powder? You shouldn't give up on those until you are getting sufficient protein from other sources. Can you handle Greek yogurt? It's a good source of protein. How about eggs? Also, since you can handle milk, are you using Fairlife milk? It has more protein than regular. Everyone progresses at their own pace. Lots of people aren't even cleared for solids until 6-8 weeks post-op. Also, don't eat anything solid within 3 hours of bedtime or you increase your chances of reflux and nausea. Hope this helps! -
Welcome, Kenny! This is a very friendly and supportive community. Feel free to jump right in to any thread that interests you. There are lots of different levels of experience represented, so when you've got questions, there's usually someone who's been there before. Good luck on your journey!
