Saturday is my "official" weigh-in day and the day I change my weight on my profile. I couldn't update that without a big squeal of delight, and no-way could I wait until my Annibirthsary to share! (Annibirthsary = wedding anniversary + my birthday + husband's birthday) Since it's a technical term, thought I should explain it

I'm sorry to hear that, Kathy. From what I've heard, this will make you feel loads better, though. (hugs)

Introduction from a newbie

Congrats on your surgery and glad you found us. The people on this site are very supportive! I, too, am not a sweets person. Broth was my friend. You can even get commercially prepared soups and strain out the chunks. (This is easier when they're warm) Hope this helps! -
Glad to see you back! Congrats on your awesome progress!

Wow, bet you have not trouble getting your exercise in. What fun! -
Really, Buzz, you're waiting 'til August to see what part of Texas you want to live in? Are you insane? You move to Texas in the winter so that by the time summer rolls around it's too much trouble to move again!

Congratulations! A wonderful SV and NSV at the same time!

All the illustrations I've seen for bypass show the stomach being separated into 2 parts, but both remain in the body and connect to the intestine. How did they do yours? This is interesting. I thought only the sleeve removed the "extra" stomach. -
Can someone please enlighten me.

A surgeon discussed this at our last support group meeting. He said that while by-passes are "technically" reversible, it's still another major surgery, it can have complications just like any other, and there may be a lot of scar tissue on the portions of the stomach that you'd like to rejoin. It is a very major undertaking and really shouldn't be considered one of the "pros" of bypass. -
Can someone please enlighten me.

Sorry, Frustr8, you wouldn't make their cut for bypass based on your weight. You're too skinny! And, before anyone asks. These are their recommendations. The patient does get a say. -
Life is great 1month after surgery. Amazing meals

Wow, you've got a stomach made of steel! I was still on purees/very soft foods 1 month out. Yeah, you! -
Congrats on your surgery and hope your recovery goes well. Nausea - yes, this is pretty normal. You might ask about a nausea patch. A lot of people got relief with them. To me, the stomach muscle "contracting" doesn't sound like gas, it sounds like a muscle that just got cut up being mad at you. My surgeon prescribes muscle relaxants for the first month, to let the stomach rest and heal. Are you taking anything like that? You should be turning the corner soon. Most people feel a lot better by the end of the first week!

Pre-Surgery Diet - Advice/Motivation Please!
Orchids&Dragons replied to AEdoesRnY's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck on your surgery! My life saver was sugar-free jello, especially when you got to clear liquids. If you eat it without chewing well, it slides down to your stomach just fine, but it takes a while to break down. So, you don't feel so "empty". Others have mentioned chewing on ice, and freezing protein shakes (in a bowl) to give them a more solid texture. -
Can someone please enlighten me.

Unless someone starts out with GERD, my surgeons office usually recommends sleeve unless the person is extremely obese. They consider it a safer, less invasive surgery. -
I'm from Kennedale, south side of Fort Worth. Congrats on your surgery, hope you're healing well!

Think about being around to see your grandbabies and being healthy enough to chase after them! Your odds are much better with the surgery than without. -

Gastric Bypass Reversal
Orchids&Dragons replied to Ronnysgal's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had to look up candy cane syndrome, had never heard of it. But that wasn't your problem since the surgery didn't help, I guess. Well, I sure hope someone can give you some relevant advice. Btw, my husband and I will be married 29 years this coming Sunday. I know he would be like your husband and really suffer along with me.
