    Clear Fluids

Broth gives you the impression that you've had a meal. Sugary drinks don't do that for you. Sugar-free jello counts, too, and gives your stomach a bit of feeling of "fullness"

    Late Gastric Dumping Syndrome

Wow, how scary. Glad you're all right except for your war wounds. Thank you for sharing.

    Surgery August 6 2018 - so nervous

Best wishes for an uneventful surgery and a speedy recovery!

Help! Weight gain 4 months Post Partum

This was long before my surgery, but as far as the cravings and breastfeeding goes - you are exhausted! When you're running on fumes your body craves sugar desperately. Find some way to get some rest. I know how hard it is; I had 4 under 4. Best wishes and congrats on your new little bundle of joy!

I'm breaking off my love affair

This is one of the things our "required" therapist went over. How the use of certain words can frame the argument. My word of choice to describe my feelings toward food is "enjoy". Besides, who doesn't need a little more joy in their lives? I know a lot of people didn't get anything out of the therapy sessions, but our therapist was superb.

    Chicken salad vs. moist chicken

Just my guess, but - with chicken salad each piece is "lubricated" and probably passes more easily through your pouch. Additionally, the chunks in chicken salad are usually smaller than the size of a piece of chicken we would normally cut for ourselves, so this helps to get used to smaller bits of food before we move on to the "real" stuff. Because it's not a forkful of chicken salad, it's one little bit at a time!

    Support, nervous , and expirences

Hi Carolinaaa3. Welcome to the site. Everyone here is very supportive and friendly. Just browse through the forums and check out topics that interest you. Probably most of your interests right now will be in the pre-op forums. But feel free to jump into any thread that catches your eye. There's one called "Was it worth it" in the Trending Topics column that you'd probably enjoy. There are several threads about what to pack for the hospital, what to buy and have ready to eat/drink at home, etc. The search function at the top of the site is great for finding those. When you search, select the dropdown and you get a choice to search the entire site. Otherwise, you're just searching in the forum you're currently in. Anyway, best of luck to you. See you around!

    “I’m so proud of you!!”

I think the accomplishment is making a plan, committing to it and then following through. No one knows at this point whether we'll succeed or not, but they're proud of us for making the effort. The whole process is scary, especially the surgery. They're proud that you followed through on something that they would be scared to death to attempt. They're applauding your bravery and determination, not that you've decided to become "normal", imo.

    “I’m so proud of you!!”

I've gotten this but I appreciate it. My interpretation is that they've been worried about my health and they're happy that I made such a big decision to better my life. I actually think it's very much the same as congratulating someone on getting their Masters. I got mine in 2011 at the ripe old age of 52! You'll probably get a lot more years use out of yours! Congrats!

    Fiber

Ask your doctor. Don't wait until your appointment. Call the office. They should be happy to respond. Forums like this are great for general advice, but no one here is treating you, knows you, knows what surgery you're having, etc. Asking for medical advice here is dangerous.

    I'm approved!

Congratulations, that's awesome news! And you'll be providing answers for everyone else going down this path in the future! Sounds like a wonderful program. The more post-op support, the better, imho! Prayers that all goes smoothly!

Or maybe because you're hauling around 62 lbs. less of you? That's like giving an 8-yr-old a piggy-back ride all day long!
