    Recs on protein water

I like the Protein2O at Sam's club. I don't find it as sweet as some of the others. I don't know where else it's available.
  8. I understand. Realistic expectations are very important.

  11. Fluffy was just explaining how the calculations are done. Not advocating what weight the poster should reach.

    6 Week Goal

You're better off focusing on things you can control. Like a goal to stay totally on plan for 6 weeks. You may very well lose 20 or more pounds the first six weeks. But it's also possible to be completely perfect on your plan and to lose less. Focus on healthy decisions, not numbers, imho. Good luck, and I hope you lose 25!

OMGosh, LOOK AT YOU! You look fabulous! Congrats!
  15. Totally agree! Doesn't it make you wonder how many people gave you false hope for diet and exercise? And then, you felt like a failure later?

What they won’t tell you after gbp

The nurse who showed me how to inject myself said it only burns if you don't give the alcohol enough time to evaporate. She was right. The only ones that hurt were when I got in a hurry. I did them for 2 weeks after surgery.

    Excessive saliva after eating

This is called the slimies or foamies. It means you ate too much or too fast. It's normal, but definitely something you'd prefer to avoid.

    Non Scale Victories

I had a cardiologist appt. yesterday. The nurse kept re-inflating the blood pressure cuff. The reading was so low she didn't trust herself! 95/65. Not back to my "normal" of old (80/50) but damn good! And I've still got around 40 lbs to lose. (They used to wonder how I could even walk around!)

    Non Scale Victories

I just found out that I weigh less than any of my 3 sons! Yeah! Another 11 pounds to catch hubby and I'll be the lightest one in the house!
  20. Wow, that's awful. Glad it's out and you're on the mend. Appreciate the warning!
  21. I've lost 82 lbs since my preop diet started 2-16-18. According to the charts, I would have done well to lose that by 12 months. I'm 59 years old, so I think my results are amazing. Can't speak to how well I will maintain my loss, once I get there. But I sure will work at it.

    WHY?

I've had rectal surgery. So I'll bet that the "reverse Trendelenburg position" isn't the least dignified position I've been in in my life!

    WHY?

I read up on various procedures for a couple of years before I made the choice. Had my surgeon recommended something else, I would have given that due consideration. However, he thought the sleeve was appropriate given my starting size and my expectations. Cost was not a factor for me. I would have hit my out-of-pocket max no matter which procedure I chose. I can say that I ruled out the balloon early. I figured that if my stomach was already distended, the balloon would help me eat less for a little while, but I'd gradually just stretch it some more to make room for what my "eyes" thought was an appropriate serving of food. Then, after 6 months, when the balloon was removed, my stomach would be even bigger than before. Also didn't want the lap-band. Had already heard of people having scarring/slippage issues. Did not consider DS, my BMI wasn't high enough to justify it. Hadn't heard about the mini-bypass until recently, so it wasn't on my radar. So, I mainly chose between RNY and VSG.
