    April/May 2018 Sleevers!!?

I got my lapband to sleeve conversion done on May 1st. Here’s some things I think should be noted for those of you getting surgery soon. The air pockets brought tears to my eyes. I had one in my shoulder that made me not able to take a deep breath until my drain was taken out the next day. I honestly have never felt a more severe pain than that. Getting up and walking honestly wasn’t a problem I knew walking would move the gas so I wanted to get up as soon as I could. I went home the same day (Tuesday) and basically slept /was in a pain med coma until Thursday morning. I got up every two hours the first night and just walked through my house just because I was awake and I think it really helped in the long run. I’m on a clear liquid diet til Tuesday and it’s not bad at all just remember to constantly sip. I was out today and didn’t drink a lot and by the time I got home I felt a little dehydrated. Another thing is take your nausea medicine before pain medicine it was causing me to throw up and dry heaving isn’t a good feeling after stomach surgery. I also got stool softeners that I didn’t think I needed, but probably yesterday and today I got a really bad lower back pain from constipation. Like worse than the surgery pain. I kept doing cold and hot compress and finally the pain went away and moved some gas. Take the stool softeners! If you’re really constipated and in pain today I bought prunes, pineapple juice, and v8 green juice. Mix them in a blender with some ice and it will get you moving real quick! I wasn’t really “clear” for my clear liquids but I just took cautious sips and I was fine. Now my only pain is just some bruising on my belly where the incisions were and I’m going back to work tomorrow. You can all do it I promise! I’m down 25 pounds already since the 2 week preop diet and I’m so excited to continue my journey! Please message me if you have any questions or concerns about your surgery.

    Any MAY sleevers???

Wow I didn’t know 4 weeks! You’ll do fine though I’m only 2 week pre op diet but I’m a week in and it’s not as bad. I also quit smoking at the same time so I think wanting a cigarette masked my craving for food. Just stay busy so you’re not tempted. I got a lot of my house clean this past weekend lol good luck!

    Gastroparesis and Band Removal

Hi I got the band in 2011 and got it completely unfilled in April 2017. I am now going for the sleeve surgery and to have the band removed completely. My surgeon said my insurance doesn’t cover any bariatric surgeries either, but they presented that the band is a health issue for me and needed it to be removed. Just heard back yesterday that my insurance will cover band removal and sleeve conversion completely. Find a good surgeon and they will fight like hell to help you out.
