  1. I'm in public service for my city. However. I am not in Police, Fire or Ems, but my department does support our Police Department. My surgeon had mentioned to me that he had a great deal of police officers go to him for wls. He said many of them were able to be on light duty for a week after. Being the only woman around 30 men in my workplace I believe I can relate to the firehouse atmosphere. Men are harder on each other then women and definitely like to joke around more. I am lucky to work around a bunch of guys who are very supportive and I have shared my surgery story with them all. I know that firehouse guys are like brothers. In your own time and your own way, you will tell who you think you need to tell. I wish you the best of luck! Sent from my SM-G935P using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. I was an outpatient and am currently on an enhanced recovery plan. I had surgery on 3/26/18 with Dr.Tim Faulkenberry. So far I have lost 15lbs since surgery. I didn't see many people on here that were an outpatient for surgery or talk about an enhanced recovery program. Just wondering if anyone had or is in a similar situation? Question?

How far are you out? I had regrets the first 2 weeks, but I think it was mainly feeling miserable that I had to be on liquids while everyone around me was eating real food. I am now at the end of the soft food stage and do not have regrets anymore. Sent from my SM-G935P using BariatricPal mobile app
  9. Sounds like we had the same surgeon [emoji2] mine was done at the crack of dawn on a Monday, I had to be at the hospital at 5am and was the first one for surgery that day Sent from my SM-G935P using BariatricPal mobile app

    Possible gallbladder problem

I had gallbladder issues a few months before my surgery. The pain was so intense that I could not stand straight and cried for hours at the hospital. I also had a hard time breathing. It felt like someone was stabbing me and twisting the knife. Turns out that I had gallbladder stones and they were inflamed. The pain is located on the right side of your body under your breast bone. When inflammed you will feel the pain through your back and shoulders. Also, I think it is too early to say that the surgery may have caused a gallbladder issue as I had read that a rapid, significant amount of weight loss will cause gallbladder issues. But, I am not a doctor this is just based on my experience and what I have read. Sent from my SM-G935P using BariatricPal mobile app
  13. Sorry just saw your message. The liquid stage post op was not hard to transition to. I just didn't and still don't feel hungry. Now mentally it is a different story, when you see people around you eating while you have to be on liquids, now that is tough. I just constantly kept reminding myself why I chose to have surgery. The pureed stage is a step up but it is still difficult mentally. Im now towards the end of the soft food stage which has been much better as now I feel semi normal! 15. Thank you for the feedback. A lot of people were in shock when I told them I was an outpatient. I thought I recover fairly quickly and I didn't have to take any pain pills, just nausea tablets due to the anesthesia. Sent from my SM-G935P using BariatricPal mobile app

    Any March 2018 Sleevers?

I had surgery on the 26th and today is my first day I am allowed to have pureed food which includes pudding. Did you have a 1 week or 2 week liquid diet? Sent from my SM-G935P using BariatricPal mobile app
  21. Thanks, they are a great group of guys. I think it is very important to have support in the workplace as well as home life. Sent from my SM-G935P using BariatricPal mobile app
  22. I was the same way at first. However, right before surgery I let everyone at work know. It actually was a relief and the outcome was great. Everyone was supportive and now they know not to offer me food. They are just a great support group. Some of them were interested in the surgery for themselves and their spouses. I forgot to mention that I work with 30 men and am the only women here in my office so it was a little intimidating for me, but I knew I wanted to let them know. Before, they would always offer me doughnuts, cookies and breakfast tacos. Now, they now I am truly on a healthy path and do not ask me if I want any. They even are courteous enough to ask if its okay to eat around me, which at first can be hard to see, but eventually you get over this phase. Sent from my SM-G935P using BariatricPal mobile app
