I just had my second adjustment. I am at 320 now on my surgeon's scale, 14 pounds away from my wedding weight and 20 fom twoterville!!!! My surgery was July 20th, and I weighed 247 the morning of surgery. I am on my way. I am having a big party at 299!

My inquiring mind wanted to know why the same fill was different for different people. I asked my surgeon, who is just now used to my quirky, nerdy, must know disposition.) He told me that I have a 10cm inmed band. That is now filled with 2 ccs of saline. I am now 320 pounds and am 5'8". The layer around my stomach is unusually thin for a person my size. My band and fill on a person who is shorter or taller, heavier or lighter, older or younger, or has different stomach structure than me would perform much differently. It could be a complete restriction or very little restriction at all. The band and adjustments are regulated and numbered, but each individual stomach is not. It depennds greatly on how much stomach material the band has to go around. This information helped me understand and eased some of my concerns. I hope this info does the same for you!:p

If you are self pay, make sure that you understand ALL of the charges involved. My dr was vague when explaining these extras and now I have much more than the 16 thou he quoted me... I did know that there would be extra fees for the anesthesiologist and the xrays, but with out ever selfpaying for anything, I didn't realize the costs! Anesthesiology= $1000 Imaging= $200 ALL ADJUSTMENTS (flouroscope, surgeon's fee excluded) $800 *PRETESTS* $700 I am so very glad I did it, but I am now on the austerity program.

My surgeon is going to fill my band for the first time next week. I have a 10...(what does that mean?) and he will be filling me while I am having an xray. He will have me swallow barium, adjust he band and then do another swallow. He says this way there is less guess work about how much to fill and in the long run he will have to do fewer adjustments. Has anyone else experienced this kind of adjustment?

I had my first adjustment this morning. The flouroscope was so very cool. Dr. Minkin put in 1cc. I feel really tired today. Maybe from the nervousness, and maybe becaue of work stress. I am on liquids only today, mushies tomorrow, and then back to regular rules on Friday. Chew, 4-6 oz. Stop when I first feel full. No liquids 2 hours after meals. My port is very deep. My next adjustment will need to be flouro also. Dang... those cost $800 a pop. ** REMINDER I need to see Dr. Minkin in the office before September 23. I have to make an appt with my foot Dr. My heels hurt so BAD! :tired :tired :tired :tired :tired :tired :tired :tired :tired :tired :tired :tired :tired :tired :tired :tired :tired :tired :tired :tired :tired :tired :notagree

Dr Minkin says my inscison was not infected, bu that I had a reaction to the dissolvable stitches. It is lookin much better, I am using lots of vitmain E, just like my granny taught me. According to The drs' scale I weigh 441. I joined 24 hour fitness. I really like it. I walk at my target heart rate for 30 minutes, jog in the pool. I even took a yoga class. It was GREAT. I go for my first adjustment with the Flouroscope on wednesday. I have found several pieces of clothes that fit 2 years ago, AND THEY FIT NOW! I get hungry in the evening. I am sure the adjustment will curb that :guess

If your poop floats, it could be full of fat. Fat floats, poop sinks. If you have gallbladder problems, your bile is not getting to your digestive sysem to break down the fats, and your dr. may ask you if you poop floats. -
What kind of card are you guys talking about?

I am from St Louis! I was banded on July 20th and I have lost 20 pounds. This site is the BEST! Just get your feet wet by reading the new posts, and some old ones. There is a ton of information here. Just be sure to ask your Dr. about any huge decisions.

I met with Sara today. She measured me and taught me how all the machines work and how to do my individualized cardio and resistance work outs! It was actually very nice working out with all the like minded people. They were not staring at me. They would glance at me and smile. I love working out!~ (I thought I would NEVER EVER say that!) Thanks for your encouragement.
