April 19th (or about) surgery buddies??

its actually not so bad as long as you get plenty of protein in....it has kept me fuller longer....sugar free Popsicle...jello...broth... ( i added in greek yogurt that wasn't on my plan...but has helped tremendously) Not that i want to sabotage myself by adding things not on my list...but i have asked around and lots of people were successful adding it in...and i really feel that if i dont add it in.. i will just blow it and cheat ( i know my flaws)

    Anyone not lose weight?

i have heard that when you are at the hospital, all the IV fluids they give you can contribute to added pounds at first, but that it comes off. Are you drinking your water and intaking your protien? When you dont eat enough it also makes yo uhang on to those lbs just as if you were eating too much.

    swollen from the knees down

this is very true actually....i sit 8 hours a day staring at a computer at a hospital. So it contributes big time to the swelling. I have increased my water and have started getting up and walking around the hospital some throughout the day and it has actually helped a little
  6. Hello all! I am scheduled for RNY on 4/16. I am very excited and today is the first day of my 2 week pre op diet. My question is: i have had swelling in my legs from the knee down and big time in my ankles ever since i had my 2nd baby 2 years ago. Some days its worse than others depending on my fluid intake and activity level.however its always present to some extent. But has anyone else experienced this? And does it go away after surgery when you lose weight? Or am i stuck with cankels forever?
  7. i started my pre op diet today...my surgeon gave me a meal plan that is practically NOTHING. I dont want to set my self up for failure.... but he is wanting 1000 cals/80 grams of protein. I tried broth, jello and shakes for a day and i felt like i was starving to death. I ended up cheating so bad. I dont want to set myself up for failure so this time i added plain greek yogurt to keep me full. I dont want to fail at this....am i already sabataging myself?

pre op diet ...can i add stuff?

well my pre op diet is supposed to be protien shakes, broth and jello ( with protien powder added) for 2 weeks It was so hard to stick to on the first day because i was starving to death by the time i had eaten my protien and calories for the day. So this time...i added greek yogurt...just to help make me feel full. i am really excited about surgery and want to make the most of this pre op diet. Thanks for the input!

    swollen from the knees down

thanks! Its not really that noticable except in my ankles....they just look like little fat pads on my ankles. But if i press my thumb in my shin bone...it stays for pitting for a bit. I have big legs anyway...so you would never know it was swelling....
