Oh I am so glad things are looking up for you. I mean it’s not where you expect it to be but you’re eating and it sounds like your creativity is paying off. Sounds yummy. I’ll Check back on you and hopefully you will continue to heal quickly. We all have a different path to follow on this journey. At the end the day as long as were healthy that’s all that matters -
So happy to hear that!!

My stomach had the opening of a pin. He is furious with the surgeons because they pretty much blew me off saying it wasn’t possible to have a stricture and lo and behold here I am. The first endoscopy opened it a tiny bit for water and juice to pass through. So I have been sipping water and juice. So glad I don’t have to go to the hospital anymore for IV fluids every other day. My next endoscopy is Monday and this is going to be for a series of weeks until they can get it big enough so that I can actually swallow something. Not a good scenario. If anybody is reading this and you feel that you cannot swallow something and your doctor says it’s acid reflux, run to your Gastro because your doctor is wrong. Orchids, thanks so much for lending me an ear throughout this ordeal. How are you making out? I know you have stuff of your own going on. -

Anyone else HATE Protein Water?
Starfish23 replied to Snapple's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Gross gross gross. I can actually gag thinking about it -
MdmMardott. Which unflavored protein powder did you use? I tried GenePro and it was disgusting. Returned it to Amazon. Thank goodness they take returns like that. Is there one that has no horrible after taste?

Prayers to everyone for all of your specific needs. Please pray for me as well. They think I have a stricture which means I’m still of clear liquid bcus my opening closed to a pinhole. I’ve been going to the hospital for every couple days for IV hydration. I’m starting a weekly endoscopy on Monday to balloon the opening so I can eat. I have 5 weeks until I go to Greece. Doctor said I may not be able to go if the stoma isnt stretched enough by that time. My prayer request is to have this all worked out so that I can be healed and that I may go on this trip. Love to you all -

"10 days notice before bypass"-questions

These vitamins are great. They are like a pixie stick powder. From what I understood, my doctors group put these together and have everything you need. They are delish! I was using the patches but the can’t get wet and in the summertime I found myself not putting them on during the day and then forgetting at night. This one is easy peasy and it’s like a candy treat! -
I am 3 weeks post op. Whatever I eat, which is soup, baby cereal, pudding, etc. feels blocked at about 2 or 3 teaspoons. Then I get the foamies, then I throw up. I can’t get any liquid to stay down bcus it’s feels blocked. It comes back up. Protein drinks are a catalyst for throwing up. I just can’t. So I feel like I’m dehydrated and starving. It’s a challenge to take my antacid pill. Sometimes it feels like it slides down. Other times it feels like it’s stuck sideways and then the day is done. I get the foamies and whatever I try to eat or drink comes back up. Then I think maybe the opening is too small. The scale isn’t moving much either. I am leaving on a trip to Europe at end of July for 2 weeks and I would love to be able to actually eat something and not have to vomit. Im looking to see if anyone else experienced this and is there light at then end of this tunnel soon?

3 wks post- food getting stuck
Starfish23 replied to Starfish23's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Went to gastro today. I have a stricture. He feels I only have what amounts to a little larger than a pinhole to process liquid. Obviously no food for me. Back on clear liquids. Going Monday for the first of a series of endoscopies to insert a balloon to make an opening. My doctors didn’t listen to me for the last 2 weeks and we’re brushing it off as “sometimes this happens”. “Probably just a little swollen”. “ you have acid”. Until last night I called them that I as going to the ER. A different doctor called me that was on call and thank God for her because she told me to get to the hospital immediately and she would contact the Gastro and she got the ball rolling. Obviously the other Doctor Who I was seeing wasn’t taking me seriously. -

Did anyone ever get stoma stretched?
Starfish23 replied to Starfish23's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Good luck mhysteik! -
Hey all. 3 weeks out post bypass. I had the sleeve 3 years ago and developed GERD. Dr suggested converting to bypass. Would immediately go away. Woohoo. NOT !!! I can’t keep anything down except liquids and baby food. Not even cottage cheese. I can’t even keep my Protonix in. It feels like if I have anything with a little substance it gets stuck. After that there is no drinking or anything. Then I get the foamies and slime, throw up everything and then I’m ok. It’s a ritual now. I went to the doctors and he said the opening is about the size of a dime and that’s how it’s supposed to be. For real? If I can’t fit a pill down my throat how my ever going to get food down there? I definitely do not meet any requirements for water and protein. That’s for sure. I saw somewhere on this site about somebody having their opening stretched through an endoscopy. I didn’t pay much attention to it then but I wish I did. Has anyone had that done? I have full on regrets about having this conversion from sleeve to bypass done. Has engine leaks experienced this and does the stuck feeling go away?

Did anyone ever get stoma stretched?
Starfish23 replied to Starfish23's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
RichM. The doctor told me that they leave an opening approximate size of a dime so any swelling on top of that would close the whole pretty much and that’s what’s happening to me. Was in the ER last night with dehydration they let me out this morning. My doctor told me to go to the Gastro doctor and he will have to stretch the stoma by inserting a balloon through an endoscopy. As of right now I feel like it’s about 90% close because even water doesn’t get through. It will sit there until I throw it up -

3 wks post- food getting stuck
Starfish23 replied to Starfish23's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Not a stricture. Went to dr. He says they typically don’t see that until 6 weeks out so chanced my antacid to protonix and still get that stuck and foaming feeling. He says bcus the opening is only about the size of a dime. I can’t get a pill down. How will anything else ever go down. I’m in tears and feel so defeated. I have such huge regrets. -
I could not deal with protein shakes or drinks either. I use Carnation instant breakfast. 13 grams per cup with milk. Works for me

Drinking protein "shots"?
Starfish23 replied to coyote's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Gene pro is awful. I just returned it. I’m looking for a protein water that actually tastes good... anyone? It’s my only source of protein since I can’t eat without it getting stuck and throwing it up. And that’s purée. . If I get 3 or 4 teaspoons of something down all day I’m happy Water won’t go through easily bcus of what’s stuck. Then that comes up too. Anyone else have that? -
