Yes, Tylenol with codeine is generally prescribed. I took it for 3 days post op and that was all I needed.

All of this!! I agree and I am a revision of sleeve to bypass. had the GERD, hunger was there, I could eat full plates of food, lost the hair with the sleeve had the bypass and my recovery was easier, I can still tolerate sweets (the sugar free ones I have tried), never hungry (for now lol) and I have already lost more weight my revision of bypass than I ever did with my sleeve. discuss your concerns with your doctor and get feedback from him/her. Not every surgery is cookie cutter. The sleeve was part 1 of the 2 part bypass years ago and many have found the sleeve to be successful enough. The bypass is a safe surgery. again, this is MY personal opinion/feelings. You gotta do what’s best for you. Good luck in whatever you choose

Did your marriage or relationship die after you lost the weight?
Bryn910 replied to George OG's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You look like a normal man to me. i am sorry you’re going through this but if someone isn’t making you happy and can’t support you then it’s time to try and fix it or leave. Continue with your success and again, you look great -
Gastric sleeve surgery AGAIN
Bryn910 replied to FebJune's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yea, I would talk to your surgeon about a revision to a different surgery -
Surgery went as smoothly as possible. Absolutely no complications and only spent 1 night in hospital. Recovery is hard and I was tired but that’s only temporary

If you have a lot of weight to lose and/or have GERD/heartburn many docs will suggest the bypass. I completely wish I would have had the bypass years ago when I had my sleeve. My sleeve caused me outrageous heartburn and I felt no restriction after a while. And by a while, I mean months after. I felt afraid to eat and I was so hungry. But the sleeve has been great for most people whom have it. I just can’t fathom how some people whom have the sleeve are only able to eat 6 ounces or less when I was eating full plates of protein and feeling like I was before the sleeve. Again, I am not down playing the sleeve, it just wasn’t for me

To the original poster, I just posted in your other thread, sorry lol

My revision from VSG to RNY was in May of this year so far so good. I can pretty much tolerate whatever I am eating (I am eating turkey, chicken, veggies and other soft proteins, no slider foods). I was hoping I would have the dumping but I don’t so far. But then again I haven’t had anything truly sweet etc. which is good lol i feel full with some foods but I think because I keep my food/meals to 3 ounces or less. I am afraid to try and eat more. I get extremely full with salads though and they cause me to burp a lot. It’s probably the lettuce but yea, no complications so far

lol I wish I could sock em, but I am more of a give you a piece of my mind type of gal. I can’t go getting arrested now 😂

I did this for my sleeve surgery. I had to do it for 4 weeks 2x/week. They monitored my cardio output, blood pressure and weight during these weeks. They want to make sure you can endure surgery

I would try and see if your team could recommend another therapist that was closer to you and covered via insurance (if that’s your route). It all varies. For my sleeve surgery I just went to a licensed counselor/social worker & for my revision I had to see a psychotherapist whom literally followed a list of questions from the bariatric team. I thought the social worker wa better than the therapist lol. the only way I would go see someone 2 hours away is if the team said it was deal or no deal and it were the only way I would get approved.

How often have you gotten sick?

Good for you for dropping her as a friend. I wish someone in my real life would tell me I am taking the easy way out.

My plan also says no coffee for those reasons but also because they say a lot of people go back to adding the sugary/heavy carb items back into their coffee. One nutritionist I met even called it a “gateway drug”...it could lead to bad choices like carbonated drinks, sugary teas, juices etc. so I am staying clear! lol I am sure having it every once in a while when you’re far out from surgery. But then again I see people whom are directly post op and drinking it and do fine. I would just rather not

I do their egg bites and their cheese/fruit box. I am not allowed fruit now but my husband or a coworker eats it. I cant do their drinks any longer. All of the conditions I have tried are incredibly weird tasting to me. My friend works for Starbucks so he has literally made me every drink possible lol

Actual time off work
Bryn910 replied to KennyJenks's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I had my sleeve I took off 6 weeks. I felt like I needed it, recovery was harsh for some reason when I had my revision to RNY, I took off for 3 weeks. Recovery was much easier. I work in healthcare and up on my feet handling patients for 8+ hours a day and I did go back with an aide for some help at work until I was 6 weeks post op -
Totally normal! You’re body is healing. Take this as a sign to rest, rest and rest! I was like this for at least 3 weeks. Take a nap
-
The low back pain could be because of weak abdominals and your back compensating to support you. This happened to me and went away rather quickly. Just gotta keep moving.
-
I had 4 abdominal surgeries before my rny. I had scar tissue but he said it just took a little more time but no problems.

How have your smells and tastes changed?
Bryn910 replied to CyclicalLoser's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am a little over 2 months post op and a bit of everything triggers me in terms of smell/nausea. I can eat chicken and cook it but some days I wan to vomit when I smell it. Seeing bread bun or burger buns make me feel gross. The smell of chipotle is just sickening; when pre-op I would have it twice a week. And it could vary from day to day -
If you’re not taking pain meds it should be ok. Not long distance at first cause you do want to make sure you’re still moving around
