    Chest X-Ray?

Because it can show a variety of things on the X-ray from an enlarged heart, fluid around the lungs or any heart/lung disease. Just routine for most surgeries
  2. I am currently on my 2 week all liquid diet pre-op and then I will have another 3 weeks of all liquids post-op

    May surgery

I am on day 2 of my liquid diet. Not too bad but I find that I am not liking Broth as much as I did with my sleeve lol. Still going to have some spoonfuls because I like the warm taste. I purchased some Unjury Broth but wanted to save that for post-op but I may have to crack her open i just find that I have to keep myself busy to not think about food which is helping. Premier protein rtd’s keep me full as well which is good
  4. I truly can’t pin point one thing, but growing up as a child, it was any & everything for me: sweets (ice cream/cake), carbs (bread/potatoes) & soda (the infamous Mountain Dew & root beer) my weight gain began as a very young child, my family didn’t have a lot, but we always had food. And cheap food was/is the worst food. Our Friday’s/Saturday’s were always for eating out for dinner & looked forward to my happy meal’s. I don’t blame my parents really because they did what they had to do. I blame myself as a young adult because I could have changed my mindset

    Tea Drinkers

So I happened to be in the mall today and passed David’s Tea! I tasted the frozen raspberry and loved it! Also got the Me to We which they described as a starburst candy flavor. Excited to drink these cold and have something other than water. I believe they are both low on caffeine as well which i like. thanks for the suggestion!

    Tea Drinkers

Thanks for posting this. I can’t wait to try these tea’s as I dislike most boxed/big store teas

    13 weeks postop

    Congrats!
  10. I have had 4 abdominal surgeries, 1 open & 3 laparoscopic. My surgeon told me I may have adhesions/scar tissue but he won’t know until he gets in there. he states that most of the time, surgeons can still perform it laparoscopically, it just takes more time and a little maneuvering on their part.
  11. I purchased goal clothes recently. Just a size smaller jacket that I should be able to fit into during the fall and a nice summer romper that is a size smaller as well.
  12. I have chosen the bypass BUT I now currently have the sleeve. I am getting a revision. i originally wanted the bypass 7 years ago but my then doctor convinced me to get the sleeve. I knew along I wanted to restriction and malabsorption but I didn’t fight for it. So go with your gut...maybe the pun is intended lol
  13. I think you will be ok. It’s a life altering surgery so naturally eating will be life altering but it’s all about trial and error. Dont stress too much about it because stress can alter a lot of things, including how we eat and what things taste like.
  14. Yes I am starting an Instagram account. Still nervous though but excited as well
  15. I am curious as to what do you eat now if you’re such a picky eater?

    Tattoo before surgery?

No open wounds for surgery. They could cancel it i wouldn’t risk it

    LEAVE OF ABSENCE FMLA

I am doing fmla just because I will be out for more than 3 weeksand in car any complications arise. i have STD that I pay into but won’t be needing it. Have been working quite a bit of overtime since November. so I am using all of sick time (which isn’t many hours) and then taking the rest do the time without pay. My job allows you to allocate your sick/PTO anyway you want to. I am lucky
  18. I am in the same boat with you.

    Guilt in wanting VSG

Maybe it will help her to understand the difference between losing weight with bariatric surgery versus without a tool if you have her go with you to one of your appointments with the surgeon or even the nutritionist. So that she doesn’t get discouraged when you both begin your journey together. and maybe plan exercises to do together and goal gifts, such as when you both hit a goal, you get your nails done, but a new pair piece of clothing or see a movie etc. and make sure that you will both wait until the other hits their goal as well so you experience it together. Don’t feel guilty, you’re doing the best for you and your family.

    That would be fun
  21. Yes and no. I came out of surgery in pain. After about 3 days I felt hungry but the protein drinks kept me satisfied. When it was time to eat soft foods...I was so scared lol. It took me about 3 hours to eat 1/4 cup of yogurt

    Time off from work

Working in a hospital, anything goes as I know you can imagine and all the work (in my opinion) can be physically exhausting. I practice physical therapy but work in a skilled nursing facility. I want to take 3.5 weeks off but I know because of my job, the doc is going to want me to take more. I filed FMLA papers but also had my HR director give me a return to work early paper that my doc can sign if I am out for more than 4 weeks but can return at any time with docs orders.

    Coffee

Mu program docs/dietitians don’t recommend any coffee if it isn’t black. And they’re strict on it. They basically don’t want us drinking the calories I know... it that’s gotta be so hard for some. i like all the sugary flavored coffee drinks but I don’t crave them or have hem often. Haven’t had one in a while actually
