  1. Sure and thanks. yes I had 4 abdominal surgeries before my revision and my surgeon did say there was some scar tissue but it only took him about 20 minutes longer than normal to perform the surgery. Not sure how common blockages are post op etc.

    Can you drink pop?

Personally, I only drink water and crystal light. My team advises against soda, coffee and any other drink that has an excess of carbs, sugar and carbonation. For me, soda is like a gateway drug lol. If I drink that then I will eat the tons of chocolate and carbs. Do I miss it, sure! But I just drink a crystal light and the feeling goes away

    Can you drink pop?

Sure. You can drink and eat anything you want. Shoukd you drink anything and everything you want, no. consult with your nutritionist and doctor and see what they say
  4. My wieght loss has been much faster with the revision although I was told it may be slower.

    Weight loss HALT

You’re introducing foods back into your diet; your body is adjusting. The weight will come off and there will always be stalls. Just give it time
  6. I had my sleeve to bypass revision in May of this year, 7 years after my sleeve. Wish I had it done sooner! i have not experienced any complications. The worst side effect is that different food (their smells) can cause minor nausea. And that lasts only a few minutes lol.
  7. It will be fine. Don’t sweat the small stuff because honestly, skin can be removed, hair grows back and food will always be there. The food is just a choice; a choice you have to make. No one isn’t saying you can’t ever eat your fave food again. You just can’t have them fried, or can’t have them 4x/week; you can’t indulge in a pint of ice cream etc. Heck, you may no longer crave your fave foods! And that’s a good thing. The journey is different for everyone. Substitute your food addiction with clothes shopping; that’s what I did 😂😂 good luck on on your journey and keep us updated
  8. This is my opinion only, but he’s right. This is your journey, not his. If you guys both go through a drive through, you can place your order when he is done with his. It’s that simple. Is he being an a**hole about it, sure. Because it’s quite simple to say “no bun please”, he just doesn’t want to. It could be that he is envious of you. Or maybe he is mad. Whatever emotion it is, it’s his problem. If he isn’t the type to talk about it or change after you’ve expressed how you feel, then you have to accept it. I realized after my surgery that I CANNOT expect anyone else to cater to my diet needs. If my coworkers have a potluck and bring nothing but food I can’t eat, guess what, I am not eating that food and being my own lunch. I can choose not to participate and bring no dish, or I can bring a dish I can eat as well as others. Ironically, I bring a dish I can’t eat because I still like seeing people happy by eating my food lol. this journey is yours and yours alone. I hope you find peace with your decision as well as your husbands.

    Water and hunger

I have that every once in a while and then I realized I was truly hungry because I haven’t eaten in a while. It’s uaually when I am busy and don’t have access to food ASAP. I am never without water though so I consistently drink water. Maybe try to have a bite of something, protein related when you get those feelings and see if it gets better
  10. Liquid goes in, sometimes liquid comes out

    Gastric bypass

I haven’t ever dumped with my rny but your body will let you know when too much is too much. I can handle sugar/carbs just fine but know when to stop and try to stay within my parameters. But I never experienced what others claim as dumping: the curled up on the floor In fetal position, sweating, stomach rumbles/pain etc.

Why am I losing weight so slowly

Why haven’t you been eating veggies? Is it because your team doesn’t recommend them or you just aren’t eating them? Veggies have some amount of fiber that can help with weight loss. Fruit has natural sugars but too much can be over load for weight loss. Also check your salad dressings...if you aren’t eating veggies, what are you using the dressing for? Maybe marinades? If so, try rubs with little salt; make your own rubs or try a different way of making your own dressing. It could be how many calories you’re consuming as well...could be too many or too little. And what are you drinking and how much? Try increasing water intake and cut out things like coffee drinks and/or juice if you’re having it

    How old were you when?

I was 25 for my sleeeve & 32 for my revision to bypass. Wish I had the revision earlier but was embarrassed and lost.
  14. Where was the CT scan done on your body? Was it your abdomen, chest or pelvis? I only ask because maybe it’s a gynecological issue and they didn’t catch anything that high up? I know what you’re going through, I had the same thing but the pain magically went away. my doc said it could have been a gallbladder attack, but no need for the gallbladder to come out. If I were you, I would ask for a pelvic CT scan and/or ultrasound to make sure it isn’t gynecology related. When I had cysts, I could the feel the pain into my chest, back, thighs and abdomen...and I legit looked 6 months pregnant from swelling
  15. I wear a pineapple hairstyle, headbands or part my hair differently. I also keep my hair frizzy/curly to try and conceal it

    Bingeing with Bypass

I am sorry you’re going through this. I too have gotten angry about not being able to eat the whole way through a movie, or eat while others are eating or not being able to finish my meals at a restaurant. lucky me, I tried to binge & got sick. I just feel gross afterwards if I try to eat more. That or I pay for it in the bathroom. I try to divide all my food up first if I am out. Or if I am somewhere where there is lots of food to choose from, like family gatherings or potlucks, I legit take my time and decide what is best for me to try. If it’s something I have tasted before, I won’t even try it, and I probably get a half a tablespoon of everything else I want to try. It’s hard, hang in there
  17. I am just going to be blunt here, but you come first in this scenario; Insurance aside. If I were you, I would get it down before my kid because well, I am 55 and want to live another 50 years FOR my kids. Your daughter will have opportunities; whether the surgery is next year, after she graduates or when she finds a job that covers or she pays for it herself. if I were your daughter, I would want my mother to have the surgery first because well...you’re my mom & I want to see you happy and healthy. Its ok the be selfish. Your kids are grown and it’s your time for yourself. Eventually your daughter will have the surgery if she still wants it. I doubt she’ll be waiting years upon years to get it. You seem like a loving & great mom. Continue with your journey and discuss your concerns with your daughter and you both can come up with a plan together. much luck on your journey

    Isopure zero carb

Vitamin Shoppe sells them individually as well
  19. I have been open and honest with anyone whom has asked me about my weight loss. EVERYTHING has been positive. Not sure if it’s because I work in healthcare but I have gotten nothing but support and love. People are generally curious and it hasn’t left my body open to discussion. If it has, it’s been behind my back and never to my face but if people have a question, they ask and it has never been odd or unwelcomed. I feel the biggest reason people “hide” their weight loss is for fear of failure and unwanted expectations. You tell people you had a life altering surgery and they expect you to lose weight; & if it isn’t successful for you, then you may fear the daunting questions of “what happens?” That’s my opinion. i his my VSG surgery but I did not hide my rny. Although I didn’t tell anyone it was a revision because I truly lost no weight in the end from my VSG. But you have to do what you feel is right for you.

    Watermelon

Every plan is different according to surgeon/team. For example, I am not allowed fruit until 15 weeks post op. I have seen some are allowed it right away and some wait 6 months etc. I would consult with your team.
  21. Wow. An intervention seems so dramatic & drastic in my opinion. I am happy with how well you’ve handled it & everything you typed is correct & inspiring. I can understand family/friends being scared and not fully understand these surgeries but I always wonder if they’d rather see a loved one suffer and be unhealthy and not happy as a fat person or try saving their life on the operating room table. That’s just my opinion. Thanks for sharing your story

    I got cocky

Two eggs seem like one too many. When I first began eating eggs, I barely ate half of one scrambled egg. I can eat a whole one now at 3 mo he out but nothing else with it
  23. From day 1. It matters how many carbs are in my shakes, the sugar that was in my liquid Tylenol etc. and I still count them. I count carbs, protein and fat.
  24. I have tried low carb wraps. I cut them into fourths and use them around turkey dogs or a mini pizza. But I am 3 months post op and have only used them maybe 3 times. Now I have used wonton wrappers for wonton cups. I can only eat 1 at a time of that and don’t eat them back to back. But no sliced bread...haven’t had a need for it.
