I think you’re doing the right thing! This is the perfect time to get your health in order. It is a scary journey but an exciting one! i think age is now on your side for your approval so I wouldn’t worry about that. Good luck to you

Surgery Scheduled! Revision Sleeve to Bypass
Bryn910 replied to shoregirl75's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Congrats! I am 6 days post op from sleeve to bypass so I don’t have enough experience yet but my recovery is easier than the sleeve thus far. i too was a bit pressured into the sleeve vs. bypass 7 years ago. I never even heard of it back then. Only the band and bypass; I wanted the bypass for the restriction & malabsorption. i didn’t lost about 40 pounds with my sleeve and gained it all back. I also had no restriction after about a year. GERD also developed welcome to the revision crew! -
When did you join a gym?
Bryn910 replied to Apple203's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have already had a gym membership for years prior to my surgery if people do not like the atmosphere of gyms...I recommend Fitness Blender on YouTube for at home exercises. I used them for a while and gained so much strength and lost weight. I only purchased interchangeable dumbbells and they show you how to modify the exercises. i absolutely despise gym trainers. Make sure you check their credentials before signing up with them. Most get their training via online 6 week courses. I would rather spend money on a certified sport conditioning specialist -
I need support: Struggling with control before my pre-op
Bryn910 replied to deardraya's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you’re feeling like temptation is there, just step back, breathe and tell yourself this is all for a reason. This is for your surgery to make sure your surgeon has the best tool he can work with, you’re his tool. And in return he will give you a tool so you can love your life in the healthiest way possible. Dont worry, we have all been there and it’s hard. But you can do it! -
Yay! Can’t wait to hear about your updates. I just know it’ll go well

Hi! I am doing well, starting to feel like my old self. Just really tired, not sleepy, but just fatigued. Like yesterday I did some minor cleaning and I felt exhausted lol. I am think doctors prefer sleeve because of less complications? I am not sure. But yea, so far I am happy with my revision. I will know the real deal once I start eating food again

Congrats! That’s one day before my birthday

Congrats! May you continue to have a smooth recovery

I am just speaking for me but I had the sleeve 7 years ago because my surgeon convinced me to get it although I wanted the bypass so I obliged. 6 days ago I had a revision from sleeve to bypass. I developed really bad GERD & experienced regain. And weird enough I had lost mos of my restriction. I could eat a lot of protein and never feel my restriction. My GERD was so bad that I was burping just from taking a sip of water when I first woke up I originally wanted the bypass because it gave me restriction and malabsorption; and I have over 100 lbs to lose. Now I have seen people lose over 100+lbs with the sleeve but it just wasn’t for me. Just discuss your wants/desires with weight loss/health with your doctor and let them help you make a decision. I wish you luck!

Revision LSG to Gastric Bypass
Bryn910 replied to Cindyjo's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I just had my revision from sleeve to bypass 5 days ago. My recovery thisngo round was excellent compared to my sleeve. Granted I am new to this so I don’t have much to offer right now in terms of info. -
It’s normal to be nervous! Much luck to you tomorrow!

I think it will be good for you to speak to a professional and I hope that your surgical team will give you information that you can use besides the typical diet options. but you pretty much answered your own question, you have been obese majority of your life and you have kids whom need their mother. That would be enough for me. no one is every fully ready for a lifelong change. The same thing when people say “oh, you’re never ready for kids.” Your nerves are just talking and that’s ok. You have got this! The journey will be well worth it I am sure. And remember, there’s all of us on this forum with tons of info

I just had my revision from sleeve to RNY yesterday. Surgeon said all went well and I am home. Have no problem with fluids but now just started drinking protein which is ok. I am keeping a log of everything I drink. I am having a lot of back pain. But I know how hard the operating table is and hospital beds suck. And it’s so hard for me to get comfortable here at home. I am In a big arm chair with an ottoman and a heating pad on my back but nothing is helping really. I already know I won’t be able to sleep in my bed so the chair it’ll be. I have Tylenol with code in which is taking the edge off. I am also peeing sooooo much which is annoying but it helps with me walking more I guess lol

Ummmmm.....is this normal?
Bryn910 replied to Emersyn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My nutritionist stated that a sugar free popsicle is considered 2 ounces (they’re more like 1.5) so maybe have more of those if you’re having trouble getting in fluid? If I have 2 a day I am able to surpass 64 ounces of fluid. I just do popsicles, water and protein drinks. I tried jello but wasn’t feeling it and I really can’t fathom broth (too hot for me) -
They will tell your bro in law to keep the bag until you are in your own room. So only take your ID, insurance card and any form of payment if you have a copay with you when you register. after you register, your bro in law will hold onto these things. He can actually keep your bag in the car until they notify him of your room number and from there he can bring it to you. The clothes you will take off (that you’re wearing) will either go off to your bro in law if he comes back to the set up room with you or they will take and put In operating room and then put it on your bed (after they transfer you from operating room table to bed). they will want your bro In law to take your things so they don’t get lost in translation and they aren’t responsible. The only thing I brought back with me was my cpap that followed with me to my room and through recovery. It was labeled

Thinking of Revision Surgery
Bryn910 replied to newlifesils's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
If you mean a sleeve to RNY, I am post op of this exact revision. the surgery went well but I am still on liquids and haven’t hopped on the scale so I can’t really say how it is now. But I got the revision due to not losing weight, no restriction and GERD -
Belly binder post-op????
Bryn910 replied to cammarays's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was not recommended one but I can see how it helps ease pain/soreness in that if you have a larger abdomen it helps with all the jiggling around that increases soreness/pain. -
Surgery is tomorrow!

It is very exciting! Good luck to you -
Surgery is tomorrow !!!

Much luck! -
I had to pre-pay for my surgeons fee that I paid beforehand which was about $600 but anything else was the copay that I paid at the hospital. I would call your insurance company and verify the payments again and if they need an answer of nights, give them 2 and they should reimburse you or if you’re in there longer they can bill you. I can’t see this would be a huge issue though. If so, have your program coordinator call
