  1. I think positioning helps to control pain in the abdomen. But people’s pain levels vary based on what they can tolerate. I stopped pain meds after 3 days post op. i also had back pain which a heating pad helped slightly. Lots of people sleep in a lazy boy or the couch because of their pain. After a while pain becomes soreness

    Sharp pain on left side

If the incision has formed a scar, I would run around the incision to break up the scar tissue a bit. It may hurt initially but should get better over time
  3. I would say you’re r doing just fine. Our body adjusts to extreme weight loss (13lbs. In a week). I wouldn’t be concerned
  4. I had my sleeve while I was in college and it was my last year but I was only taking a few classes. I had it during spring break and was able to go to class. I spoke to my professors beforehand and they were lenient about me getting to class a tad bit late but I was never late. I carried a backpack and was fine but I tried to carry as little as possible

    Sharp pain on left side

I do as well but it’s from my largest incision site & I believe I have formed some scar tissue there.
  6. After two weeks the injections were a piece of cake lol. I am on my last dose today. It’ll be nice to take 1 thing out of my routine
  7. I am old fashioned and keep a small journal and document everything I consume all day; I tally ounces of liquid and jot down how much protein I consume. I think the further out you are, it’ll get better. Hang in there!

    Side sleeper?

I am a left side sleeper & belly sleeper; I am unable to sleep in either positing. I can only lay on my right side for about 2 hours. I have resorted to sleeping on my couch which gives me support at my back while laying on my right side and I sleep more comfortably on my back on the couch versus the bed. Sometimes I will start sleeping in my bed and then transition to couch in middle of the night

    Working out and liquid diet

My doc said as long as you feel fine doing it. I just did a recumbent bike, light arm/leg weights (2.5 lbs.) & increased my walking i wish I would have done some abdominal/back exercises to help strengthen and decrease pain after surgery

    Sneezing post-op

I sneezed for the first time yesterday but no pain.

    Milk of Magnesia

Milk of magnesia is rather gentle. you will feel the need to go but it isn’t an urgency from my experience. You should be fine to take it and work its better than the magnesium citrate. With that stuff you’ll be on the toilet non-stop

    Gastric Bypass vs VSG

Did he say why he prefers the bypass versus VSG? the RNY has restriction and malabsorption where as the sleeve is just restriction. Were you diagnosed with GERD? If so, VSG isn’t the go to surgery for those with GERD as it may exacerbate the issue. Some doctors also feel that if a patient has 100+ lbs. to lose then rny is preferred

    Freaking Exhausted

Yea same reason why I had WLS as well, to help improve my chances. Glad to know you like the nuva ring, so I may try it. Wishing you all the luck on the baby train for 2019!!!

    Freaking Exhausted

I don’t blame you, that $87k price tag is insane. But I fear that my gynecologist will want me on another form of birth control for the exact same reason of malabsorption. This scares me because frankly I haven’t used any other form in the 12 years I have used it. Nuva ring would be my only option as I am not a fan of anything else. And I have pcos and the pills help with the cysts. But we shall see

    Freaking Exhausted

Wow! My husband would be ticked cause my lady parts would be closed for 12 months for fear of even the smallest accident happening 😂😂
  22. No, I don’t think they are sweet. Could be the different flavor but the raspberry is bland
  23. I had it when I was pre op and post op. You may also develop thrush. Your doc may or may not prescribe a medication called nystatin. It’s to prevent infection in your mouth as well as esophagus/stomach when you swallow it. i needed it post op because I have thrush and I use it like a mouthwash. Pre op, a few days before surgery they’ll have you swish and swallow it. You may want to ask your doc if you can have some now to use like a mouthwash
