    3 month stall?

I am! Trying to remember that that is a key. I actually just put on a dress this morning that I might have to retire, or at least belt! Haha!

    3 month stall?

Thanks to you both--I'll keep riding it out
  3. Is that a thing? I had my 3 month appointment a couple weeks ago and the scale. won't. budge. I'm losing and gaining the same 5 lbs over and over. Working on upping calories, making sure I get my protein and water, and upping my exercise. Anyone have any other tips?

    Slow losers

The only weigh-ins that "count" for me are the ones at my surgeon's office. I weigh myself fairly frequently at home, but I don't record those anywhere. I just use them for mental checks, especially when I've changed stages in the diet to see if I'm still on track, or if I've hit a stall to see when it breaks.

    Sports Bras

The Enell bras give a whole new meaning to 'Locked and loaded'---they are well worth the money. I can run and my 44H girls didn't budge! I actually couldn't fit in mine for a bit prior to surgery and missed it. I'm glad to be able to wear it again :-)
  6. Glad to have come across this post! My HW in April, 2017 was 337. I had my VSG exactly a year later to the day due to insurance issues (mine didn't cover surgery, so we had to wait for my husband's open enrollment period, etc.) SW was 276 and I'm currently around 248-250, depending on whether I want to trust my scale or not----6 weeks post-op. I'm sticking with dresses and leggings, at least through the summer. I have no pants that fit, and I don't want to buy much until I'm closer to goal. I have a couple pairs of jeans that I'm bagging around in on the weekends. I had held on to my "skinny clothes" from a previous weight loss and those have helped me, but I agree with others that the midsection is the hardest. I've been surprised at how my legs have firmed up so quickly. Now to get the rest to catch up! I turn 50 in a few months. Thanks for starting this thread!

Rash all over my upper body !

You could also be having a reaction to meds or something else related to surgery. Get checked out---I had a similar issue for a different surgery and ended up covered in hives and on prednisone for 2 weeks. Turns out I was allergic to the antibiotics and painkillers they had given me.
  8. I did some quick calculating and, based on my scale, I've lost a little over 4 lbs a week since my sleeve surgery in April. I'm very happy with that, but since I haven't had my 6-week follow up yet with my surgeon, I'm just curious if I'm still on target or slowing down a bit already? I have had at least one stall already, but I know that's to be expected. What's your experience?

    Phase 2 post op

I didn't really have a clear liquids phase post-op, but I know I was sick of not having any texture or anything. I went from full liquids to purees. I remember my surgeon telling me that when I went to purees I could have applesauce and it would "be the best applesauce you've ever had." He wasn't kidding---so nice to have something other than liquid! At full liquids, you should be doing protein shakes, greek yogurt, maybe some thinned cream soups. You'll like having more savory options---I was so sick of always tasting sweet, which was weird because I have such a sweet tooth! Good luck!
  10. I haven't had much trouble with it either. Talked with my Nut and she just advised to take at least 20 minutes for a meal and to make sure I'm getting my protein and water goals. I look at it as a blessing. I feel fortunate that I'm not having the struggles that others on the board have had.

    Protein and Carbs...Help!

I make instant sugar free pudding with Fairlife milk and protein powder added in. It adds a lot of protein for not so many carbs. I agree with the others who suggest to lay off the oatmeal, especially twice a day.
  12. I made cream of potato soup that tasted like heaven after all of the sweet shakes and stuff. I also ate cottage cheese and yogurt. I was only on purees for a week and moved to soft, where I've been for a while.

    Highest weight

I'm just shy of 5'9" and had once gotten myself down to 205 and was thrilled with that. I weighed about 180 in high school, so I'm shooting for somewhere in between. If I could get down to 180 and stay there, that would be great, but if that isn't in the cards I'd be ok with a few more pounds.

    Same weight as pre-op

I could have written your post word for word. I had very little pain and was able to sleep on my side after a night or two. Remember to take your time with eating---it's harder to be slow with liquids sometimes---and pay attention to what your body is doing and saying to you. My VSG was 4/12 and I'm down about 25 lbs and feeling great. It will happen! Best of luck to you!

    Initial meeting with nutritionist?

Mine talked with me a lot about what my food challenges were at the time (sweets, fast food, pop, etc.). She asked lots of questions about what I eat in terms of portions and things like that. We went over a lot of information about what will be expected post-surgery, then worked on a plan to help me get ready for that. We set food goals each time---more about weaning me off of the bad stuff and starting to develop good habits. I journaled my food intake daily, and she would review that at each appointment, then we'd set goals. During that time before surgery, I broke my habits of pop drinking, increased my water, almost completely eliminated fried foods, and drastically reduced the amount of sweets I ate. It really set me up for success!
