Tespo Vitamin Dispenser
Ylime replied to amyandgreg1234's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't tried it but a lot of people in a facebook group swear by it. It's an expensive way to get your vitamins but there is certainly a convenience factor. I'm thinking about it but I think I'll go the chewable vitamin route first. -
How would you have reacted?
Ylime replied to EsoKev's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just posted about this in another thread as I overheard someone say that to another woman. I thought it was incredibly rude. That statements means the person is making an assumption about your weight without knowing your health history or personal reasons for having the surgery. That said, I think it's an ignorant comment (especially by a medical professional), but in my opinion ignorant comments don't deserve a reaction. Complete silence and shake of the head is enough for me to realize it isn't personal and I'm just glad I'm more informed than that. -
Bariatric haul! What have you bought for your journey or plan to buy?
Ylime replied to Yo-yo girl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First, I love this thread. SO many great ideas. I haven't purchased anything yet, but my Amazon cart is filling up like crazy. My dietitian gave me samples of the Bariatric Advantage Multi-Vitamin and Calcium chews. They were both yummy so I'll be buying those for sure. I love water, but have heard others say after surgery there is only so much plain water they can drink before getting sick of it. So I'll be buying some sugar free flavorings and I've also found several flavors of PowerAde Zero that I love. Second and most importantly, I've collected several binders from my surgeon and some prospective surgeons. I'm attaching it here for any one interested. _Gastric Sleeve Binder.pdf Gastric Bypass Binder.pdf Gastric Sleeve Handbook 2.pdf -

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies Check In Here!
Ylime replied to Ylime's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was recently in one of my nutrition classes and there were two ladies behind me that struck up a conversation. One said to the other, "You don't even look like you belong here." I think she meant it as a compliment but I thought it was incredibly rude. Everyone carries their weight differently, everyone is here for a different/personal reason, and I would never presume to know what personal decision led them to the decision to have WLS. Much better to be honest now to get the help you need instead of having to do that after the surgery when you're trying to make a drastic lifestyle change. I know how frustrating it can be to have a bump in the road but I think you'll be happier in the long run! Yes, I love the size of this group. We'll have so much support here! -
Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies Check In Here!
Ylime replied to Ylime's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was trying to catch up but there are SO many scheduled surgery dates I lost count. But it's awesome so congrats to all! Anyone opposed to me creating a list of all the surgery dates so we can match people up in the same time period?? I'm thinking I could post it on the very first post of the thread so it's easily found and wouldn't get lost in all the posts. -

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies Check In Here!
Ylime replied to Ylime's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Whew - I've have a busy few weeks and haven't been able to pop in here. Welcome to all the new members!! I've now completed my counseling and dietitian meetings and my first two classes. One more class to go in June before I can start talking dates with my surgeon. But I'm still targeting August. My dietitian wants me to start a high protein diet now to get used to how I'll eat after surgery. So I'm mulling that over. I know I should do it, it's just finding the motivation to get started. -
Ever since I decided to have WLS I've been trying to answer this question. Because I knew that until I identified the issue I wouldn't be able to fix it. I have a lot of things I feel like I'm addicted to but I kept coming back to sweets. I have observed in my house that when we have sweets around, they call to me but no one else. My kids will have a brownie when I make them and then totally forget about them. However, I'll sneak a bite while I'm doing the dishes, or come down after they're asleep to eat one, or have one for breakfast before they come down the stairs. So clearly I have a problem. But it didn't really click until I was watching an episode of My 600lb Life the other night. In the episode this woman was showing all the places in her bedroom where she hid candy and chocolate. And all of a sudden this memory came flooding back to me... I was in Jr High, so probably 12 at the time. With any money I had from chores I would go to the store on my way home from school and buy kool-aid packets. When my parents weren't home and my brother wasn't around, I would mix one kool-aid packet with a cup of sugar in a ziploc baggie and hide it in my room, on a shelf behind my dolls. I would cut one of the corners off the baggie and just eat the flavored sugar. Like a pixie stick but in a major quantity. I can now remember that at one point I had four flavors in my room...that's four cups of sugar I was eating probably over the course of one week. I don't think my parents ever knew. I didn't see it as anything other than a fun secret because I was super skinny as a kid. It didn't matter what I ate, I never gained weight. But now I can see this is where my problems started, even if it took another 10 years for the weight to start pilling on. I don't even know yet what to do with this realization but confessing this is definitely a start. So, what have you all been truly addicted to?

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies Check In Here!
Ylime replied to Ylime's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I think it is hard for some people to realize that the natural route doesn't always work no matter how hard you try. I turned myself into an athlete and pushed myself to complete obstacle course races and lift heavy things. I ate clean the whole time I was doing it. Yet, here I am because even that didn't result in weigh loss. I'm not overweight because of laziness or lack of knowledge, my body just works against me! -

Ylime replied to Ylime's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It went well, it was short and sweet. She asked me about the support I have around me, what habits I plan on changing to be successful and things like that. It felt like it was more for her benefit than mine, but I suppose that is what an evaluation is. I'm more excited for my dietitian appointment as I think that will be very informative. -

Ylime replied to Ylime's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I told one of my girlfriends last night. She's the only one I plan on telling as I knew she would be supportive. We had a long discussion about it and she confided in me that she's been thinking about it too but hasn't been able to find the time to really research it. So I think the conversation was good and my experience may help her move forward. It was freeing to be able to talk to someone about it, but she's the closest friend I have and I don't plan on talking to anyone else besides my husband like that. -

What are you addicted to...like really, truly, mess with your brain addicted?

I actually look forward to this. I think it could help reset my brain to the healthy foods I actually should be eating. -

That is awesome. There is some pizza my family likes and I think the crust is just soggy and gross the next day. I think I do miss the toppings more than the crust sometimes. Maybe a turkey pepperoni omelette would work. -

Most embarrassing diet/exercise product you've ever bought?
Ylime replied to Creekimp13's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Ok, I just came across this on my library website and thought it fit perfectly with this discussion. Because...seriously?! Excerpt from book description: Hypnotic Gastric Band offers similar results without the risks of surgery: this psychological procedure works to convince the unconscious mind that a gastric band has been put in place, helping the body to behave as if a band were physically present-so it's easy to eat less and lose weight at last, while still feeling completely satisfied. -
Anyone read any books by Dr. Duc Vuong?
Ylime replied to TaylorMade4One's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
If you follow him on Facebook or Instagram he gives away a lot of his books for free. Two are attached. He is the best on Instagram and YouTube, he gets snarky, curses and just tells it like it really is. I wish he was my surgeon. Most embarrassing diet/exercise product you've ever bought?
Ylime replied to Creekimp13's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
While we're ratting our moms out. In the 80's my mom bought these - Figurines. Like the peanut butter wafers you can buy today but weight loss related somehow. These things tasted amazing!! My mom never lost any weight with them because my brother and I were constantly eating them. I can still taste them today. -

Ummmm....yes. Probably why I bought the DVD in the first place! His T25 video is amazing because he gets all close to the camera and looks right in your eyes and talks directly to you!! -

I did a similar powder but it wasn't Sensa...something that started with a X...Xyngular I think. It was sold by "independent consultants" like Avon. The intro meeting was at a Pizza Hut so they could give us free pizza and sprinkle the powder all over it to show how great it would be to eat whatever you wanted. I did their intro diet which was like 1,000 calories a day, of course I lost weight because I wasn't eating anything!! I also bought a Total Gym because it was going to make me look like Christie Brinkley. I actually like using it, I just didn't use it enough and it ended up just collecting dust while I sat on the couch. I also remember very distinctly in 2009 I bought a Shaun T Hip Hop Abs DVD. To this day it is still in its shrink wrap...so lazy I never even opened it! lol But I would like to think I redeemed myself because I have completed his T25 workout a few times and I also own his Cize workout which is a blast. I'm sure there are others I'll think of. -
So glad to hear it went well!!
