  1. Hi Saygrace, I'm 26 turning 27 at the time of my surgery which is booked for October this year. I'm getting my surgery done in Czech republic and privately however have given myself 6 months to do some counselling and see a dietician to prepare myself for the lifestyle changes. I am 210 pounds at the moment, have 90 pounds to lose. I want to end my vicious cycle of yo yo dieting and carrying around this extra weight. Just want to be healthy.

    Post Op esophageal cancer worries

Hi, Thanks for your replies- no my sister isn't a specialist in those areas, I think she is just concerned about the longer term issues that could arise from the surgery. My mum had a sleeve done almost 10 years ago and she says it was the best decision she ever made and is able to enjoy her retirement properly. I know my sister is concerned about me but she's never had an issue with her weight so it's hard for her to understand what it's like feeling this way and feeling like you're stuck in this vicious circle of losing weight and then gaining it again. Thanks for your input guys
  3. Hi guys, So I had my first email consultation with a surgeon regarding gastric sleeve surgery, filled out a few forms regarding my health, previous weight loss attempts etc . My sister is a doctor and she's really against me having the surgery because a) she's says I'm too young (27) and be she's concerned about the risk of developing esophageal cancer later on. Have any of you read up on this or had similar concerns? It's making me reconsider my options.
