Insurance Authorization FEPBlue
Jen967 replied to Cindylou40's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have BC/BS Federal because my hubby and I worked for DoD. I started everything not too far in the new year of 2017 and had surgery in July. I don't remember exact dates. I can look it up for you if you want a somewhat closer timeline than what I provided. -
At the beginning I ended up in the ER with a doctor in there with fingers actually physically plucking it out of me. It was quite painful and I would not wish it on anyone! I had tried everything but nothing worked even an enema at the ER!!! I now take senokot everyday...1 in the morning and 2 at night. I am pretty much regular now. I only had 1 other incident in the ER but thank God that time an enema worked. Try senokot as it's worked great for me ever since. I apologize for being graphic about the ER incident!

So happy for you! What an inspiration! This is just what I needed to see as I embark on some changes starting this weekend! I had lost 200 lbs and wasn't at goal yet but still was doing well with my weight loss. Here I am as I type this up 50 lbs in a year. Ugh Thanks for sharing! Congrats! -

I found your name on another thread. I read how you lost weight then put on 40. You got back on track obviously because you look awesome! You're quite the inspiration! I'd really like to talk to you to find out what you did because I had lost 200 lbs but have gained about 50. I've been so bummed about it and I've been very disappointed. Anyway, would you mind if we corresponded here or thru email? I appreciate any response you have. Thank you so much! Congrats on the weight loss and how awesome you look! 💜 -
Who has had the sleeve? How did you do? Pros and cons? Would you do it again?
Jen967 replied to HMA's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had the sleeve. I,like many people am sorry I didn't do it sooner. It's the best thing I could have done for myself. I had surgery in July of 2017 and I have lost 202 pounds. I couldn't be happier. My surgeon doesn't even do band surgery anymore. She said she does a lot of band removals because people have complications or they want them out because they do not work. -
I was almost 50 in 2017 when I had my sleeve surgery in July of 2017. I've lost 202 pounds since then. So for me the weight loss has been great. Everyone is different.

Kay...an ulcer was found when my endoscopy was done. It was determined the anti-inflammatory medication I was on caused the ulcer. I stopped the medicine and like you said I was put on medicine, Prilosec to be exact, which zapped out the ulcer in a few weeks. Good luck to all! =)

😂Jaminator...lol. I was in twilight so I was unaware of the fun happening.
-
Jaminator....you're thinking of a colonoscopy. For the endoscopy they go down your throat.
-
Reading your post about the endoscopy made me sign up! Lol.
-
I just signed up today and I didn't change all of that. I need to fix it.

Thamks! I had surgery 7/272017 and since that day I have lost 125lbs. My total weight loss is 148 because I lost 23lbs prior to surgery.
-
I wish you all the best! This was the best decision I have ever made! Hugs!

It was a requirement of the bariatric program at the hospital I used so every patient has to have one regardless of your history. I'm sure there can be a difference with all programs.

The endoscopy was a requirement for my surgery and am I glad I had it done. As it turned out they found a stomach ulcer yet I was not having any symptoms of an ulcer. I had to go on medicine to eliminate the ulcer before surgery because the surgeon said performing surgery would have been like cutting into an open sore. The medicine wiped out the ulcer in a month. Just my 2 cents worth.
