Hi! I'm having my lap-band removed September 13th and once healed I will have the sleeve done. I have been banded for 10 years and I am so nervous. I am nervous that a million things could go wrong and that I might not be able to get the sleeve. My surgeon told me that it would be a two step process so I know its not going to get done in the same day but I am just so worried I would be able to get another bariatric surgery. Before I was banded I weighed 295. My lowest weight with the band was 164. Last Summer I started having issues where my food was getting backed up in my esophagus and making me vomit. My band can no longer take fills. I actually gain weight still with fills. I now weigh 214 pounds. I was hoping maybe somebody is in the same situation as me or have done this as well and can be my support. My family is a great support but obviously they have never had a bariatric surgery before so none of us know what to expect.

Hi! I have been banded for 10 years - and September 13th my band is coming out. I am happy - yet I am sad. It's been in my body for 10 years and I have lost a lot of weight with it until this past year. When I first was banded I weighed 295, I got down to 164 and now I'm at 214. I was rapidly gaining even with fills. I had several barium swallow tests which showed food stuck up in my esophagus. My port has been bothering me as well as its right under my rib cage. Once the band is removed I will give my body time to heal and I will have the gastric sleeve. At first I was against having my band out but now I know I have to get this out as its just causing me more problems -

Please let us know how you are doing. I am hoping to have my band removed in a few weeks. Then over the summer I will be having the sleeve. I will not miss my port discomfort. I am looking forward to having this band removed! I was against it at first and now I want it out like TODAY!! I just had my endoscopy on Tuesday and everything came back good so now its just getting a surgery date. Did you have to do any prep before your band removal?? I hope you are recovering good. I know you may still be in the hospital thats the only thing I'm not looking forward too -

I am getting ready to have my band removed and have the sleeve as well. At first I was very nervous and I was shocked but the more I thought about it I was convinced this was the best thing for me. I was banded in 2008 (7 months after my son was born) and I weighed 295 pounds. I lost weight very slow and that was ok but my body could only handle a very small fills. I would vomit at times with water and have to have it unfilled. My lowest weight was 164 and I felt great but I started to vomit again. My band was released and I gained some weight (30 pounds) I now weigh 200 pounds again and my blood pressure is high again. The doctor suggested that I have my band removed and do the sleeve. I did a lot of my own research and I have decided that as much as I am afraid of being put to sleep ( Thats the scary part for me) I will be much healthier with this) I am also looking forward to sleeping on my right side again. When I lost the weight before my port had become very sore and more noticeable. I wish you the best of luck. Do you what you feel is right. I know its hard. I was very angry, sad and upset. I then took some time by myself and realized this was a blessing in disguise.
