hahaha! I thought I was the only one with the shower - falling - through - the - floor fear!!! I would rather DIE than have the paramedics find me fat and naked on the basement floor!!!!! I'm glad we're all in this together! -
HF2008, Congrats on your date! It's the same day as my consult! Are you super excited????
-
Congrats, shardenly! I'm so proud of you! Your journey has finally begun!
-

!!!! I was just told I have to have an upper GI after my pre-op consult! What does this entail, and does it hurt?!?! It sounds painful, or, at the very least, SUPER uncomfortable!
-
Hello all! I was recently diagnosed with frequent, yet benign PVC's. They've decided not to put me on meds because they're more of a health risk than the arrhythmia itself (!?!?!?!) I don't have my pre-op consult for two more weeks, and I am DYING to know if this will effect my eligability for banding. Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks in advance, bandsters!!!!
-
Thanks so much, ladies! I'm a CNA, and I actually found out in my training class by mistake! I have about 1-2 PVC's a minute, unless I have PMS or excess caffiene. Then they jump to about 3-4 per minute. I guess I'll just have to play the waiting game and find out, but you both made me feel much better. I don't think they'll use it as a disqualifier for surgery, because there may be a possibility that surgery can allieviate it, I bet!

I was wondering the same thing! I'm also afraid that when I lose weight they'll start to do that weird wrinkle thing some women get... I also wonder if they try to cut off the skin with stretch marks if you get a lower body lift! I would LLOOVEEEE that!
-
Oh great! I am so excited! Thank you guys so much! I can't believe your foot goes down a size! That's nuts!

Hello everyone! I just scheduled my pre-op consult with Dr. Vernon, and was wondering about how long it took everyone to get from their 1st appointment to their surgery. A friend of mine took 5 months. Is that typical??

Brigham and Women/Faulker Hospital

Hey all! I have my first consult with Dr. Robinson on June 2nd. How long did it take from first consult until your surgery??? -
I don't have a date yet, my consultation has been moved until June 2nd. I actually switched from Dr. Vernon to Dr Robinson. I was wondering if Brigham has a floor designated to JUST bariatric recovery, or are you mixed in with people recovering from all different kinds of surgeries? I work for a hospital, and I always feel so bad for the bypass patients who are on liquids while their roommates are chowing down on pancakes! They should at least put bariatric patients in rooms with eachother!

Hey Bandsters! Weird Question! Does the altitude change while flying in an airplane effect the band at all? Just one of those things that feels too weird to ask the surgeon!

Thank you so much for sharing your story! It really helped to alleviate my fears about the actual surgery part of this process! I wish you the best of luck on your journey towards health! -
hey bandsters! I was wondering, how many of you had a catheter inserted for surgery? I am NOT looking forward to that part!!!!

Upper Gi !?!?!?!?!?!?!
AppleBottom replied to AppleBottom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks, Jack! That makes me feel so much better! It actually sounds really interesting! -
I cancelled my apt. with Dr. Vernon and set one up with Dr. Robinson. I've decided that I never met Dr. Vernon and want someone I know for sure I can trust. So, I have a pre-op initial consult with Dr. Malcolm Robinson on June 2nd...A whole month away!!! I absolutely am conviced I cannot wait that long! I have been hearing from Brigham and Women's patients that it takes anywhere from 2-4 months to complete everything and have surgery! Two months!!!! How scary is that!?! I could be banded by August, slimming down durring the winter sweater season, and by the time next summer rolls around I will be trim, lean and (barely) covered in a bikini! Here's to you, Dr. Robinson!!!

Hey! I live in Gloucester, and I would love to get together for a meeting! I am still pre-op. I just scheduled my consultation with Dr.Vernon's office today! -
Do you feel like you're "not as nice" since you lost most of your weight? I am a perky, cheerful person, and I do feel that it is my nature. However, I am now realizing that I definitely try to compensate for my size ( some co-workers don't like/judge me just because I am fat) by going ABOVE the above and beyond for people (allow people to take advantage...). I have a feeling this will change after surgery. Anyone have any experiences with this? Thanks ahead of time for the wisdom, bandsters!

I just realized that I have to loose 140 lbs to be at "normal weight" for my height. That's like, 10 Paris Hilton's!!!! Was anyone else ever overwhelmed by this? Any tips for coping? Thanks Banders !
