Acid re-bound effect after stopping omperazole
DeanaNJ replied to DandelionSun's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I’ve had more than one dr tell me I need to take these for the rest of my life to prevent ulcers developing. In fact, just this week a dr told me of someone ending up in the ER with this exact thing! Have to choose your battles. But I would advise anyone that had gastric bypass RNY consult drs before trying to take a different approach. -
Restriction Years Out From Surgery
DeanaNJ replied to BAA624's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am 4 1/2 years out. For me it depends on what I’m eating. Generally, I can eat more now than after surgery. My surgeon told me to eat when I’m hungry, stop when I’m full. I have pretty much followed that. I’ve lost 125 lbs. -
Best Calcium chews after bypass surgery
DeanaNJ replied to Michele 2021's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I use the BariatricPal sugar free calcium chews. I’ve tried others but these are the best. Do belgium chocolate in the morning and wild grape in the evening. I have never been told not to use gummies! Why are they bad? I take gummies for biotin, fiber, and multi-vitamin. -

My mercifully boring bypass story - M34, diabetic, lower BMI
DeanaNJ replied to modymatey's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Your comments about what type 1 and 2 diabetics are inaccurate! You are either a type 1 or a type 2. Type 1s are dependent on insulin. Type 2s in many cases can control the disease without insulin - diet, exercise, lifestyle choices. Someone who is a type 1 is always a type 1. I found your lack of knowledge on this quite disturbing. Congratulations on your weight loss success. -
waist training after gastric bypass

How did you find out about these? Do you know anyone that has permanent results? Or do you have to wear forever? Not much information on their website... -
C diff infection post surgery
DeanaNJ replied to locabecola21's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My friend who is a nurse told me to crush pills as fine as possible. Put in a shot glass. Add hot liquid, I use tea, to dissolve. Use as little liquid as possible. Pour orange or pineapple juice in shot glass. Down it like a shot! If there is residue just pour more juice in to get it all. This works for me. Hope it helps! -
Definitely report her!

My surgeon just told me this week I could take Celebrex for my arthritis as long as I take omeprazole. I am one year out from RNY.

Not if you watch your carbs. Did you see a nutritionist before your surgery? Or do you have one available? For some, Type 2 Diabetes can be managed by diet without medications. However, there is no guarantee the surgery alone will do this. You might want to learn more about this awful disease you and I are stuck with for the rest of our lives! I don’t say that in judgment...sounds like there is alot you don’t understand.

I had RNY on April 2 2018. It took 2 months before I could stop all meds for diabetes. Hang in there!
-
My nutritionist said no to the patches!

I am type 2. I had RNY on April 2, 2018. Went off meds a week prior to surgery. After surgery took fast acting insulin as needed. As of june 2, I have been totally insulin free! Good luck!

Top 3 tips for Managing Pain Post-op
DeanaNJ replied to Naughty Glitter Goddess's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had RNY Apr 2, 2018 and did not have or need a binder or gel packs. I was walking unassisted same day and went home day after surgery. It was laparoscopic so I’m guessing between that and your hernias are huge differences! -

Which type of surgery did you have? -
I can’t believe the judging going on here! I lived on instant mashed potatoes my first 2 weeks post op! And after 4 1/2 months I will still have some if my stomach is feeling iffy! The quantity is nowhere close enough to do any harm! Do what works for you! Congratulations and continued success!

Had RNY Apr 2, 2018. As of June 2 I have not needed any insulin! Hang in there and be patient! I was starting to get depressed that wasn’t going to happen but it did! Getting dehydrated is the worst! Had to go to ER once for that! Never again! Hopefully!

My nutritionist advised to buy trusted vitamins and supplements. Not something to go cheap on.

Better tasting chewable vitamin recommendations???
DeanaNJ replied to LL44's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I have read that before. The chewables that people said they like were totally gross to me. Going to have to experiment yourself since everyone is different -
Better tasting chewable vitamin recommendations???
DeanaNJ replied to LL44's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My nutritionist said no to patches! Flintstone chewables aren’t bad at all! I had RNY 2 Apr. Switching to pills for calcium because I can’t tolerate any of the chewables I found! -
IpHad RNY Apr 2 2018. Stopped Metformin a week prior. As of Jun 2, I have not needed any insulin! As my dr points out to me, you will always have diabetes....... but now you have it under control without meds! I told him I like to refer to it as my diabetes is in remission! Hang in there!

The only thing I regret about my surgery is that I didn’t do it sooner. You have your whole life ahesd of you! Continue on your journey, by whatever methods work for you! We all have setbacks....just keep plugging away! Best of luck!

My surgery was 4/2/18. I went on pureed liquids stage when I ledft the hospital. First 2 weeks I was always hungry..and I didn’t lose any weight. Dr. Told me to move to next stage but carefully. See what I could tolerate. That worked..I am now “appropriatel” hungry! My weight loss is slow, I think, but I am not able to exercise until I get a hip replacement, which I can’t get until I lose 30 more lb!!

Tried one jar of turkey. It was gross. Tried mixing with mashed potatoes...still gross!
