I have fibromyalgia and for the most part my symptoms have greatly improved. It's only been a month, so I'll have to see how it goes overall.

I had a gown that was big enough to tie closed, so I didn't bother with underwear. The hospital provided the fuzzy socks with tracks so I didn't need slippers. They also provided lip balm and let me have ice to melt in my mouth, so I had no issues with dry mouth. Because I was up and moving when I wasn't too tired/sore, I really didn't need anything more than my phone and cord. I wore the same outfit home that I wore in the morning before since it was barely worn. I would bring lip balm, phone, cord, and clothes to go home.

You are an inspiration. I am looking forward to that kind of loss!

When I had my three week post-surgery checkup, I had lost 13 pounds, and the doctor said that was exactly on target based on my particular body size, etc. I had hoped it would be faster, but I honestly can't complain when the doctor is saying its exactly right.

I had gastric bypass on May 2. The surgeon had me put on a scopalamine patch the night before, and I had no nausea. I was up walking within hours of waking up, and I was on full liquids by that evening (protein shakes, gelatin, broth). I have had zero nausea or vomiting, and I have had no issues getting fluids and soft foods in (doc started me early because I was doing so well).

I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 18. I had to take Clomid at 26 to conceive my first child. I developed Type 2 diabetes at 27, started metformin, and naturally conceived my second child at 29. I am now 45 and have lost 69 pounds; 16 before meeting the surgeon, 41 before surgery, and 12 in the past two and a half weeks post-op. Yes, the surgery helps, and now my period is right on time even though I no longer take metformin. Best wishes on your journey.

Most of the pain/discomfort was gone the first week, though there’s still mild tenderness at two weeks on the larger incisions.

I had one shot just before surgery and one the next day before going home. I’ve been walking every day since surgery and have not needed any more.

I was unable to weigh myself until my doctor’s appointment six days after surgery (away from home the whole time). I was down three pounds at that point.

Thanks folks! No nausea, no difficulties at all. A little soreness, but here I am three days later and I’ve walked 3.8 miles today. Granted it was slow walking and not all at once, but it feels good to get outside and move.

So, after a seven hour drive through whiteout conditions (thanks, Alaska), and a busy night of prep, my surgery went smooth, I’m mildly sore, and I’ve already been walking all over the ward. All in all pretty darn happy. Thanks for al the wishes and happy thoughts.

So, tomorrow I drive from Fairbanks Alaska to Anchorage. 400 miles...I have most things packed and just have a few that must wait until morning. Its hard not to climb the walls, knowing I'll have to get things in the car and head out early in the morning. i hope I can sleep; I'm more concerned about getting TO surgery than I am about the surgery itself. Not sure what I wanted from this post, except to say I'm restless and I hope the drive is good. At least there's some pretty scenery.

My surgeon has me on a 2-day completely liquid diet as my bowel prep. Check with the doctor and see what options they can offer.

Chiming in late; hope the surgery was/is going well, and here's to a smooth recovery! Mines's in less than 48 hours.

There's been a week-long celebration at work, and each day revolves around food themes. Last Friday was a cake and ice cream farewell party, Monday was barbecue and sides, Tuesday was catered Tex-Mex, Wednesday was dinner-plate sized cinnamon rolls from a local bakery, Thursday was bagels and muffins from another bakery, and today was pizza. As I am in the second week of my 2-week pre-op diet, I successfully avoided the food, but I feel socially ostracized. I don't get to hang out and share in the fun because there's not much point to sitting in a room full of food I can't eat while everyone exclaims about delicious it is. It also doesn't help that people who fully know about my food restrictions are telling me to go have some. I can't wait to be out of here for surgery; then I at least can focus on caring about me and not have to be around all the mass eating.

It's already so stressful to go through the process of getting accepted and having a surgery date; to have to go through all you have and then wait is miserable.Let's hope things turn around for you and you get it done soon!

This is my worst nightmare. Last fall I got cellulitis on both my legs; clindamycin wouldn't touch it, so they put me on IV vancomycin...which only slowed it down. It got all the way up to my hip before they put me on a very strong antibiotic, Linezolid. Thankfully it combined with the vancomycin killed the cellulitis. I don't want ANY infections. Recover quickly and may the rest of your healing go much better!

My paperwork says they will cancel my surgery if I show up without my CPAP.

I am a laboratory technologist, and we are always looking for more employees here in Fairbanks, Alaska. The weather is a bit extreme, both in temperature and in sunlight (dark in winter, light all night in summer). Considering your credentials, I am sure they would be able to help you figure out how they compare to American credentials and get you started. Most states in the USA do not require a license, just a Board of Registry with the proper education.

What an incredible feeling, to know that you can actually see all that hard work in such an affirming way. Congratulations on your achievement!

Urine that dark means your kidneys are struggling to do their job with minimal water; you can cause acute renal failure. In fact, that's the only time I've seen urine that dark; my husband was in acute renal failure from severe dehydration.

Hopefully the worst is behind you and it gets easier! That sounds like an awful thing to have happen!
