Pre Op diet???? What did you eat?

The 3 weeks before surgery I was on 1200 calorie low fat diet for the first 2 weeks and the week before surgery I was on liquids. The day of surgery clear liquids then liquids for 2 weeks, blenderize foods for 2 weeks and then soft foods for 2 weeks. Then I started to introduce 1 new food item a day into a 1200 calorie low fat diet. I've lost 36 pounds in 2 1/2 months.

GOT BAND DATE!! Now I'm not sure

I totally agree with everything that ReneBean said. I am 52 and had my surgery on 11-21-05. My starting weight was 357 now I'm 8-weeks out, lose 31#, now 321. I had 1st fill last week of 1.4. I wish that I could have done this when my children were young so that I could have done more with them when I homeschooled them. My arthritis is now so bad I most likely will have to have knee replacement. I had a long hard fight with my insurance but finially, PTL God open the doors and I had to totally trust in Him that I had to walk through that door. I don't regret not having it sooner, but it would have been nice. My 3 children are all in college and are very excited for me. Good Luck

    Whats your favorite?????

I like Carb Solution. It comes in chocolate and vanilla, the vanilla I like with frozen fruit (strawberries, or mangos, or peaches, pineapples). I buy it at Krogers
  7. Don't give up! I tried to have grastric bypass 3 years ago and was turned down because it was an exclusion by my insurance. I tried again in 5/05 and was told again that it was an exclusion after my family dr. sent in a request, then my surgeon sent in my history and the lap band was accepted because of medical reasons. I had to give a 5-7 year diet tries, weight history, my medical history and family medical history but PTL it was finially approved! So hang in there and keep trying.
  8. Paula, I didn't have a question about phases and dizziness I was tell someone else what my first fill was like and what soft foods that I ate. Maybe I didn't post something right it was my first time here. Thanks
  9. I had my surgery done on Nov. 21, 2005 and I weighed in at 357#, today I weigh 321# (a lose of 36#). I just had my first fill on Jan. 16 (1.4) and it was not painful at all. The dr. numbs you upper stomach, up by were you port incision is and you drink some berium and water and he watches it go down (you can watch also). Not much to it, follow it with 2 days liquids, 2 days pulverized, 2 days soft or until I felt comfortable after the 6 days to start adding a new food again. He said to remember small bites and lots of chewing. The soft food that I ate was mashed potatoes, noodle soup, squash/yams, cooked carrots, chicken in the blender then just cut very small, applesauce, yougart, canned peaches & pears. I was told that soft foods can be cut/mashed with a fork but requires chewing, and to also only introduce 1 new food a day. Hope that this helps, it was my first posting.
  10. I had Lap Band surgery on Nov. 21, 2005 with Dr. Duckett at St. Lukes Hospital in Maumee, OH. My starting weight was 357#, today Jan. 18, 8 weeks later I am at 321#. I just had my first fill (1.4) on Jan. 16. I am excited about my progress and the support from my family, friends and my church. I am looking forward to having your insite and support also.
